    Professional vs server

Actually I prefer MS FTP Server over ServU as it automatically uses the account information of the NT box it is installed on. Also, shared directory configuration is very easy. ------------------ Written on Win2000 using: PII 300 Aopen AX6B 160mb RAM i740 8mb SBLive! LiveWare! Driver update for win2k.

There are still some small problems like Gambler said, but I think they have improved the sound quality as far as mp3s and games are concerned. But then again, perhaps it's just me wanting to believe that they are better. What the hell, they work and they sound good. 1 2 3 HOORAY!!!!! ;( ------------------ Written on Win2000 using: PII 300 Aopen AX6B 160mb RAM i740 8mb SBLive! Liveware 3.0 for Windows2000: Where the hell is it?

What we need is for a person who has diplomatic immunity to go down to Creative Labs HQ and shoot a few people and encourage them to support Win2k. That goes for Intel as well and their lack of support for their graphics products under Win2k. Some of us can't afford to buy new stuff and need the stuff we own to work properly. If companies don't want to support their products, there must be a way to report them to some type of comission to get them f%&ked over for bad practise. /rant ------------------ Written on Win2000 using: PII 300 Aopen AX6B 160mb RAM i740 8mb SBLive! ATI TV WONDER !!emergency!!!

It might be easier to grab your VCR and plug the VCR's audio out into your sound card's Aux in. That's what I've done. Sounds better anyway as my tuner doesn't deliver stereo sound but my VCR does. ------------------ Written on Win2000 using: PII 300 Aopen AX6B 160mb RAM i740 8mb SBLive! VM-Ware for Win2k rocks

I just finished installing a couple of OS's under VMware, on Win2k. This is so much better for experimenting with different OS's than the dual-boot, multi partition option. Now I've got a month to get the money together to register the evaluation version. ;( ------------------ Written on Win2000 using: PII 300 Aopen AX6B 160mb RAM i740 8mb SBLive! Creative Labs jerkoffs

A big thumbs down to the Creative Labs driver development team for their removal of support for the PCI128. There are some people who are going to be pis5ed off. I just hope that they don't have similar thoughts about the live series. Just my 8.5c (10c - 2c hidden taxes + .8c GST rounded down to .5c) (In case you're wondering about my final remark - Australia is changing tax systems, dropping hidden taxes and introducing GST) ------------------ Written on Win2000 using: PII 300 Aopen AX6B 160mb RAM i740 8mb SBLive! VM-Ware for Win2k rocks

VMWare - Virtual Machine Ware This program allows you to run Virtual Machines from within your current OS. You start VMware, configure the properties of the virtual machine including HD size and simply install your new OS as if it was on it's own machine. VMware will share access to sound, video, network (bridged), CD-Rom, floppy, mouse, keyboard etc. It is much like using WinVNC but with your hardware. It makes the bios settings & virtual hard drive as files. Thus, the number of guest OS's you can use is only limited by your storage space. I currently have Redhat Linux 6.1 and Win98SE running as seperate, guest OS's under Win2k with all facilities working as if it was actually installed. It's really great for playing with OS's without having to format etc. One drawback though is system performance as you need the processor and RAM for two os's when running. Aside from this however, it means that if I screw an OS, or get sick of it, I just delete the Disk file and no questions asked. Another really cool thing is to run Win98 in full screen, and as soon as it shuts down you're back in Win2k - i've freaked a couple of my friends out that way. I downloaded the trial and am using it, but I like it so much that I'm going to have to buy it in a month. I better start saving. Secret options in windows 2000 found!!!

They've forgotten one: Install and activate all possible accessibility options ;( - because anyone who uses this OS is obviously afflicted with one handicap or another so it's best to compensate for all possible ones. I mean it's so much easier for your OS to decide that you want to continue to turn left/right forever during a Action Half-Life knife fight. /soapbox ------------------ Written on Win2000 using: PII 300 Aopen AX6B 160mb RAM i740 8mb SBLive! As I said, I don't mind sending it on, but you'll have to give an email address. win2k annoyances

Admins, Is it possible for me to upload Tweakui2k somewhere on this site so that people can download it, rather than me sending to everyone who asks (not that I mind ). As I understand it, it would not be a copyright breech for it to be mirrored on this site. ------------------ Written on: PII 300 160mb RAM i740 8mb 20gb Seagate 6gb WDCaviar Using 100% Australian Made recyclable electrons
  20. Do you log in as Administrator? Does the account you are using have "admin" and/or "power user" privelages? If the account only has "user" privelages, some progs will not install. If so, and you are the admin, check/give admin rights and try again. Other than that, this has me stumped!!! ------------------ Written on: PII 300 160mb RAM i740 8mb 20gb Seagate 6gb WDCaviar Using 100% Australian Made recyclable electrons
