what kind of network setup do you have? I can help you more if you can get on IRC undernet. #NTCompatible Then we can run throuhg it from scratch See ya there!!
-
I don't know much about cable, but if your are after a diff IP address for your client machine, you should ask your cable suppiler about the setup. IF you are just attempting to share the same IP address, in 98 make sure you have your DNS entries set to your ISP primary and secondary IP, and set the gateway to YOUR server's internal IP address. BTW, there are plenty of IRC networking channels, all you have to do is ask.

For those of you who have been having problems with your clients being able to DCC outside of your network with 2k being the server, thanks to a little bit of research by Tangra, and some trail and error by myself and YuppieScum the problem has been licked!!. First of all, in the IRC Options/DCC/Options on the client machine(s) set the first and last ports that you wish to use. For a single DCC outgoing connection setting first and last to something like 5555 is OK (but use whatever you like). If you need more than one outgoing connection, a range must be use to cover the max conenctions you need. eg First:5550 Last:5560 will cover 5550-5560 inclusive. THEN on the host machine (Win2k), goto the properties of you net connection/sharing/settings/services. Hit ADD. Call it DCC and enter the first port number that you set in IRC DCC options make sure TCP is selected, then enter the name or IP address of your client machine. Thats it!! If you are using a range of ports, don't forget to add each port seperatly to the services so that they are all allowed through. I would also suggest using differnet ports for different machines. Hope it helps

I have the same, and so do a lot of people. It's because you have an ACPI computer. You can set it to standard PC in Device Manager, but you will then not be able to shutdown automatically, you'll have to use the good old off switch. if you have huge probs, mebe this is the best sollution for you
-
OK, here's the story: I had approx 8 devices all sharing IRQ 9, so I switched from ACPI to standard PC (To hopefuly solve my notorious Quake 3A probs with my Vid card). This fixed the IRQ sharing probs, but now my computer won't shutdown. I have enabled APM, which of course stopped the "it is now safe to turn off your computer" BS, but now, my machine just reboots itself when then shutdown is complete. I've searched the forum for ages and all probs related to this seem to be with ABIT Mboards, but I have an ASUS P2b-F BIOS 1012.001. BTW, it is not giving me a BSOD when it shuts down, nothing but black screen, then it reboots. If I have overlooked somethign please help me out here. Thanks Palos, but I'm not getting a BSOD on shutdown, it just doesn't seem to kill the power. I mentioned this in my initial post. Please, any other ideas are welcome -

is it just me, or does that address look a lil wrong??

I'm not sure of Sb Live, but my SB PCI64 was doing the same thing. I went into multimedia options, and turned the acceleration for the sound card down. it didn't make it perfect, but it sure as hell made it better.

Hey Dolce, does your IRC still work??

Depending on how bad it is, turn off TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper Service, this helped me somewhat.

May I recommend the search button!!

Nvidia's 3.78 drivers and Win2k? Did they work for ya?
Ekstreme replied to Quantus's topic in Hardware
I've used every version since 3.53 and have only had one problem. Quake 3 will not work unless I have done a complete format and install. Everythign else works, it's just Quake that has the problem. ------------------ PIII 450 128 MB Ram DV 770 32Mb TNT2 (Det. 3.78) Quantum Fireball 8.4Gb HDD Tekram DC-310 SCSI Adapter Panasonic CW-7502 SCSI CD-R Creative Sound Blaster PCI 64 (ES 1370) Daewoo 710b 17" Windows 2000 2195.1 ------------------------- #NTCompatible on UNDERNET!!! -
I just downlaoded the supposed NEW Creative TNT drivers, only to find out that they were actually Det 3.76. Wouldn't you think that they'd be using 3.78, after all, it has been out since the 14th Feb?? HOWEVER, I think that these drivers will suport TV out, after reading through the setup files. Don't quote me on that though. ------------------ PIII 450 128 MB Ram DV 770 32Mb TNT2 (Det. 3.78) QF 8.4Gb HDD Tekram DC-310 SCSI Adapter CW-7502 CD-R SB PCI 64 Windows 2000 2195.1 ------------------------- #NTCompatible on UNDERNET!!! WTF are you on about try to put personal attacks on me? I have no qualifications in this matter none whatsoever, as with 99.99% of the users of this forum. If you don't like people venting their steam in here about manufacturers etc, then push off. If it makes you sick, go do it else where. The only qualification you need around here is ability to detect lamers, and S**T we see alot come through here. OOPS I got personal >:

WE know this man, that's what we are all saying!! The fact is, they've had the time, the still are dicking us around. What I am saying is that the driver they used is old. There was a newer driver out 3-4 days before 2k release and they didn't use it. AS with the sound cards, well, don't get me going!
-
Good find Dr, now I might be able to play Phantom Mence properly! Thanks
-
Sorry man, but I know at the point you are @, anything is worth a try. I have huge probs, namely with Q3a. I have to format when I do a video driver update so that quake will run. Perhaps you should reset you bios. make the above changes, format and reinstall. It can't hurt to try *shrug* [This message has been edited by Ekstreme (edited 19 February 2000).]

WTF do you mean "Creative does not have to release official drivers until after W2K goes retail (and they accomplished this)"?????? They haven't accomplished S**T the only 2k driver they have out now is for the Grahiks cards, and it IS 3.76 repackaged as their own. Creative have had MANY MANY months to develop these drivers, there's no two ways about it. Simple fact....

Diamond have FINALLY put a statement on their page as to the status of their products. They took their time, but it's there. No word on drivers baring their sig as yet, but hey, what do you expect form Diamond?

FINALLY Diamond MM are starting to come to the party!
Ekstreme replied to Ekstreme's topic in Hardware
i think you misread it. it says that drivers should be released by them at release time for 2k. Since this compat list was released the day of 2k being released (how typical for DMM), I think it's going to be a little while of. DMM were only telling you to use the curent nVidia releases as a temp alternative to the ****ty MS driver. Have a lil faith ------------------ PIII 450 128 MB Ram DV 770 32Mb TNT2 (Det. 3.78) Quantum Fireball 8.4Gb HDD Tekram DC-310 SCSI Adapter Panasonic CW-7502 SCSI CD-R Creative Sound Blaster PCI 64 (ES 1370) Daewoo 710b 17" Windows 2000 2195.1 ------------------------- #NTCompatible on UNDERNET!!! -
This came from Creative new tnt release, it might help...... Ensure that you have the following suggested settings in your system BIOS setup: 1. Enable "Assign IRQ to VGA" if possible. 2. Disable "VGA Palette Snoop". 3. Disable "Video BIOS Cache" and "Video BIOS Shadow". 4. Disable "C800-CBFFF Shadow" or similar options. 5. Set AGP Aperture Size to about half the size of system RAM size. ------------------ PIII 450 128 MB Ram DV 770 32Mb TNT2 (Det. 3.76) QF 8.4Gb HDD Tekram DC-310 SCSI Adapter CW-7502 CD-R SB PCI 64 Windows 2000 2195.1 ------------------------- #NTCompatible on UNDERNET!!!

installed tried, no probs here, other than my customary format to make Q3 work with the drivers. Everything else works fine otherwise
