Hey all, Just finished a fun experience, I had my Yahoo! mail account hacked. The name on my account had been changed to "Mr Freddy Alsopz" and the location of the account changed to Brazil. Now I'm an Australian who is not named Freddy. Still not sure how it happened, but on Monday I get an email to my other address telling me my password had been changed - NEWS TO ME!! So I had a go at recovering my password and getting a new one via the Yahoo! help page but no luck. Fortunately our Mr Alsopz didn't change my security question or my alternate email address so after answering all the required questions, I was sent a new password. I have since changed my password to a string of what would appear to be random characters and reset all the details. I was quite annoyed about it as I've had that account for 8 years. My only disappointment is that I won't get to go Dick Cheney on his arse. Bastard. I figure the only way he got in was because my password was just a word. F

Afternoon all, I'm looking for some image management software for my work. Requirements are: - Runs on MS SQL & IIS - Has both web and app interface (ASP for web interface) - Stores metadata in the SQL but leaves the images as flat files - Does not try to be an integrated content or knowledge management tool - Restricts access to flat file storage of the images (ie it serves them out rather than pointing to the location) - allows users to upload images through the system so to get a DB description I guess the easiest way to describe it would be to say the interface would be like Picasa, with a database to have the comments, names etc Everything I've found so far is either a full blown document management system with access controls etc etc or a simple directory listing ASP script, and nothing in between. I've examined TRIM and DvTDM so far and both of these are too far into the records/document management area to be useful as simple image libraries. Thanks, F

Change windows XP Pro Retail to windows xp pro OEM?
felix replied to Arin's topic in Customization & Tweaking
Yes. There is a program I've used in similar circumstances at work where you use the same key over and over through (due to cloning) and then need to change the key. It opens a dialog similar to the ones which you see when you first start the activation process. You can then put in your alternative key and hit activate and it goes through the whole process. Just search Google for "XP key changer" and obviously you'll get a whole bunch of w4r3z sites so grab it, run it, dump in your legit key and then activate it. You should be fine. Always works for me, so long as your network/internet connection is working and you haven't already activated that key more than the five or so times you're allowed. Otherwise you have to call them and sit on hold for 3.5 hours. F -
I cant get my Half-life to work on the internet to play multiplayer
felix replied to rstimpymike's topic in Games
Hopefully not a stupid question, but have you downloaded and installed the Steam client? If not, do so and use your serial number to create a Steam account, let it do it's thing and you should be fine. Remember to import your existing installation rather than allow it to download it again. If you have already done this, disregard my post and call me silly. -
How do you like the front page of NTCompatible? (Content)
felix replied to DosFreak's topic in Feedback
Hell yes. I like it like this. Far better on my 21' trinitron. -
I have service pack 2 installed and both work fine. 1. Have you done the updates for both games? 2. Are your copies legal? 3. Try slowing down video and sound acceleration to see if that helps.

Unless you can get very special drivers that go around the back of Windows to use the USB ports, you are right out of luck. NT4 does not officially support the following: USB Directx 3+ Republicans

Like thatsteveguy says, circumventing your company LAN security is bad, it could be called hacking and lead to your dismissal. Whether you have admin priveleges on your machine or not is irrelevant to the proxy server. Websense (iirc) uses sets of lists for sites, domains, addresses and words. It can be added/subtracted to by both your local network admin and new lists are also sent out by the Websense compnay. Obviously there's a reason that the sites you want are blocked, and those concerns are generally productivity, copyright/IP, [censored]ual harrasment, malicious content or economic furgality (business pay for bandwidth too). If a site has been incorrectly categorised let your admin know so they can review it. One example I can think of is www.deu[censored].com which is the site for the game but the domain name contains [censored] so it would likely be blocked.

As the page now works on CSS would it be possible to choose what style sheet we use, similar to http://www.csszengarden.com/ that way we can either use this one, the old one or any that people write themselves. It could be saved in the cookie or profile. What do you think? -
Spam, eggs, sausage and spam. Given the OP was over 5 years ago, perhaps the disk has been trashed. I wonder if "yutao" is a person or a bot? Speaking of such, i have previously suggested a 6-month timeout on threads. Phillip, what's the chance of getting a script that locks threads once they have been idle for 6 months, and perhaps archiving threads over 1 year old? I realise the board runs really fast as it is, but perhaps it would be easier to search if threads archived after 1 year.

to paraphrase Fark.com time for ip bannination to ensue

Sorry, couldn't resist after the Alienware thread.

Not sure if this has been here before. Was on my ISP help forum today. Firefox speed tweak, perhaps someone can explain what each entry does. 1. Type "about:config" in the adress field. 2. Set the value of network.http.pipelining to "true". 3. Set the value of network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to "100". 4. Set the value of network.http.proxy.pipelining to "true" 5. Create an integer called nglayout.initialpaint.delay and set it to "0" Damn so fast!!!

So firstly my sympathies to all people affected by the storms. But having looked at the pics and read the news stories I have wondered whether the authorities have turned off the speed and red light cameras in the cities and on the highways. If not, I wonder if there are any interesting results. I have to admit that one of the ideas that flickers in my brain when looking at pics of empty city streets and highways is a combination of "Midtown Madness" and NFS "Porsche Unleashed" and "Underground". I've never been through similar and so really have no appreciation of the scale of the situation. I guess the other question I have looking at the pics of Houston is "what does an empty city sound like?". With the storm coming I guess even the birds haven't stuck around. If I was a film director I would be quite tempted to try and get in there and shoot reels of film of an empty city and empty highways. Just thinking about what it took to film that short scene in "Devil's Advocate" makes one wonder.

Your Uni is actually going to open ports to allow you to use a P2P program?????? Given that I was nearly expelled from Uni for hosting an mp3 website off my dorm machine (which wasn't even able to be accessed from the outside world) I find that hard to believe. Are you actually telling them what they're for or are you just asking for the ports to be opened? If you go to the respective websites and check the help or tutorials you should find it. Limewire's ports should be in the config. It's been ages since I used Limewire as I think there are better options. Never used EverCrack.

Um right. I have a point to air. I think some people may be a little greedy as when one person uses 8 invites for themselves that's a little off. I mean you only have to wait two weeks until your new acct gets invites of you own and then you can do what you like, but with the gmail size aproaching 2.5gb I don't see the point of having eight accounts. Hmmm.

NTCompatible.com the "old coke" of the two sites. Thus why you got a response earlier in the piece about posting to a Linux forum.
-
Justbill, http://www.linuxcompatible.org/ is the cousin of this site and runs off the same database so you can keep your name, sig etc. Try over there, many here are there and there are here and we're all in this together. <edit> Just realised that this is also posted there too as the two share the "slack space" forum so who knows where you posted from. Nice one on that sharing Phillip.

I like how the theme of your list takes a sudden detour with "Full Batman Costume". What price are you thinking of for "Nivdia Evga 6800GT video card"? Thanks, F -
Here's a bad joke, looking to trade for equally bad joke in similar condition

Apologies to the French. J. Chirac has officially raised the French terror alert from "Run" to "Hide". There are only two higher alert levels in France, which are "Surrender" and "Collaborate". The rise was precipitated by a recent fire at France's white flag factory - effectively crippling their military.
