I am running win2000 pro, and whenever I run a D3D accelerated screen saver (voodoolights and Sach's marine aquarium to be specific), the screen saver will start, then after about 10-15 seconds, it will boot me back to the windows desktop, almost as if someone has moved the mouse! The screensavers used to work about a month ago, I don't know what the heck is going on here! specs: Asus v7700 (tried using many diff. drivers) celeron 566@850 hitachi superscan 752 win2k pro sound blaster x-gamer thanks for any and all advice! Well euankirkhope, the Sound Blaster X-gamer Live! card happens to have headphone out on the back of the card, so either you are saying that Creative doesn't know what they are doing, or you would probably admit that not having a headphone jack on the back of a sound card is pretty rediculous By the way, Creative happens to be a world leader in sound cards, so I think you should just admit the latter

Just a little warning I went out and bought a Diamond MX400 What a joke! The card only has the option to either run speakers, or run headphones....you can't have both plugged in at the same time! I honestly laughed my head off when I read that in the installation book. Does Diamond think that we want to actually unplug our speakers and plug our headphones in everytime we want to use headphones? Gimme a break.

Ok, I have been running win2000 professional final for a long time now, and I like to use the VoodooLights screensaver (v 1.2.5) For about a month it was working perfectly. Then for no apparent reason, it started screwing up. Now, whenever my voodoolights screensaver kicks in, after about 30 seconds into it, it immediately goes back to the desktop, almost as if someone had moved the mouse. It does this at the same time, everytime. I thought it may have been my video card drivers(Asus v6600 deluxe), but i have changed them around a lot, so I don't believe it would be that. Now i am using Asus's beta win2000 drivers. Does anyone have ANY idea what is causing this? thanks Fusion Specs Aopen ax6bc-latest bios asus v6600 deluxe 3com 905b NIC hitachi superscan 752 mx300 sound card

Preatorian: can I do this over the internet, or does the computer have to be on my network?? because the computer I want to remotely shutdown is over the internet, and is in fact running win2k professional final

Hello, I am running a quake 3 server from a location miles away from my house and the ONLY thing i need to do to it remotely is to reboot it from time to time. Is there a way (without using pcanywhere or other programs) to remotely reboot the computer? Maybe using telnet or something?? I would need a step-by-step explanation if anyone can help. I really appreciate any help anyone can extend to me...thanks guys Fusion

in order to do this, first make sure all the computers are on the same workgroup. then go to sharing on your drives. select "create new share". Under "permissions", remove whatever is in the box, and "add" a new permission. Under the "select new users or groups" in the "look in" option, it should show your computer name. scroll down in this box until you see your workgroup name and select it. Now choose "everyone" from the list. Click "add", click OK and there you go. Do this with all drives you want shared. Keep in mind that all computers on your workgroup will be able to access your drives now, so if you only want select users on your workgroup to be able to access your drives you will have to use a slightly different method (which i am not very sure about, hehe) I'm sure other people here can add/correct me on my advice Fusion

hello. I have the 3com 3C905B-TX 10/100 NIC and i noticed that my performance (in related to ping times and download speeds) is not nearly as good as they were when i was running windows 98. I was wondering if anyone has or is planning on writing new or modifying NT4.0 drivers to make this card work nicely with win2000. The drivers included in win2000 for this card just seem crappy. Do you guys think I could just use the nt4.0 drivers off the install disk? I don't know that much about modifying drivers, so please excuse me if my question about modifying or making new ones seems laughable. Thanks, Fusion

just wondering I am going to try it with a cable modem connection is it really as simple as it seems? any tips/hints? how does it compare to proggies like sygate and wingate?

I tried searching for this in the forums, I was wondering how to be able to run A3D on win2000 retail build with an MX300. Do I need to install certain drivers or something? Oh, btw, I have a single processor system thanks guys, Fusion
