    win2k g400 drivers & quake 3

Win 2K GL Gaming If any of you Windows 2000 beta testers out there are having problems running Quake 2, 3 or any other OpenGL game the problem is probably due to you having a Windows 9x OpenGL32.dll in your game directory. To get things running under Windows 2000 you will need to remove this file from the game directory, obviously if you are dual booting back to Windows 9x and wish to game there as well you will have to replace the file.
  3. Yeah baby, it finnally has arrived, this time it's a 3.4mb download.. so maybe it has the openGL and D3D. I am just a bout to install it now.. you can get it here: ftp://ftp.matrox.com/pub/mga/archive/win_2k/1999/w2k500.exe

New Win2k drivers for Matrox G400

[English] PDREADME.TXT MATROX GRAPHICS INC. 1999.11.25 Matrox PowerDesk for Windows 2000 Revision 5.00.013 Contents ======== - Description of this release - Installation - More information - Notes, problems, and limitations Description of this release =========================== Matrox PowerDesk software includes a display driver and display utilities. With this software, you can take full advantage of your Matrox graphics hardware and you can access additional Matrox display-related features. Installation ============ To install Matrox PowerDesk, start the "setup" program included with it, then follow the on-screen instructions. The setup program will only install software if a Matrox graphics card model supported by the setup program is installed in your computer. More information ================ For more information on Matrox PowerDesk, see the help file included with it. For information specific to your Matrox graphics card, see your Matrox or system manual. Notes, problems, and limitations ================================ - DirectDraw, Direct3D and DirectVideo support The DirectDraw driver we provide is compatible with DirectX 2 (and later) and includes Direct3D support. For our DirectDraw/Direct3D driver to be called, and benefit from hardware acceleration, Microsoft DirectX 2 (or later) MUST be installed, even for programs originally made for DirectX 1. Also, if a recent version of DirectX isn't installed, some Matrox PowerDesk features may not be available. We provide DirectX on the Matrox CD-ROM. The latest DirectX is available from the Microsoft Web site, and is included with many DirectX programs. IMPORTANT: If the DirectX setup program prompts you to replace the existing display drivers, click "No". Otherwise, the setup program installs display drivers which are not as optimized as the Matrox drivers and which do not support PowerDesk software. Note that depending on the origin of your Microsoft DirectX software, it may not include DirectVideo support. For faster playback of Indeo and Cinepak AVI files, you should install Microsoft DirectVideo support. - Matrox bus mastering This driver supports bus mastering. Bus mastering is a feature that allows expansion cards to perform tasks at the same time as your computer's CPU. If you have a fast Pentium computer (faster than 166 MHz), the display performance of most programs is improved when bus mastering is used. To use bus mastering with 3D (DirectX) programs, your graphics card needs an interrupt request (IRQ). Most computers automatically assign an IRQ to graphics cards, but some do not. If your graphics card hasn't been assigned an IRQ, programs that use Matrox bus mastering may not work properly. For more information, see your Matrox or system manual. - DirectDraw and Automatic Power Management As stated in "Microsoft DirectX Release Notes", September 30, 1995, a DirectDraw game may be unable to restore properly if it is suspended by Automatic Power Management utilities. - Installation in different language versions of Windows If you install software in a language different from the language of your operating system (for example, English software on a Japanese system), you may have problems with text and dialog box controls being cut off. This is because of differences in system fonts. - OpenGL support Note the following limitations related to the OpenGL driver included with Matrox PowerDesk: - OpenGL support may not be included in some versions of Matrox PowerDesk. For a version of Matrox PowerDesk with OpenGL support enabled, see the Matrox Web site (www.matrox.com/mga). - Regardless of your graphics card or display driver, Windows 98 only supports OpenGL acceleration with the primary display of your computer. (The "primary display" is the one that first displays information when you restart your computer.) - With the "Tribes" game, you may notice some minor display artifacts and the opening video introduction may not display properly. - Using 3D Studio Max 2.0, you may experience problems with the viewports being improperly redrawn. If this happens, simply click in a viewport to properly update their display. (This problem isn't present with version 2.5 or 3.0 of 3D Studio Max.) - DualHead Multi-Display mode under Windows 2000 If you have a DualHead-supporting graphics card and you apply "DualHead Multi-Display" mode under Windows 2000, Matrox PowerDesk automatically clears the Windows check box called "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display". (This check box is in the advanced settings of the "Display Properties" dialog box.) Under Windows 2000, please don't enable this check box while using DualHead Multi-Display mode -- doing so may cause problems. When DualHead Multi-Display mode is disabled, this option will be automatically restored to its previous setting. For more information on DualHead Multi-Display mode, see context-sensitive help.

    4 Speakers in Win2k

There has always been a fuss about liveware3 and win2k... i first rushed to installing it after i read all the success with some ppl.. stupid to realize that the dam liveware is not working in SMP so make sure you don't have smp machine. otherwise the chances are even worst than install it without..

    Network Drives

I have noticed it too... was working quite well in RC2 and earlier releases.. I am currently using builds of server and pro win2k.. and i have noticed that server hangs even longer than pro.. :-(

    Firewall

I've tried black Ice Defender and it's pretty good at locating the ip and information.. but i realize that the program is a little slow.. what i mean is that the intrusion is already in and when you know .. it's too late... it's good at telling you the info.. it supplies you with good info.. but like i said .. it's too late when your machine gets it.. now with @guard.. it's a big new too me. but still a very useful program and has alot of features that are quite easy to understand.. i would recommend the @quard.. for it is very powerful.. all i can say is.. try them out.. you can only know which one is better by trying it out.. and know which one is suited for you ... some ppl might need a huge shield and some might just need a little dinky prog.. ;-)

hmmm, i've tried it in earlier builds but was hard to get used to .. i like my servU ftp.. I hope you can get it right.. cuz it's suppose to be a darn good ftp server.. ;-) g00duck DOlce

    Win2k better at o/c'ing than 98??????

dam it.... i though it was easy to overclock in win2k :-( . just ****ty that i can't overclock mine in win98 or even win2k at 682mhz on my abit BP6.. i guess i am happy with 605mhz at 1.95 volts.. but 682mhz is just the next front side bus up too.. arrgh.. why couldn't they have made 112fsb, 115fsb, (117fsb 1/3 1/4) cause 110fsb on my 366's are just not what these things are able to do.. it can go more... well i should be happy with dual 366's at 605mhz. only costed me $83 tax included for these cheap cpus.. i even bought an extra one.. hehe

    Winamp 2.5e sometimes crashes?

hmmmmm... quite strange that everyone seems to have winamp2.5e working just fine in their system under win2k RC2... well mine does too...[now] at first it kept on crashing... even from a fresh off the boat intall.. i then figured it out. It was the dam skins... took off all the skins.. and now voila.. works like a millions $$$'s without crashing yet once.. ;-) my best bet to you is maybe try a barebones winamp.. none of that extra stuff.. dolce

    Win2K - RC2 Build 2170 Pro

it's hard to answer your questions cause for me.. i haven't had the opportunity to go to safe mode :+) and i would like to leave it that way.. I don't explore much of it.. i just know of the problems that come for me.. and luckily for me.. there has been no problems with win2k except that my video card does not have opgengl for win2k.

    Win2k -Rc2 build 2167 --

Just got a hold of build 2167 pro.... Same old same old... just minor udates for drivers supports and bug fixes... This build Requires CD-Key //Dolce

    Win2k -Rc2 build 2167 --

Just another interim build.. 2167 IS NOT RC3....
  20. dolce

    Updates?? HA!

both newer builds are Interim builds.. they are from inside microsoft.. i guess they leaked out to the public. cause i think beta testers were not suppose to get them.. Rc3 is soon to be out.. i think in about a week or so... but anyways, if you don't know where to get it and don't have a fast connection.. don't bother cause the Final should be this February.. lets keep our fingers cross that it be a flawless OS.. Until then.. we'll just have to sit back and see if software companies for your hardware are working hard on getting us those dam drivers for win2k for our hardwares...
  21. weeeeeeeeeeee..... Now all you hard core games with all those kick butt video cards, can test your strength out with the new edition of 3Dwinbench2000, Win2k Compatible... You can download it at ftp://ftp.zdnet.com/pub/zdbop/3dwinbench/3d00.exe The only downfault is that it's 90 dam megs.. New for 2000! 3D WinBench 2000 uses the new DirectX 7.0 interface, which means you get to see the benefits and the performance of hardware transformation and lighting up close and personal. Other highlights of the new version include a brand-new processor test suite and new quality tests for the latest innovations in 3D rendering. 3D WinBench 2000 measures the performance of a PC's 3D subsystem, which includes the Direct3D software, the monitor, the graphics adapter, the graphics driver, and the bus used to carry information from the graphics adapter to and from the processor subsystem. You can use 3D WinBench 2000 to test hardware graphics adapters, drivers, and the value of such enhancing technologies as MMX. What you can't test is Windows NT 4.0, because it doesn't support hardware acceleration of the Windows Direct3D interface that 3D WinBench 2000 uses; 3D WinBench 2000 runs only on Microsoft Windows 98, Windows 98SE (Second Edition), and Windows 2000 (RC2 or later). 3D WinBench 2000 aims to measure both the current and future state of hardware 3D accelerator performance. *I have an Abit BP6 2'celeron 366's SL36C week 35 overclocked to 606mhz at 1.90volts.. G400 32meg DH video... Too bad darn Matrox's software department is too slow on the drivers.. But until then we'll have to see...

    Win2k -Rc2 build 2167 --

like all updated builds.. there are many issues that are fixed and alot of added support for certain things... i don't exactly know what was fix and of any new drivers... All i know is that my machine was running on 2128 fine and then fine on 2151... no even better 2167.. i don't mind upgrading cause the less bugs, the less to worry about problems coming up later..

    What's the currnet build?

    i've got build 2167 pro.. requires a cd-key
  24. I have just recently screwed my ass around with this liveware3. The best & easiest way i've accomplished this is to download the Run.cmd.. Install LiveWare3 normally and then go to your hardware/properties and click on sb live and unistall the drivers. reboot after that.. "notice you have no sound" after the reboot.. last and least is now you run the Run.cmd ,reboot then back to the properties and then install the oemsetup.inf, reboot & VOILLA :+) [NOTE!!!](Edit the Run.cmd to make the path to where ever your drive may be, by default it's C:\ , whereas mine is D:\) [This message has been edited by dolce (edited 04 November 1999).]
  25. simple.... in your device manager, scoll down to sound, video, and game controllers and under that there will be creative sb live! right click on that and uninstall...
