    Hollywood+ driver installation

I had a similar problem with mine many moons ago when installing it under Windows 98. Try changing to PCI slot its in, as thats what I found worked, and haven't had trouble since, either with Win98 or Win2k evil Homer ------------------ "Screw you guys... I'm going home!"
  2. Right, after reading in this forum, and in the Creative SB Live newsgroup, I went back to DXDiag and checked my Directsound settings. After running through the test, it reported that everything was fine with the software buffer, and it THEN tells me that my card doesn't support hardware buffer??? WTF??? What kind of junk has Creative pushed our way. I've had nothing but compatability problems with the Liveware release. Armada sounds terrible, Hidden & Dangerous is pathetic no matter what I set the accleration level too, and Q3A has intermittent sound problems. Come on Creative, get your god damned act together here!!!! I'm sure I'm not the only one who's had problems!!! evil Homer ------------------ "Screw you guys... I'm going home!"

star trek armada and live ware 2000 problems

A couple of points: 1) I have the same problem. 2) I have also tried those suggestions, about a week ago, first changing the Directsound acceleration to basic - This produced some difference, but sound still crackles and breaks up. Also, the mission briefings at the start of each mission are practically useless to me, because of sound distortion. Therefore, I replaced the drivers with the old basic ones, cos I don't use surround and haven't got any games installed currently that support EAX - end result, no difference for some reason, so went back to the full drivers. So, unless someone comes up with a fix, errrr... I'm a bit disgruntled. Laters... evil Homer ------------------ "Screw you guys... I'm going home!"

    Urban Ops in Win2k?

It worked okay for me, with a TNT2 Ultra, SB Live etc etc etc... Bit slow though, graphically, but I probably need to play with the settings a little. Otherwise, it was as stable as Rogue Spear was. evil Homer ------------------ "Screw you guys... I'm going home!"

What kind of crap is Creative releasing???

I'm glad I'm not the only one with these problems. Creative have had plenty of time to get this right, but of course... didn't!!! evil Homer ------------------ "Screw you guys... I'm going home!"

    Direct Sound in hardware

I just tested Directsound on my SB Live. It reckoned it was fine using the software buffer, and then told me that my soundcard didn't support Directsound via the hardware buffer. WTF? What kind of s**t is Creative putting out here? evil Homer ------------------ "Screw you guys... I'm going home!"

Sticky Key's in W2K Poll Survey!!! Please read!!!!

Ok, I've tested Nox ver 1.1, and the sticky button/run problem seems to have disappeared now, so it looks like it may be up to individual software developers to fix problems with some software, although with others like UT and Q3A who are having problems, it may be hardware related. At least I've got one game working properly now... Laters... evil Homer ------------------ "Screw you guys... I'm going home!"

Right, I've just installed the 1.1 update for NoX from Westwood, which apparently fixes the sticky mouse/run problem. I've yet to play to any depth, only to see if the game ran okay, so I'll let people know how I get on, probably tomorrow. Laters... evil Homer ------------------ "Screw you guys... I'm going home!"
  10. Sigma have confirmed that the beta drivers disable Hibernate and Standby, they're releasing official drivers within the next couple of weeks which should sort this out. Hope that helps. evil Homer ------------------ "Screw you guys... I'm going home!"

    FIFA 2000 on Windows 2000

No, its a problem with copy protection, even if you own the original game cd. No fix in the works either... so its back to Win98 whenever you want to play it. evil Homer ------------------ "Screw you guys... I'm going home!"

    Win2k / Voodoo3 2k / Star Wars Force Commander ?

I don't think its purely limited to Voodoo cards. I have a Creative TNT2 Ultra and either get into the game and lock up, or locks up on the loading menu, whilst under Win98 it works fine. I just think its not designed to run under Win2k. evil Homer ------------------ "Screw you guys... I'm going home!"

Fifa 99 and World Cup 98

Install either game under Windows 95/98 and import the registry settings to Windows 2000. evil Homer ------------------ "Screw you guys... I'm going home!"

Star Trek Armada Sound in win2k?

I thought about that too, but then my sound in Q3A is screwed and slows the game down. Arrrrggghhhh, can't win either way. Armada is playable, only just, and I hate just going back to 98 just for a couple of games. evil Homer ------------------ "Screw you guys... I'm going home!"

Star Trek Armada Sound in win2k?

I recommend that you run Dxdiag and go to the sound tab. I turned sound accleration to off for Hidden and Dangerous to play properly, and its still set there for Armada, although I do still get some glitches now and again, but it sounds better. evil Homer ------------------ "Screw you guys... Okay, I cleared some background services, such as Indexing which weren't being used, and tried again... Oh look, no change, so thats another solution we forget. I notice that a lot of people say they have problems with AvP, Rogue Spear, UT, and Q3A. I can't say I've had any problems relating to any of these games, they all run quite smoothly, considering they're not designed for this O/S. One other thing DosFreak... I think you might be holding your breath for Redstorm to release a patch for Rogue Spear. Seeing it was designed to run under 95/98, if it ain't broken, then they won't fix it, exactly the same response from EA who I have tangled with over getting Fifa 2000 to work, and even then they said a load of bollox anyway. (Specifically that its drivers and not copy protection which is at fault, but thats another story) I think it may just be a situation where there is no common reason, and therefore no common fix in sight. evil Homer ------------------ "Screw you guys... Can't restart after installing EZCDcreator 4.02 Patch

Well, I can't remember where I got it from now, as I had it working under RC2 ages ago. All I did was install DirectCD 2.5 from EZCD 4 cd, then you copy the hacked DirectCD 3.0 files over the top into the relevant directories. I'm sure not before long Adaptec will release the official version soon. evil Homer ------------------ "Screw you guys... I'm going home!"

Can't restart after installing EZCDcreator 4.02 Patch

I've just installed the deluxe update, but didn't reboot because I was working on something, so I checked out the forum, and started to panic when I read that people couldn't restart. So, after my download finished, rebooted... and everything worked fine. I had the Win2k ASPI layer installed, and the hacked DirectCD 3.0. Just thought I'd add that to the mixer. evil Homer ------------------ "Screw you guys... I'm going home!"

Okay, I plugged in my Mouseman USB via its PS/2 adapter, but I can't really report any changes, as I totally lost the use of my mouse. This was after two reboots too. Put it back in the USB port and it all worked again... So, thats all I can report. evil Homer ------------------ "Screw you guys... I'm going home!"

BTW, I thought I might just add that I had the mouse problem before I installed Mouseware 9.00 on my Logitech USB Mouseman. So maybe we can count out the new drivers as being a problem? ------------------ "Screw you guys... I'm going home!"

DosFreak, in answer to your question, my Logitech Mouseman Wheel is connected via USB. Motherboard is a QDI BrillianX 440BX Chipset, with latest BIOS. In case that had anything to do with it. Laters... evil Homer ------------------ "Screw you guys... I'm going home!"

Problems I have are: NoX : Right mouse button causes the run command to stay active so character runs into walls and lava. Rally Championship 2000 : Lose of car control, including steering, gear selection and accelerator. Everything else works fine - Now I've said that something will go wrong PIII 450 192Mb RAM Logitech Mouseman Wheel (Mouseware 9.00) Creative Riva TNT2 Ultra (3.76 Detonators) SB Live Value using Beta Liveware from Creative. evil Homer ------------------ "Screw you guys... Sticky keys on Rogue Spear

Quite a good response... The main similarity I see so far is soundcards and mice. I've just installed the Creative beta Liveware2k that someone posted the url to the other day, and must admit I haven't seen much of an improvement. You do seem to be correct in one thing, Beavis, the beta drivers do appear to be better than the RC stuff thats been coming out in the last couple of days. Perhaps if people could also list what other games they had problems with, that might give some ideas (Also others can install them if they own them to confirm or deny they have a problem.) Sticky keys on Rogue Spear

Okay guys... I've been keeping my eye on this sticky-key problem for quite a while now, since I installed RC2. Now, I haven't experienced any problems with Rogue Spear personally, although I have experienced the problem in some other games. Most notable of these was: Rally Championship 2000 : Steering and gear selection is erractic. NoX : Right mouse button sticks, causing character to continue running, into lava and walls etc etc. Episode One Racer : Steering problems. Now, a lot of people have attributed this to DirectX 7.0a which shipped with Win2k, but if this is the same on all systems, and people with similar configurations are suffering different problems, it must be something else contributing to it as well as DirectX. My system comprises of the following, with latest driver numbers etc etc... Intel PIII 450 (Not overclocked) 192Mb RAM QDI BrillianX 440BX Motherboard Creative Riva TNT2 Ultra Gamer (Creative 3.76 Drivers) SB Live! Value (Liveware2k from Creative) Logitech Mouseware 9.00 (Latest build) If people could provide some detail of similar configs, maybe a more common reason might be found, that could possibly help with fixing this damned annoying problem. Cheers evil Homer... ------------------ "Screw you guys... I'm going home!"
