Quote: Hello, We are looking for instructions how to install ServicePack 6a the correct way. Thanks for links, tips, recommendations.... :-) Chris From your message I reckon your name should be Chris of Borg. No wonder the Borg couldn't defeat Voyager, they're still running NT4 pre SP6a. If you have broadband, just download the service pack file. Mine is "nt_40_sp6a_128.exe" but you may find something different. If you have a modem, try and find an old cover CD. The new ones may not have it due to some dodgy M$ restrictions. Then reboot, run the *.exe and reboot again. It should all be done. It is also suggested that you re-run the service pack after any new software or hardware installation. Hope this helps your collective.

Moved from Uni and a free T1 back to home and a 33.6k modem. Now that's stupid!!!!

use msconfig.exe to find your program. Just type "msconfig" into your run line and the program lets you find stuff. -
I graduated from the following degree which has the longest name at my uni: Bachelor of Information and Communication Technology spe[censored]ing in Business Information Systems. My weighted average mark is 70% but do you think I can find a job anywhere. I reckon I must have applied for at least 30 maybe 40 jobs in Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and Brisbane. Eh, what can you do?

Oh, this request belongs in our "W4r3z requests" forum in the "l33t h4><0rs" section. Wait on, we don't have one - now why could that be?

The only problem is I've always had real issues setting it up. I always get the servers wrong. -
Simple. When you are setting up IIS in Win2k simply set your web and ftp servers to use different ports. Also, I would suggest that you do not allow anonymous access as your college IT peeps will be port scanning your entire network looking for servers offereing anonymous access to W4r3z and mp3s etc. I have been busted once for running a Web/FTp server with anonymous access and it wasn't pretty. If it wasn't for the fact that I immedately took it down they would have booted me out of uni. Peace, F.

Hi all, IE6 is generating errors (memory cannot be written errors) whenever I try to type in fields about 70% of the time. I was wondering how I go about forcing IE6 to completely reinstall. I ahve to full files for IE6 and when I run ie6setup.exe it just looks at the install and doesn't let me install it as it says it's already there. It's a pain in the arse cause I want to fix these errors. TIA. F

Got it last night. Very cool and it even runs well with all settings on medium which isn't bad when you loOK at my specs. -
I know you can get drivers for your modem from Dell as I have downloaded them before for a friend with the same modem. However you'll have to look around. However I don't know about the soundcard - you'll need to have a look on the Dell site for them too. If all else fails, you should be able to install the modem as a HSP56 Modem as that's what it installed as under Win2k.

Guys, I just installed a TNT2 M64 w/TV-out and connected it to my VCR/TV. When I watch DVD's on my monitor, all's cool. However, when I switch to TV-out the DVD plays but the picture doesn't appear. Does anyone know why this would be? I'm using the latest (21.83) detonators.

Whilst I am going to recommend this proggy - I am not an employee or friend of the developer. Use TVTool with NVidia Cards to get a TV Out w/out macrovision. TVCC2000 (available on same site) performs the same function and is freeware nut has less features. Works with all software DVD players. Read about and get TvTool here: http://www.tvtool.de/index_e.htm Provides a nice image too.

I just bought the Ricoh MP9120A which as a CDR/RW and DVD drive in one. Works really well and fast - 12x10x32 for CD 8x for DVD. Retail pack at a trade fair for $AU240 so that's about $US120. You can also get a firmware revision that makes the DVD section region free so I am a happy boy.

If you press "ctrl-alt-del" twice, the old login screen will show up.

At least yours is a software problem. My Pioneer CD-R pretty much died today so I'm going to buy one of those RICOH CD-RW/DVD-Rom combo drives to replace my two drive system. I ahve to give the Pioneer DVD back to my friend so I lost my nice slot loading system. Oh well, karma's a b1tch.

Tis not a bad site at all. I find its vibe quite refreshing as it combines the technical with the community minded. At least have a look. http://betaboard.cjb.net/

We're having scares here in Australia and possibility of one confirmed report in western sydney. There was also a scare on a dairy farm in NSW, but that was never confirmed. I don't like this one little bit.

I am looking to upgrade to a GeForce 1/2/3 soon. I was wondering which is the best one to go for which has TV-in as this is a major requirement. I don't care about TV-out, DV-out or any of that stuff, but it must have TV-In. I remember that there used to be a Guillemot that had this feature as one of my mates had one. TIA, Felix.

Sydney, I think your cross-posting arse has been watching too many "scarey movies". I have nothing else.....

Yo APK, Could I get a copy of that too please. Email addy is under the button. TIA

I was hoping to install the firmware upgrade in my car that doubles the number of cylinders from 4 to 8. I also want the wallet upgrade that allows money to be taken out in an unlimited fashion. Failing that, I'd be happy with a GF3 and 19" LCD.
-
I'm not sure about an upgrade. If there is one it'l be on the McAfee site. I got my copy from my Uni as they have an unlimited site license.
-
Version 4.5 of McAfee has issues with IE6. However version 4.51 works like a dream.

There is a GUI console message sender for XP (you could try in 2k). Follow these instructions: 1. Open computer management from administrative tools 2. Right click on "Computer Management (Local)" 3. Choose "all tasks" 4. Choose "send console message" 5. From there, it's academic with some good advanced features This might not be what you're after, but it's useful. Good luck, Felix. PS - APK, could you please send me a copy of that to me. TIA.

Well this is the updated version of the Win2k question. Remember how you could delete hidden stuff by removing "hide" and "hidden" from c:\winnt\inf\sysoc.inf? Well how do I do the same thing within XP as I wanna blow Outlook Express and accessability away. Thanks, Felix.
