I cant seem to ajust the lighting properly in Q3. The slider in the graphics option menu moves in either direction all the way, but the lighting only ajusts a fraction of what it should. Anyone else run into this? I am using a GeForce DDR by guillemont.

I have the same problem in the game. Not just a problem with the GeForce and Win2K. My boy has a pIII600 and is using a viper 770 Ultra. I have the 368 Drives installed on his machine, and WIN98 and it locks up ramdomly on him. I have the Geforce DDR guillemont with the 378 drivers and a pIII650 with WIN2K, and it locks up randomly on me even when I am in a game using Glide and my 2 voodoo 2's in SLI mode. Leads me to believe it has nothing to do with the 3D drivers. Was working find under WIN2K build 2128. Updated to final and now get: This device could not start (Code 10). Irq and memory addresses have no confilicts. Uninstalled installed so many times, wearing out the drivers ... ;-0) Went to MS site, and error says problems with drivers: If the error message occurs because of a bad device driver, it is generally because a specific subdriver in the driver stack does not succeed IRP_MN_START_DEVICE. It can be difficult to determine which driver in the stack is at fault. This behavior can occur if a driver in the driver stack is corrupted or invalid for this device. Anyone get this working in the final?

I dont get any conflicts, just that code 10 crap. Are you using the default drivers, ie. INF files, that came with WIN2K? This is driving me nuts. Only problem I really have now. BTW, the card should use just one IRQ.

I have the 3.56 driver installed for my viper 770 Ultra, also aplied the DX7 patch. But after a few minutes of play my machine just locks up. Runs great until then, but can't seem to figure out what is causing the lockups. Anyone come accross this problem. I am runing build 2128 as well.

Doesn't matter if I am in OpenGl or Glide, games lock up after a few minutes of play. ;-(

I noticed you closed my thread asking how to RC3. Was there something wrong with this?

Sorry SHS, I did not mean to offend you. I understand your point as I develope operating system software to enhance IBM's operating systems on the mainframes. I do however feel this is a different sort of animal. We are all trying to get a jump on the final release, and report problems that we run into. It is in the best interest of us all to have as many different configurations as possible run the software. Also, it's not likely that any one of us will not purchase the product when it comes out, as you know, these RC's will expire at some point and time. Thanks Ed

Yes this is a dual pII400 system as well.

Atually I have a Helios dual processor board. They were first made by Micronics then Diamond bought them out, then decided they did not want to be in the mother board business. They have four memory slots and will take 256 meg dimms. It will also support pII or pIII processors, I am currently runing dual pII 400, but am planing a migration to pIII 500's soon. I am not sure of what scsi card you have but remember if you mix U2 and U all divices will run at only U speeds. I have a 2940 U2W which as different connectors for a U2 cable and a U cable. The 10k drives will not increase your data threw put, but will decrease you access and seek times. I just purchase a 256 meg dimm,Kingston for $297 on an auction. True this is only 8ns memory, but for a server or normal applications such as you have, this is plenty fast enough. I am not sure what Diamond is selling those helios boards for now, but they work pretty darn good, and you dont have to have 2 cpu's to start with. They have a filler card so you can run one cpu then purchase another later.

I am running a Viper 770 and every time I try to run Half Life in D3D mode, I get like 1 frame per second. Havent seen any fixes out from Sierra yet either. Might have to wait for some good TNT2 drivers. I am current with all the patches for HL too.

Can't seem to find the drivers to support the MS Intelli Mouse. When I down load the latest drivers from MS, and it went to install, I receivedc a message that I had an incorrect operating system. The mouse itself works fine except for the roller button. Where can I get a driver. Thanks

Yeep, I did that, but when I went into a game I would get a black box instead of any video. The install went ok, as I deleted those files, but it did not function properly. Did you ever find the URL to download the drivers for the intelli mouse? Do you have voodoo2 installed? It installed fine for me. I modified the inf file, but when I go to use glide after just a few minutes my machine locks up tighter than virgin. I am using version 2.54.

Thanks yuppie .... by the way how did your testing go with the new build? This one, 2128 seems to work pretty good. I lowered the refresh rate down, and even my TNT2 card seems to work pretty good. I have tested it with Starsiege and Tribes so far. I got the voodoo2 cards installed, but after a bit the game locks up my whole system. I am using the viper 770, and a monster 3DII. A3D sound seems to work for a while, but if there is alot of activity, such as in Starsiege, the sound get confused. There was an existing problem with the old A3D drivers like this where there was a storage leak and a lot of scratchy noises would come out, or little or no sound. This is the MX300 sound card by diamond. I am running ULTRA2 scsi's with an adaptec 2940U2W, haven't had any problems with it yet. The tape backup software gets confused easily though. This is the backup exec software, but was taken over by VERITAS, that MS distributed with this build. I haven't been able to get the new release of the TNT2 drivers to work properly. The file version I am using is 500.2116.0200. I am running a dual PII400 on a helios MB, with 256 meg of memory. [This message has been edited by Goaks (edited 03 November 1999).]
