I thinkit was just easier for GM US to grab the Holden Monaro off the Australian production line, change the drivers side and give it a new grill/bumper combo. http://www.holden.com.au/www-holden/action/modeloverview?modelid=12001 The first runout of the Monaro was a little dodgy - just a chop and weld of the Holden Commodore SS to take it from a sedan into a coupe, but now they are producing a much nicer unit. Having said that, I think that this vehicle would see a nice sales figure in the american market: http://www.holden.com.au/www-holden/action/modeloverview?modelid=15002 RWD 245kW V8 Utility vehicle with power to burn.

I'm A SysAdmin Sung to the Monty Python classic "I'm A Lumberjack" [spoken] I never really wanted to be a scientist. I wanted to be...a...a SYSADMIN! [system engineer choir and shift supervisor enter, music strikes up] Oh, I'm a sysadmin and I'm OK, I grep all night and I chown all day. [choir] He's a sysadmin and he's OK, He greps all night and he chowns all day. I ping the nodes, I do PM, I awk and perl and sed. I've got a Star Wars lunchbox, And Tron sheets on my bed! [choir] He pings the nodes, he does PM, He awks and perls and seds. He's got a Star Wars lunchbox, And Tron sheets on his bed! I ping the nodes, I change the rates, I fork the processes. I wish that all my lusers would catch some rare disease! [choir, growing slightly uncomfortable] He pings the nodes, he changes rates, He forks the processes. He wishes all his lusers would catch some rare disease! [choir brightens as they repeat chorus] I ping the nodes, I lock the /home partition and umounts. I post .gifs of my boss's daughter from his own account! [choir, very uncomfortable and trailing off] He pings the nodes, he locks the /home partition and umounts, He posts .gifsā¦? from Al Lowe's Humour Site - http://www.allowe.com [edit] 2 hours to go on last day before 2 week break, almost all work done, what's left to do - except maybe a full backup.......nah [/edit]

....or Celebration of the Purple Goat, depending on your beliefs. As I'm in Australia and I don't know of any Kiwi's here, I get to be the first to wish all posters, guests and lurkers a Merry Christmas *or other appropriate holiday* and a Happy New Year. I just got home from midnight services and wanted to wish some overseas friends (Yahoo, MSN, AOL are so useful) the best of the season so I stopped here and did the same. So everyone, eat, drink, be merry and tell someone you love them. Say a prayer that the new year brings us all less grief than this year and say another prayer for all those who are having Christmas without someone lost to crime, violence, terror, drugs, war or indifference. Peace be with us all (hopefully).

what about Garrison and Slave?

Righto, Finally got around to seeing this film and whilst I enjoyed the senseless violence in the form of Mechwarrior and the fact that Nyobi flies one mean hovership I thought it should have been longer and taken the time to explain some things further. Plus I found the sugary love-scenes to be too drawn out - wasting time. I only have two things that need clarification and they are: Firstly, the train station. They said it was where the two worlds could cross-over or something like that, however wasn't the little girl and her parents programs rather than people in the Matrix so really they were going back to the world that they came from. Although she may be able to be hidden. Next comes the ending. As Smith was the Anti-Neo and they are both resulting from imbalanced equations, thus the remainder is the Oracle (or am I wrong there). As the little girl and Mr Protect-the-oracle-kick-arse also return, I'm not sure I got the right idea. The Architect (who really should have been played by Jason Alexander) says anyone who wishes to leave may do so - so they go off to Zion I assume, but what about programs. Then the Oracle says thay they'll likely see Neo again, so I can only assume that we'll see Smith again. BTW - the scenes with the Sentinels making the face were very cool. Let's discuss.

Also remember that the actor who would be saying all this is Keanu Reeves - the same actor who has it written into his contract that he gets to say "Whoa" in every film and struggles with words of more than one syllable.

My opinion is that only bigoted people attempting hide their prejudice by pretending to be fair minded will find problems with common terms that have no sinister meaning. People who are truly fair minded would not even notice them. If that makes any sense at all. :x Next the "male" and "female" names used in so many different applications will have to be changed as these names assign prejudical gender roles to inanimate objects implying subservience by the "female" connector to the "male". In today's modern society, manufacturers cannot be allowed to determine what is normal behaviour as who are they to say the there cannot be 2 males or two females or a mixture of multiples of both. The above in italics is satire.[/i]

I don't care what people think of me for saying this, but this is one game I'll be appropriating by alternative means before deciding whether or not I should rationalise expenditure on it. I already have a lemon tree, I don't need another lemon.

Quote: So I was thinking to myself, well he can afford a new car, surely the parts to get his system up to roughly the same spec as mine wouldn't be TOO expensive. True, However once the car is paid off it's time to start saving for the house. I live in a nice place now, but I never see the money again. Given that I'm thinking of shifting jobs, a new comp is the last thing I want tp spend money on at the moment.

Hehehehehe!!! When I bought my Sony DAV-S500 I was under the impression that it would only pay region 4 discs (Australian purchase). However I have a region 1 copies of "The Patriot" and "The Green Mile" and decided to give them a go, and good golly miss molly it works without a hitch. Only thing different is that the display on the unit shows "NTSC". A win today for the consumer.

True for DVD drives. I should have mentioned that this is a home theatre system. Sorry 'bout that.

GOTY = Game of the year I am now getting annoyed as Max Payne and Deus Ex are my equal favourite games. DX lets me think and Max lets me indulge in some sweet-ass violence. However I imagine that in order to play either of the sequels, I will need to purchase a new rig in the order of a P4 10 gig with 1gb RAM and a video card with 256mb. I guess this is the price of progress but I was hoping to save a little once I get my car paid off. Looks like I'll have to go stand on the street corner again....

If you could Flame about something - what would it be?

Next on the list. People who believe that the majority 3.5 minute pop song have the ability of capturing deep emotion. I would love to see more artists release (and be publicised for doing so) albums that go for 1hr plus with only 1 or 2 tracks. Granted many electro-musicians produce some great work capable of taking you to many different places but I would like to hear more manual sessions where the band gets into the zone and just rock. I would like to hear today's equivalent of Beethoven's 5th (which incidentally was panned by critics in the early days of perfomance) available for purchase. Granted, many indie and alternative artists produce what they want to but we the purchasing public allow them to still be required to conform to the "must run less than 10 mins or I'll get bored" rule. Have we as a society become so fickle? Have we lost our ability to imagine and to become immersed in a world we can't see or read? Don't get me started on CD prices. I play music (piano, organ, clarinet, ceramic beer jug) I love music. I love my CD collection. I love to sift through my father's collection of black (and occasionally red) vinyl discs (which have a better sound quality - you know this is the truth) but why should I have to pay $AU30 for the work when the artists doesn't see this money. If the artists got to see 90% of the money te price wouldn't matter to me (and if they're making music for the right reasons they aren't after money [Metallica are you hearing this???]) and people argue that marketing costs money (which it does though good music advertises itself) and there are overheads etc etc. Why should I spend my money on buying a CD I like from a band I like who's record company uses those profits to prop up 2-dimensional talentless pop-tarts and a seemingly endless supply of pre-fab metrosecksual boy-bands in order to capture the money of the parents of 14yo sheep who think that being an individual comprises of being the "FIRST" person with the new Britney/Christina/Timberlake/etc rather than one of the crowd. Now onto Justin Timberlake or as he will most likely want to call himself to try and further "urbanise" himself "J.Timby". Here's a news flash fella: You're "upper middle class white 20-somthing male with an SUV" not a man from any number of backgrounds who has struggled through the rough urban streets of any number of western cities from any number of western countries. For JC's sake you were a mouse-kateer (sp?) - go be a suburban soccer dad. Oops - I appear to have fallen off the anger management wagon. -

Stupid people who think they have the right to blame: - the world - their parents - the government - the church - the police (in their various forms) for the fact that their lives didn't turn out how they dreamed in 8th grade. Things change and life deals out some s**t but you deal with it and it should make you a stronger person. -
It's a shame you can't install the Google toolbar clutch. I've installed it on both work and home machines and I'm unlucky if I get more than one popup per month on both machines combined. Also, it has the nifty and very handy search thingy without needing to have an entire search pane open.

Locked my self out of MMC!!! (Group Policy)
felix replied to Arin's topic in Everything New Technology
Sorry Arin, but having done this myself also in a Win2k box, the best thing to do with this is laugh at it. I don't actually think he was laughing at you. When I did it I spent a day or two trying to get around it, punched a wall and reformatted it. Then had to cop the usual round of taunts from the rest of the IT division. These days I find that if I don't laugh at these stupid things about computers I just get crazy. -

No, it's a bus that formerly was used as a tour bus on Fraser Island, Queensland, Australia. It's a sand island so carpeting isn't choice of the day.

not to mention that once started, the all-natural petro-chemical furnishings are extremely fire retardant and smell really yummy.

There's a great little proggy on Download.com called viceversa or something like that that has rich features in regards to synching two computers. We use it at work for the lappys and it works great. Cheap to buy too from memory.

Get one of "Homer's key pressing dipping birds" and put it next to the server. You have to hold an ATX power button for 5 secs to turn it off but just tap it to turn it on. Leave the bird tapping and if the power goes off it will turn your server on.
