I'm running very happy with beta 2462, I have formatted all my drives with NTFS, but when I look at the properties of folders or files, there is no security tab. There seems to be no way to set access rights to files or folders. Is this a bug or a documented feature of this beta.

Don't forget to supply the correct driver during installation when you use ATA100 or so. I have a SBLive card as well, it works well under XP.
-
ATA100 works in W2k and in XP. Keeo in mind that you have to supply the drivers for the ATA100 controller during the installation. W2k and XP treats it as a SCSI controller.

Who knows a trick how to connect a SONY DSC-F505 digital still camera with usb under w2k. The drivers from SONY are only for Windows 98. My requests to SONY for a w2k driver are not heard. Maybe if I ask the question in Japanese. Even the Yakki Makki and Tokyo de Luxe stuff from Japan has drivers for w2k, but not SONY.

Upgraded my driver from 3.56 to 3.64 on my RC3 system. Reboot and the system crashed resulting in a re-boot. Starting in save mode to revert to the previous level did not work either. I must admit that during installation of 3.64 Windows gave a severe warning that this driver was not for this device ! This was followed by the Unsigned warning , which is normal. I had to recover my system with the aid of a second w2k platform by means of copying the old modules in their appropriate directories. Big Fun. Next time I install this kind of stuff on a test system first.

Just bought a digital cam Sony DSC-F505, it can be connected through USB under Windows 98. Tried to install it under w2k rc2, but no luck. Sony only supplies w98 drivers. Anyone knows if there are w2k drivers for this cam ? (The cam shows up in w98 as a removable diskdrive.)

The AMD Athlon was released when W2k was nearly finished. Don't expect that this combination will run without problems the coming 6 months or so. As to speak in Murphy's law : You only know how deep a pool is, until you step in it. Goodluck.

What is the build of RC2 ? Is directx supported in RC2 ?
-
New directx driver from Microsoft will not help us poor nvidia addicts. But this might be the reason that nvdia lab has waited for the final release of dx7 before shipping a new driver. Now the answer has to come from nvdia.

I posted an e-mail at www.nvidia.com, telling them that if they want to keep their leading position they should hurry to produce a driver for w2k rc2. Thousands are waiting for it. I don't think it will have any effect, but at least it made me feel better.

Found link to a beta driver from nvidia on this board. Although not perfect, it worked. See this board at Ikke.

I'm using a diamond viper 550 and running w2k rc2 build 2128. I tried the 401 version and wow dxdiag showed directwraw, direct3d and agp support. Ran several games that use d3d, the system did not crash as before, but the driver is very wacky, lots of glitches and strange syncs. Also tried OpenGL, and it worked. Although nor perfect, it's a start.

I installed RC2 build 2128. There is directx 7 in it, I ran dxdiag and found that directdraw is eneabled but direct3d is disabled. When I try to test d3d the system dies. I have a diamond viper 550. Tried several drivers but none works for d3d. Is this just a matter of tnt driver or is d3d locked within this release. With build 2070 everything ran fine. Any ideas ?

Who can tell me if the 3COM U.S. Robotics USB ISDN TA is working under w2k ? There seems to be a driver at the 3OM section, but I want to know sure that it works, before I buy one of these. This TA can be connected through USB and Serial.

I installed Windows 2000 builds 2031, 2072 and 2121. My Viper 550 is recognized correctly, however only with build 2072 direct 3d works. With the last 2121 version it crashes when I want to test it with dxdiag. Any ideas, except from going back to 2072 ?

Just found the answer in this same bulletin board. I go back to 2072.
