I tried MMC 7.0 with the TV Wonder to see if there were drivers contained in it that could work with the TV Wonder. Unfortunately not. Is that what you were referring to? Crap - Q3??? Same stuff as usual from ATI. I am very disappointed. I bought a Hauppauge WinTV because of this, but really like the TV Wonder better. This is very disappointing. I heard a rumour that ATI is working on a USB TV device and my guess is that it they will not be releasing 7.1 of the MMC until the new USB device is released. This is as bad as how long it took them to get version 2.0 of the TV Wonder software released. Thanks for the update - anyone want to buy a TV Wonder? ------------------ Shrink 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO! I did the same thing, and the installer uninstalled the betas and installed the newest version. There should be no problem (especially since the apps are the same build afaik). ------------------ Shrink 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO! From the looking that I did at the program when I went searching for the crack, it appears so. An intrepid web surfer might be able to even find a little something at www.astalavista.box.sk to permit the use of the demo of Bootstar (the current version even) to work on a more, ahem... permanent basis :-) ------------------ Shrink 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO! Hey all - has anyone run across any newer drivers than the 3.02a drivers from www.hauppauge.com ? Sometimes Hauppauge will release prerelease drivers to fortunate consumers who bug them via email and I am hoping that a few of you are here <g>. The update either requires you to have it installed or to have the installation CD (so a warez rip of EZCD won't work) and it will check the cd for setup.inf and, if it finds it, DirectCD 3.01 will be installed. ------------------ Shrink 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO! I don't know when this started - hibernation is no longer occurring on its' own based on the settings in power management. However, when I manually hibernate the computer it works fine. Can somebody who has hibernation working successfully based on the timers post the timer settings (i.e. monitor / hard drive / suspend / hibernation times and power profile)? Alternatively, if someone knows a fix for this please pass it along - TIA :-) ------------------ Shrink 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO! Well - I found out what it was. Even though I have DirectCD and EZCD installed in a manner that permits standby mode and hibernation (when it is manually selected), it is definitely DirectCD that is causing the problem. I tried it just with the latest US patch (no standby or hibernation), then added the 3.01b Japanese patch and both work, but hibernation can only be manually initiated. Adaptec has been supposedly working on this for HOW LONG and they still haven't gotten their sh*t together? I like having packet writing, and there are no other companies supporting packet writing in Win2k at present, otherwise I would be sending DirectCD down the crapper! Sigh - I feel better now <g>. ------------------ Shrink 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO! You don't mean to piss anyone off? Why should that change now <g>? Why would you even post this in a forum specifically for Windows 2000 users? You are right - Windows 2000 is NOT for you and that has been amply demonstrated. Don't let the door... ------------------ Shrink 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO! Yikes - make sure that you downloaded the right patch. If you did, then it may be checking to see whether you have EZ CD Deluxe (the one that comes with BOTH EZCD and DirectCD) and, since you acquired the products separately (not in the deluxe package) it won't upgrade it. That would REALLY suck. Check the alt.comp.periphs.cdr newsgroup and Adrian Miller (Adaptec rep) will respond. Good luck! ------------------ Shrink 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO! Spoke too soon <g> - I restored my win98 install and then got an email from J_Pro who confirmed that he got hibernation and standby to work with directcd by installing the 3.01 update and then the 3.01b update from the Adaptec Japan site. I restored my Win2k install, then installed directcd 2.5, then 3.01, then 3.01b (no reboots between installs), then rebooted and standby works as does hibernation and nary an error in my Event logs :-) ------------------ Shrink 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO! Jason - it worked! I installed 2.5 then 3.01, then 3.01b from the Japanese site and standby and hibernation works! This raises the question: why did adaptec release this patch which hoses acpi functions when it requires another patch from a site across the world to make it work properly? Thanks again! ------------------ Shrink 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO! So is hibernation and standby working? I restored my Win98 install - perhaps prematurely <g>. ------------------ Shrink 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO! It asks for the cd and checks for the setup.inf in the root dir. I don't have the cd so the only other option was to install 2.5d, and then 3.01. Unfortunately, hibernation and standby no longer work. I am getting pretty tired of apps and drivers not playing well with Windows 2000. Back to Win98 for a few more weeks until things improve and then I am going to restore my Win2k disk image and update my data. ------------------ Shrink 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO! Thanks J_Pro - I am going to clean out ALL my adaptec stuff and try from scratch. Would you do me a BIG favour and email me your setup.inf from the CD. I have the files from the cd copied to my hd and, ahem, don't happen to have the cd handy :-) I don't want to have to install DirectCD 2.5d to get 3.01 to install. Crap - I am really sick of this! I installed 3.01 and I might as well have been running 2.5d. I like being able to use hibernate and standby but upon installing 3.01 and trying to put the computer into either power saving mode, I am notified that the driver or application associated with my burner (i.e. dcd 3.01) is keeping Windows from entering standby or hibernation mode! Has anyone else gotten this to work without it hosing hibernation and standby? Thanks :-). ------------------ Shrink 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO! The whole idea of the HAL is to keep the computer from being taken down by poorly written drivers or applications that access hardware directly. Without it, Windows NT would be no more stable than Windows 9x. Frankly, I will take stability over a negligible speed hit (if any speed hit at all). ------------------ Shrink 92% of the things we worry about don't happen - but the other 8% DO!
