Try using TweakUI, I know that will get rid of documents, and I THINK it nukes links also

Once you do install 98, it's gonna take over the MBR, so you'll have to run 2k setup again and select repair. Repair boot and startup settings (something along those lines) and you will have the correct boot menu. As for pagefile.sys, leave it and just leave the other stuff on C:\ also. 98 will only put a few small files on C:. like autoexec.bat etc etc.

ME: Hi, I'm curious to the status of your Windows 2000 drivers. On your Windows 2000 Compatability page, it says the following: "Drivers should be available by release of W2K Nvidia reference drivers are available". Since windows 2000 has been out for almost a month now and your site does say, '..available by release date', can we expect drivers soon?? I also found it very dissapointing that this posting was not made until the official release date and inturn contradicts the statment of drivers being released by this time. Other manufactureres such as creative have released official drivers for their tnt based cards, albeit beta, they have still provided something for their customers. I'm am sadly disapointed with the lack of support from a large company with an equally large reputation backing their products. Too bad about the driver/customer support eh? THEM: Dear Valued Customer, We'd love to give you the answer you seek, but we have no access to the answer. NEW PRODUCT OR DRIVER RELEASE DATE INFORMATION Please understand that we in Technical Support are not privy to new product of driver release information. We find out basically when you do: when it's shipped to the stores or posted on our web site. Technical Support is NOT part of the product or driver development nor engineering departments; we handle resolving problems on products after they are released. Our drivers and BIOSes for our video cards are available on our web site: http://www.diamondmm.com/, go to Customer Care and either choose "Drivers Only" or go to Technical Support and choose the specific product in question. The latest, as well as previous driver versions, are archived on our FTP server: ftp://ftp.diamondmm.com/pub/. what a W*NK!

Mebe we should try emailing some of these threads to hardware manufactures so they can see how F*cked up the situation really is!

This tweaks relieves NT of the task of detectin the L2 cache of your CPU, that IT! 1meg cache on your CPU?? I don't think so. when you change the value, set it to decimal and input the correct ammount. You will probably not even notic any change to your system running. it's just makes NT's life a lil easier during hardware poling -

Of course it's going to overwrite the frst install. For somethign like quake, back up the files in baseq (I think) folder, then install it. Replace the original files, then you should have all the game stats and settings no matter what OS

You can enable the guest account, or create a new user using the login/pass for users on the 98 machine, it's a little more secure that way

there are 2 EXE files there, one fo them allows you to run the game. just try it and see, it won't hurt you

I'll give you a hint..... VIDEO DRIVERS!! sort that out then come back and make a post. try the search button.

I can't solve your problem totally, but I had a similar prob wiht NT4 linked to 98. I reduced the time by only using TCP/IP and disabling TCP/IP Netbios Helper service Good luck

DARN! beat me to it!

Right click taskbar, goto properties. Uncheck use personalized menu's Go into IE options and turn off the same option. that's it, all fixed!!
-
Run the actual EXE file, NOT the shortcut that the link uses. BUT you are going to have problems creating players. You'll have to import a player profile form 98 or something to get around it Good luck

run gpedit.msc from the run dialogue box. goto admin templates for both computer configuration and user configuration. Select sytem, double click Disable Autoplay. Change the option to enable. This has disabled autoplay tunr autoplay on in TweakUI and it refreshes in explore when you put in a new CD, but doesn't run the autorun prog
