Would anybody be interested in an IRC channel for the users of this forum? Sometimes, the forum does get a bit slow especialy when it's an emergency and you need answers fast. So perhaps this isn't such a bad idea. Most of the windows2000 channels seem to be run by fewls with even less patience than the members of this forum *jokes* Any thoughts? I have opened #NTCompatible on Undernet and invite people to come and join. I also invite senior members of this forum to donate their time and help administor the channel. email me @ ekstreme@dogmail.com, ICQ 1126436, or look out for Ekstreme on Undernet if you have an further queries.

OK I reinstalled it again, this time all that happens is the screen goes white. Kinda like what happens when you use the default 2k drivers (no I'm not using them) My copy of quake works on 9x machine fine, and I HAVE had it working on this thing. Just check event viewer after running another failed Quake session and there is no error there at all Guess it's UT for the time being. and the crowd cheers as they lift SHS to their shoulders I have only one CPU and I run 2000 bweaudifully, as do most of my friends. 95% of my games work, except quake 3 If dual CPU's was required/recommended it would say so in the sys requirement, which it don't!

1. No s**t. Boy are you clued it. 2. Why the hell else would MS put DX7 in their OS? i suggest you read some more. 3. My graphic problems are not related to drivers or the OS. Not that I can assertain anyhows. At this point, it seems that I have a hardware conflict somewhere. *** ******!! Did anyone else here ever hear that sarcasm was the lowest form of wit? Yes, I have tried all that has been suggested, with no luck so far. At this point in time, I have given up. YES YES i hear the booing! I just got UT, so I'm gonna start getting into that. Strange thing is, UT works FINE!!

Update your drivers to version 3.66 or 3.65 and perhaps try up[censored] UT THe drivers might help atleast

"But the fact, that the latest games do not run makes me starting to believe, that maybe Microsoft doesn't want Win2000 to become a gaming OS" WTF is this about?? NONE of the games out there were written to run on 2000?? so how the hell can you slag them all down?? WAIT!! Have patience, most fo the titles out there will be fixed. Look at Half-life, that's been fixed wiht a patch!! Most of the problems wiht games atm are only driver related, which isn't windows realted. Go blame your hardware manufacturer. If all else fails, beta test something like Tamagotchi v2b, you obviously are not equiped to handle this OS.

I tried, I failed sorry man. Prolly gonna have to wait for an update

Man are you asking for a blasting from your FIRST post!!! GO SEARCH THE PREVIOUS POSTS!!!!!! *POP* F**K there goes another vein in my forehead!!! Not a good start, but hey WELCOME!

Most silly lil Lucas arts games use that auto insert exe. that only points to the actual EXE file. I can't be 100% sure that Rogue Squadron does it too, but jedi knight, MOTS, Phantom Menace etc etc etc all do it. run the other exe file in the isntalled dir and that should work. This doesn't check the DX versions and just runs Good luck

Easiest way to do it, is to go to seldzar.dhs.org, or chameleons new page win2kbox.cjb.net and get tweakUI for 2000. Install it, then it's under the Paranoia Tab. [This message has been edited by Ekstreme (edited 09 January 2000).]

Thanks Greggy I had a prob similar to this in Nt4 wiht my scsi card. I had to remove it and reinstall it every time I applied a service pack, or even setting up my sound card. Turns out there was a conflict wiht PCI slots, however I cannot change the IRQ settings oh well!

OK, this is the setup... 98se networked to 2000 2195.3 internet connection sharing is enabled and all working like a charm; sort of. the only problem is IRC. The 98 machine can receive DCC sends but cannot send. Can anyone please help me configure it so that DCC sends will be permitted through ICS? Thanks all

if you really have anything important that you have modified I would, But otherwise, don't bother. I don't

well, in my opinion (yes my opinion so no one argue saying I'm wrong!!) I think that game performance seems only slightly better. BUT I've been having a hell of a time getting my tnt2 working properly! The drivers have gotten alot better, well for some of my hardware anyhows. Each system is different so ask peeps who have a similar setup. the newer buidls are definately faster and more reliable than RC2, so I do however recommend an upgrade to Final if you can get your hands on it.

well, i'm back and still have my sytem enabled I found out that disabling video rom bios shadow before installing the drivers helped. Seems to make a bit of a performance drop, until each Q3 level is cached. I then enabled it again and it works still. Slight performace loss also This could be the drivers however, I might go back and test it with the 3.65 i'm interested in what others have in their BIOS settings?
-
well, if I don't post for a few hours, that means I'm formatting AGAIN!

The only thing in my Bios settings that I think my be contributing to this problem is "Video Memory Cache Mode" I currently have it set to USWC (uncacheable, speculative write combination). The default is UC (uncacheable) Could this be the bad seed??
