I would like to know if anyone has any success geting a wireless home network up , and using Win2k with it. For example, waveland, diamond and Intel all have wireless solutions but do any support 2k? Please post your experiences here. Thanks Clayboy

It looks like Microsoft sent me a copy of Windows 2000 Pro for no reason. The invoice says price - $0.00 and on the box there is a sticker that says Promotional Sample. Is this a time limited version? I can't find anything that says so anywhere on the box or the manual. And why would they send ME a copy of it. Doesn't make sense.

I found an entry for the g400 in the hardware list and it says the g400 does dual head and Dvd without problems with the 2k drivers from Matrox BUT do the drivers also enable directx for games and/or opengl? Last time i heard (couple of months ago) the beta drivers from matrox do not support directx or opengl so basically no games . Thanks, Clayboy

Quick update. Even though changing my bios to boot pci bus first caused multimon to work for both cards in RC2, now Win98 uses the crappier pci card for its primary leaving my agp v3 3000 as the secondary card. And ofcourse 98 wants to play all my games off the main card. So , my new plight now is if anyone knows how to change the primary monitor in 98 like 2000 can. I've been playing with the registery trying to find it there but no luck yet. -Clayboy [This message has been edited by Clayboy (edited 18 November 1999).]

Thanks Oracle for the great suggestion With my hopes so low after not getting the agp to work i didnt even notice that option. I restarted with my bios initiliazing pci as primary and enabled the agp card in 2k to be used as primary and seems to be working great! Thanks again for the great suggestion. Clayboy

Here's whats going on. I have a dual p2-350 , 128ram IDE drivers, scsi burner and cdrom. A AGP Voodoo3 and recently I bought a cheap ATI xpert 98 PCI video card to slap into my machine so i can use my spare 17" for more desktop space. The bios is initializing the AGP bus first so my V3 is my primary card. 98 picks up both cards and works flawlessly with Multimon support. But 2000 (RC2) always exclamaits the PCI video card. I tried the xpert 98 and 2 others and both come up exclaimated. BUT when i tell the bios the init the PCI bus first 2k enables both cards and everything works perfectly . Does anyone know or can speculate how I can fix this problem? Is it a bug in 2k? will rc3 solve this? Am I stuck with using the pci card as the main , first initialized card? Please help me , dont make me stay in 98 to use both my monitors! =[ Any help appreciated. Yours humbly, Clayboy

Curious, I have a win98 box runnin with 4 video cards and there is only 1 taskbar on the main monitor and no option to stretch it . I've never witnessed what it looks like in NT though.

Dolce and YuppieScum , thanks to both your comments and information. Looks like i will be holding off on my purchase for about a month or until Matrox releases some decent drivers. I wish the manufacturors would keep thier customers and *potential customers* better updated as to the status of thier drivers and hardware versions and capabilities. Oh well I guess thats asking too much sometimes -Clayboy

Well, I'm taking the plunge and picking up and g400 MAX DH next week sometime. I would also like to know what options I have for gaming. Is OpenGL possible , how? What about directX , will I have better luck getting it to work than my V3 3000? =( Please dont let me buy a $200+ video card and not be able to play games! =) -Clayboy

Do you have a G400 DUAL HEAD. Do the matrox beta win2k g400 drivers support the dual head feature? Thats the only question stoping me from getting one right now =) -Clayboy

Hello , this is my first post in this wonderful message board where i have learned so much about windows 2000 that has saved me so many hours of frustration. Thank you all. What I would like to know is has anyone used a USB video camera successfully with windows 2k rc1 or rc2. I am interested in purchasing one and would like to know what models and drivers will work without making 20 trips to the computer store to find a working one -CLayboy
