who knows if that software is even near compatible with win2k, not everything will work no matter how updated the sofware is, or it could be your printer drivers or even your own printer. what kind of printer do you have? and have you tried any other type of the same software to see if anything else works ? ------------------ ~ chameleon kyoshiro ~ http://win2kbox.8m.com

Hmmm.. I just had to get up on this! Viper, detonator drivers have been released a while ago, version 3.53 i think (not sure, im voodoo3 all the way ;P) but from everyone i have heard they are a miracle for running games, almost all games work, not sure if you have found these drivers as of yet, maybe your still looking for a directx7 final for win2k which can be found on my site (http://win2kbox.8m.com)as well as the detonator drivers, if you need anymore help whatso ever, feel free to post, I will check by any chance I get and help out. ------------------ ~ chameleon kyoshiro ~ http://win2kbox.8m.com

damn, geez, one thing i noticed b4 was that if modem compression and software compression were both on if could sometimes degrade performance, and in win2k both options are defult for the modem, check all the settings and make sure that software compression is off, leave on hardware compression, if that doesnt work try the opposite. i was trying out some drivers in win2k, if it doesnt like em, by the time i reboot and try to get back to windows i get a blue screen saying such and such drivers didnt work, to reboot and go into safe mode.. but that never works i still get a blue screen when loading up in safe mode? anyone know a work around to handle this? its getting me pissed! ------------------ ~ chameleon kyoshiro ~ http://win2kbox.8m.com

ok here's the deal! i have 2 partitions! C and D, win98se is on C: and it is a fat32 partition, on D: is windows 2000 and is a NTFS partition, dos must use either fat16 or fat32, I did that before with the delete the files that is making win2k crash, and it worked, but i cant access D: no matter what i try unless im in win2000 itself, changing D: to fat32 would definitely help, i'll that. then i can see both partitions, how would i make dos NTFS ? can anyone send me their boot.ini from their boot drive? it is hidden. i tried the pqmagic and it tell me that drive 1 is bad, everything is disabled. it is version 4.102 and its on a floppy. ------------------ ~ chameleon kyoshiro ~ http://win2kbox.8m.com [This message has been edited by chameleon (edited 03 November 1999).]

here's a snip: 1) How do you turn on SMP support in Q3Test? Go to the console (type ~ to bring down the console) and type "r_smp 1". You will need to restart the game once you've made the change. 2) Which OS are you using for Q3 SMP? Why won't it work under Win98 / Win2K / Linux? I'm using Windows NT 4.0 (SP5). The DamageBox II has two 504MHz Celeron 300As and a TNT2 card. I'm using the 2.08 Detonator TNT drivers. To my knowledge, NT4 is the only OS under which Q3Test supports SMP properly. It ain't right yet in Win2K or Linux, and Win98 doesn't do multiprocessing. (The MacOS? Well, it doesn't even have a multitasking kernel or real protected memory space. Pfft.) 3) Why won't it work with my 3dfx card? It won't work on mine, either. My Voodoo2 locks up when I run Q3 in SMP mode. I think it's a driver problem, and I believe it affects pretty much all the 3dfx cards the same. 4) Now for the really important question: how much does it help? Time to bust out some timedemos! These are all run on the DamageBox II, with two 504MHz Celeron 300As, a TNT2 at 150MHz, NT4 SP5, and 256MB RAM. The scores are from Q3Test v.1.08, q3demo1. I ran the tests three times and averaged 'em. drivers got released for the tnt/tnt2 that work in win2k for d3d.. try and look for them.. supposedly the ones dated 6-?-99

i get sort of the same problem except that i get a blue screen everytime i shutdown or restart, the drivers i got were from dvdutils.com that were from sigma for the hollywood plus and win2k, b4 i used the drivers everything went fine.. i could play movies if i used dvdplay from ms, only if i had WinDVD istalled otherwise it would not detect the card.. so the only thing the drivers changed were that annoying blue screen, and even after i unistalled the drivers i still get the blue screen, im thinking of formatting just to get the screen to go away ..i'll try some other fix meanwhile ..if i get anywhere i will post.

supposedly as i hear d3d was taken out for some reason, and will be put back in RC3. but if you have a Voodoo3000 then you can put in drivers from 2114 and enable d3d/glide/opengl ..which i have, but like i said, ms took it out and no vid card company has released win2k drivers yet ..so its a wait situation for anyone without v3 i guess.
