  1. Just for the hell of it (yep I have too much time on my hands) I decided to do upgrade win98se with win2k 2195.1 and it worked great! Not a single problem so far. One interesting thing is that the ATI TV Wonder version 2.0 software wasn't picked up as not win2k friendly and remained installed after win2k finished setting up. When I had tried in the past to load this software in win2k, the ATI software would not permit installation on anything other than win9x. Now, considering the software is installed, has anyone run across any brooktree 878 drivers that could be used with this card? I am not that concerned with video capture at this time but would like to watch TV :-) BTW, please refrain on suggesting that I just get off my lazy ass and go to the living room and watch TV like a normal person - lol! Thanks for any tips you might have. ------------------ Shrink 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO!

    Nope - mswin2k.net is not reachable - the site must be down. Bummer. ------------------ Shrink 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO!

    So winimage will open iso's as well as .bin? I will try that. Considering that I burned it to a cdrw, is it possible to just burn the single file to overwrite the older one? Thanks again :-) ------------------ Shrink 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO!

    Chameleon - Thank you! I humble myself before you. Excellent find. How can I open the iso, add this file, then burn the whole thing to cd maintaining the integrety of the iso so that it will be bootable? Thanks again! ------------------ Shrink 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO!
  5. I have 2195 sitting in my uploads folder at home waiting to be burned to cd - before I go to the trouble of installing it, can anyone who has installed it tell me if there is a native driver built in for the 3Com USB Network Adapter? Muchos gracias, merci beaucoup, thanks much :-) ------------------ Shrink 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO!

    2194 = RTM

    Anybody know the build # for RTM? What are the chances that it could be 2194? Thanks :-) ------------------ Shrink 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO! [This message has been edited by Shrink (edited 14 December 1999).]

    2194 = RTM

    LOL! I am in the boat of some other users who suffer from driver envy. My 3com usb network adapter and ATI TV Wonder what are keeping me from adopting win2k as my os of choice. Secondarily, no liveware support from Creative and rather shoddy Voodoo3 drivers (my card is NEVER assigned an irq and thus runs 25% slower) further keep me from deleting the win98 partition. I tell you, RTM signals to me the chance for all those companies to finally start working on, or releasing, those drivers. I can't tell you how much I loof forward to dumping win98 :-) Take care! ------------------ Shrink 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO!

    2194 = RTM

    JimmyK - Whoa Nellie! Nobody's suggesting that anything will change between 2183 and 2194 that will be even noticeable. The fact that the bloody thing is DONE (except for the 8 service packs over the next 3 years <g> ) and getting a hold of the final RTM version is somewhat satisfying. At that point it will be pretty nice to see hardware companies (e.g. 3com and creative) start releasing drivers. I am looking forward to installing the final version knowing that another beta or rc# will be coming out necessitating a reinstall. I don't read anybody suggesting that the world will change between 2194 and the final, though. Enjoy :-) ------------------ Shrink 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO!

    3com Big Picture Kit and Win2k RC3

    See my post re: the 3com usb network interface. I think that we will be waiting for win2k to be officially released. When I enquired with 3com about the usb network adapter they gave me the standard line about not supporting beta operating systems. Strange, since every one of their PCI and ISA NIC's are supported within the OS. That is the final piece of hardware that keeps ME from ditching win98 - well, actually that and the lack of drivers for my ATI TV Wonder PCI card. Frustrating, huh <g>? ------------------ 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO!

    Anyone managed to find drivers that make this thing work in Win2k RC3? Thanks much :-) Shrink

    SBLive in RC3

    Has anyone got it to work in RC3 with Liveware 3? I followed the instructions that Anthony put together - none of the setup files would work properly from the web downloadable NT drivers - they just sat in memory and hung. I installed from the CD (older version of LW3) but launcher and the mixer would not load - just hung there as well. I disabled irq steering and my modem as well. Thanks in advance:-)

    ATI TV Wonder PCI & RC3

    As you can probably tell, in addition to my not getting liveware to work, I can't get my TV Wonder working either. Not that it is much of a surprise but I was hoping that the new ATI software would have had drivers that worked with it. Has anyone managed to find alternate drivers and software to make this functional? I am liking how RC3 is looking and very much want to make the jump from win98 now - thanks for helping :-) Shrink

    CDRW 4224E and RC2

    Has anybody gotten this drive to work with RC2? This is the last thing I need to fix! Thanks a lot:-) ------------------ 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO!

    CDRW 4224E and RC2

    Well, I loaded the drivers that came on the disk from creative. Then I installed Adaptec EZCD 4.0 and DirectCD 2.5D with the update. I made sure DMA was enabled under device manager/ide controllers and the rest is history. ------------------ 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO!

    CDRW 4224E and RC2

    Nope - couldn't get RC1 to run well at all with my mobo (BE6). Actually, I have the 4224e working after all! I just burned a cd with ez cd 4.0. the only thing that isn't working is the cdrw when trying to move/copy/delete files from within explorer. However, I can save files to the cdrw from within apps. go figure, huh? ------------------ 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO!
