Lifeview's FlyVideo '98 FM works fine in both the TV tuner and FM tuner. A few compatibiliy problems with W2k recognising the card, but it doesn't matter because the software stil works, and the picture/sound is good. ------------------ The information contained in this post has no nutritional value. It will have two 'unknown' multimedia devices before you install the drivers. firstly, use the driver update wizard to install the new drivers you just downloaded from http://www.lifeview.com.tw. secondly, reboot and open your device manager. It will show two multimedia devices with exclaimataion marks over them. Ignore that. thirdly, run the setup.exe in the files you previously downloaded. Then set it up for your country. Try both preview and overlay mode. I'm WinNT at the moment so can't remember which one works. fourthly, do your usual channel scan and it "should" work. At least mine did. Just ignore the fact that the device manager says it doesn't work. No problems at all. I wanted to test all my devices and their corresponding drivers before I move from NT4 to 2000 so I grabbed an old HD and put 2000 on with all newest drivers for my stuff and everything is working great. My Live Value sounds perfect as ever. The new drivers are great, no problems with anything and as always four-speaker sounds great. Two thumbs up for the Microsoft/Creative Combo ------------------ The information contained in this post has no nutritional value. I put money on your comment. A good clean out of your drivers helps when installing gold drivers over beta ones. Thanks for passing that, wind. ------------------ The information contained in this post has no nutritional value. I agree with Arin - it must be that they get up late and don't shower. Personal Hygeine doesn't seem to be too important to some. <rant> **This next part mightn't apply to people outside Australia** Also, why are there so many people who don't know bugger all coming to shows/fairs to buy computers and parts. They should be asking dumbass questions like those at places like Harvey Norman (it's a big electrical retailer for those Non-Aussies amongst us). Questions like "what support do I get for my machine if windows won't install?" Answer: None - they sell stuff cheap for people who know what they are doing somewhat. Not people who need help telling the BIOS to boot off the CD. If you need help go to a retailer who provides support. Also, I hate hearing 12 year olds telling me that a 32xCD-Rom is better than a 6xDVD-Rom just because the number is bigger and they don't know sweet F A. Keep computer fairs for the people who know one piece of hardware from another. </rant> ------------------ The information contained in this post has no nutritional value. Has anyone else had the problem where any half-life mod other than the original freezes solid their machine (need reboot) just before you can start shooting (ie as the console retracts). Never happened before and my rig specs haven't changed since last time I re-installed. Does anyone know where I can find the trailers for Dolby or THX so I can test my surround set up. I finally got aroung to setting it up using my SB Live Value, LiveWare 3 for NT & four speakers and "movie mode on" and I want to test it. Thanks. ------------------ -------------------- I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it. [This message has been edited by felix (edited 09 March 2000).]

Had the same problem. Although the S3 chipsets will work fine under Win2k in single monitor setup, the HCL has no S3 chipsets listed in multi mode. Sorry mate, you have to get another cheap, non-S3 card for multi setup. ------------------ -------------------- I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.

I'm sure you need Win2k advanced server installed at home on that dual xeon server sitting under your bed. Perhaps the fact that it needs a massive amount of RAM will ensure that your networked toaster cooks better and your kettle recovers quickly from the "overboil of death". If you are using a pirated copy for business use you can expect to be nailed to the wall if you are caught. Don't get me wrong, I also have a burned copy of the professional CD from work, but that's because I only use it on my work machine. So I rationalised it out that it was okay becuase I was using it on a quasi-work machine. ------------------ -------------------- I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.

Why do people always recommend NetBeui. It is a much poorer substitute for TCP/IP and has a greater data corruption rate. TCP/IP is so simple to set up with setting similar to this and it's so good: IP Range: 192.168.0.x Subnet: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: IP of machine connected to 'net. DNS: ISP's DNS Domain or W'group: Anything you like. And good Lordy, go tell it on the mountain it works. Screw that cheap-arse NetBeui Crap. Only use it if you want to screw your zips and mp3s. ------------------ -------------------- I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.

Does anyone know if there's a way (reg hacks) to move that God forsaken help item in the root of the start menu in NT4. I hate it, if i want help i come here or M$ knowledge base. Besides, if i needed basic help, I shouldn't be using NT4. ------------------ -------------------- I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.

I have 3 ideas. I once had four ideas but I got drunk one night and lost the first one. Pity that. ~+~ Sorry dude, am writing a stupid report for uni and am getting really pixed that they asked the same question twice. I was just looking for something to vent my frustration. Further explainations - read the sig ------------------ -------------------- I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.

It can be hard for an OS to keep up when your hardware is so far over the bleeding edge that it can't even recognise it. Perhaps this needs to be kept in mind when b1tching about Win2k. ------------------ -------------------- I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.

Did you re-create the Win2k Pro machines domain account on the PDC? It will not be able to use the old account as you will have a different SID. ------------------ ------------------------- I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.

I am not familiar with that board, thus i ask if it is an AT board, as I also have that problem with an old machine built on an AT board. It could be that 2000 tells the board to shut down, but because the AT supply cannot be soft switched, it stays on and resets. Just a thought. ------------------ ------------------------- I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.

Is "TCP/IP Retard" a hybrid of Microsoft's TCP/IP protocol? I haven't heard of it. What if the games he wants to play only use IPX/SPX eg Dark Reign, Starcraft (LAN not 'net) there are others but I'm too busy trying to find information on "TCP/IP Retard" to remember them. ------------------ ------------------------- I don't suffer from insanity. Well it's Thursday here downunder (Australia for theose who are geographically inept) and there don't appear to be many "I just bought Win2000 and it won't work" questions up yet. Perhaps it hasn't been released here. ------------------ ------------------------- I don't suffer from insanity. I enjoy every minute of it.
