I used a gf2 GTS and 2 v3 pci cards and had triple monitor working no problem a while ago, however 3 monitors is just too much.

Highly unlikely that will work as you would be changing the boot controller and that will most likely cause winxp to barf on reboot(irq_not_less_than_or_equal bluescreen). This usually happens when you change motherboards on 2k/xp that have different IDE controllers. However I haven't tried it so it MAY work, and I can't say it won't as I'm not 100% certain. In the KR7A manual there is something about being able to assign specific irq's to certain devices to get around this kinda issue for Win2k/XP. It would probably be easier and quicker to just format and reinstall however.

hehe first off if you didn't steal the game(like me) then you should go get the update patch. It adds all the missing options and fixes lots of things. However to enable your joystick it's as mentioned above(this is in the readme also) Cntrl + J changes from 5 different presets(which all don't work right) I use the custom mode as it works best with my dual analog stick. To change resolution(which still doesn't look right on the interface hit cntrl + shift + 6 through 9. Performace also suffers when the res is changed. F4 changes your view The US release of the game in feb should contain all these missing features(in otherwords it will be a patched and finished game, unlike the european release)

err how about the quick and simple way? Right click floppy, select format, check off create msdos startup disk. Format disk, use it to boot with.

Recommendation for 4 ch sound card that works under XP Pro
Seldzar replied to tdavie's topic in Hardware
90% of all creative issues are with VIA chipsets. It seems EVERY person I see having issues with a creative sound card have a Via chipset of some sort. I've owned a Philips Acoustic Edge(worked great and had very few problems) they are a viable choice but I always seem to end up going back to creative. My sblive didn't give me ANY issues in my MSI K7T Turbo however that doesn't mean some of you won't find issues. Read this and understand why http://www.tecchannel.de/hardware/817/index.html I put my Audigy in my New KR7A Raid and I managed to kill it, however my sblive works flawless in it =) I have since replaced the Audgiy and it works just dandy in this board now. I recommend trying the PCI latency patch if you have issues. In the end I'll repeat, the MAJORITY of issues that plague users with creative soundcards are via chipset/pci bus issues with odd hardware configs. There are the occasional driver issues but on the whole creative cards work good if you know how to setup your box and know what you are doing when an issue pops up(ie you know how to troubleshoot not cry, scream and point fingers) My setup: Tbird 1.0ghz @ 1.4ghz (10.5x133) Abit KR7A Raid Crucial 256mb DDR 2 x Maxtor 60gb ATA133 HD's in Raid 0 AGP: Asus GF2 (250/420) PCI1: Empty PCI2: 3dfx Voodoo3 2000 PCI (2nd Montior) PCI3: Creative Audigy or SBlive! PCI4: ATI TV Tuner PCI5: Empty PCI6: Surecom 10/100 Nic Aopen 24x10x40 Toshiba 12x DVD -
Go buy a GF2 mX. Very simple and easy solution, your voodoo isn't going to work properly in XP, err ever.

My audigy works perfect, I have no driver issues or sound issues. However I will say upon moving my highpoint raid controller to a pci slot underneith the card I had some noise on boot up. However moving the raid card back above the soundcard removed it completely. I also have a amd and kt133a chipset and have had no compatability issues with it.

Change desktop res, color, refresh while it's open and eventually it will clear up. It's an issue with nVida cards. Or try out winDVR from http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/WinDVR_Download.jsp

Question, why is it this bothers you guys enough to give a rats ***?
-
Sorry goatse.cx creative MAY have their own cable but you do NOT need it. I just use a standard 1/8 inch stereo headphone connector that splits into a left and right coax(rca) cable and checked to see whether left or right was carrying the signal to my 5.1 speakers with Dolby Digital decoder box. Plugged in the side with the signal and i'm off to the races. This works on my Sblive value and my Audigy.

Quote: CL's webpage has a signup so you'll get notified about the driver release. They state that they'll be out by mid-oct. With XP being the replacement for the 9x line, I'm pretty sure they'll be out on time. Cryptix Thats nice and all but kinda irrelivent as the drivers on the cd work flawless. SO either way I don't care too much, we shall see when the time comes if they are the same or an update.

Take your pick, go back to win2k or buy a new vid card, Thats it. O and you can't buy XP yet unless you get a brand new pc and as far as I know no new pc's are coming with any 3dfx cards

hehehe I emailed him as well. So hopefully either one of us will get some answers.

Thats what I thought to but I tried it and it still didn't work. I guess that would be a question for the guy who wrote the MAD plugin or creative. Betting that creative wouldn't have a clue, or just brush you off this is probably better left to the author of MAD.
-
Yeah , I just configured my Directsound device to Audigy C400 and then it played fine. Level seemed a little less than wave out however. I also highly recommend MAD plugin for winamp, it sounds incredible on the Audigy. Especially at 96khz =) http://www.mars.org/home/rob/proj/mpeg/mad-plugin/

Just got my SB Audigy in my box today, works like a charm and sounds amazing with my speakers (Midiland S4 7100 Plus)in WinXP http://www.midiland.com/proddetail.asp?linenumber=30&category=

At what point are you guys going to face facts? Voodoo + Winxp = Direct 3d, NOTHING more, and poor d3d at that. Come to grips with reality, give up on it or go back to 98/Me/2k. The choice's and answer's are very simple you merely need to face facts. And all those tonnes of butchered driver kits out there are nothing more than poor hacks that won't accomplish anything. let me help you guys along, 3dfx cards will NEVER, and I mean NEVER, work the way you want them too(like 98/2k) ever ever again in winxp. EVER. . . . . . . EVER EVER EVER. . . . N E V E R E V E R

Quote: You're also wrong about the engine, its a brand new engine, not UT modified at all. Sorry but you're wrong, the game engine is based on unreal technology which is the same tech that powered unreal. They do not regard each new game as a new engine but a evolution from the previous one. They build on what they have and add/fix/remove/refine stuff to it. To put it simply, The Unreal 2 engine is a workover of the Unrealtournament engine, which is a workover of the unreal engine. Why write routines and proceedures over again when you have very solid basis already? Quote: Originally posted by NTGAMEMAN unreal 2 should work with tnt2 No, it requires at least a gf2 level card (not sure about gf1) and besides it's an alpha test, who cares if it doesn't work, there is no "game" to play in it, you look at some maps, wow. if you want some screenshots http://astroman.dhs.org/UT2 These are from my box with a gf2 pro and a tbird 1.4 in winxp

I'd advise you to check your file versions of ntkern, user32 etc as there was a crack out there before xp was final that replaced a crapload of files with older 2535 files(including the files above) I tried this out on my backup machine and upon the first boot after setup there was no themes etc and many services weren't started, however on first reboot all was fine. I can't say the box ran that great with that crack thou. If you got your final XP from a reliable resource, I still suggest you check it out.

Make winXP Emergency repair disk start/programs/accessories/system tools/backup or copy setup.log, autoexec.nt and config.nt from x:\windows\repair Install win98 to the new drive after all is installed boot with winxp cd, do an emergency repair. In the repair select repair bootsector or something similar(there should be 2 boot options to repair, select both and uncheck the others) Let it repair the bootsector and reboot, it should give you back the dual boot menu, if you don't have win98 in that menu add it manually editing the boot.ini on your c:\

Some Good news Voodoo owner the Voodoo drv are BACK in XP he
Seldzar replied to SHS's topic in Hardware
Well I can play max payne on my second vid card (v3 2000) @ 1024 with medium details and all is fine, no missing textures et all. However that could also be game related. No one said the winxp drivers were the best for gaming/performance. At least v3 users get some good 2d =) and have default drivers installed on os install. -
Sorry man, misread it, thought you had XP installed.

Did you even go look? XP goes to 200.
