Well, my UT comment atm is.... the friggen lighting!! I've read all the posts but no one seems to know how to correct this prob. I can't install the update till I get my CD back of a mate, so untill then, is there any way to fix it, or is update required?? pIII 450 128 MB ram tnt2 32mb ram Thanks

I have the same prob, but I'm using RC3. I downloaded the 1.08 update and installed that with no difference. Oh forgot to mention, when starting the game, it says missing glide2.dll or something like that, but isn't that a voodoo related driver? We're just gonna hve to wait for a 2000 patch man.

Fair Go Seldzar, you're the working man, I'm but the lowly IT student (when I need to be) Beer and buds are on me!
-
Well, I can tell you what I WON'T be doing. I won't be going to any meat market nightclubs watching all the queers and nutters dance around trying to F**K eachother, that's for sure. I think it might be a great night for a slab of beer and a BBQ with some loud metal tunes and some good "buds". Anyone is welcome to join in!!

Seaweed, go search seldzar or chameleons sites for the 3.6* drivers. Although if you cannot get into 2k at all this is no good. If you can boot with safe mode (press F8 to get the menu) you should be able then to install the drivers. Whatever you do, don't listen to DrSchmoe, the MS drivers are VERY basic and obviously do not work at all, so that don't solve your prob anyhows does it? Perhaps the newer ones are somewhat buggy (I don't have any probs) but they are better than nothing. You'd be crazy to use the MS drivers, not that you can!! Once installed, replace the 3.6* nvoglnt.dll (I think) with the 3.53 version, it's apparently less buggy *shrug* Good luck

Do you have a UDMA compat IDE HDD?? If so, turn UDMA mode on for that chain and see if that helps out
-
I'm unsure why, but I have the same problem. It only started after I installed half-life (with the update). The only way I found to fix it is to format and reinstall with ONLY quake. If you find a proper fix I'd LOVE to know.

Goto seldzar's site and get the new detonator drivers for the TNT2. Should fix it all up
-
Goto Seldzar's page and get the detonator 3.63 or whatever they are (been ofline a while can't remember) but use the ovglnt.dll (I think) from 3.53 Should be mucho better *Still kinda moving, will be in new house SOON!!

This may sound STOOPID, but try resetting the vid card back to it originals speeds. Everyone else that has this cards seems to have no probs. I have the DV770 tnt2 have no probs whatsoever. Sounds like you're pussing it too much for the ****ty generic drivers that are out right now.
-
Hmmm, doesn't that just sound sooo typical??? Such is life
-
well, at this stage, the only real way to uninstall properly, would be to format. IF you MUST have a dual boot system man, make another partition and have them seperate so you CAN format if needed without causing any probs to the other installed OS(s) BTW get your hands on a newer build man, RC3 if you can. This might solve your problem of needing windows 9x installed also

In the root of your C: drive, you'll have a file called Boot.ini Edit that and take out the extra lines.
-
I do it all the time, have no probs at all

OK guys, the old trick no longer applies to fix the rotating around the head problem (hit ~ type cg_draw3dicons = 0) To correct this now, open the q3config.cfg file in notepad and find where it says draw3dicons = 1. Simply change it to 0, save and re open quake. IF that line isn't there paste the following: seta cg_draw3dIcons "0" (ya gotta put one of those BOX characters right before the seta, I just couldn't paste one sorry) That's how I fixed it, it all works bweaudifully now Good luck

Everythign was running fine, then all of a sudden BOOM, quake will not load. The screen starts to load, first grey, then white and that's it. Was all working perfectly, then all of a sudden NOTHING. I didn't install anything that I don't normally use, no other games, nothing. When I do mange to kill the process, the screen goes incredibly bright! I'm using 3.56 drivers, have tried 3.53 and also tried the DX7 update with no success. Is it just me, or does 2k have a REAL problem with distinguishing what drivers should be loaded and what shouldn't?? BTW, I just formatted this SOB and reinstalled the lot, quake worked once then that's it!! STILL nothing I haven't already installed on previous working installations was installed
-
DARN POO S*^T CURSE CURSE CURSE ETC ETC the FRIGGEN thing has done it again. I installed half-life, updated it now quake don't work!!! same white screen lockup. I'm about to box this thing for a month, so as far as I'm concerned, it can stay there!!! GRRR hope when gold this is fixed!!!

Thanks man, a lil late, but no harm done. Well, jams, I'm kinda thinking about using 3.56 AGAIN, but a lil scared to be honest. I don't wanna be stuck in another format. I'm moving house in a few days, so you can Imagine I have a few more important things to do than reinstall windows (so the missus says anyhows ) AS far as AGP goes, in 3.53 it appears to be enabled, but I'm not 100% sure that it actaulyl is, some say it does some say otherwise. 3.56 doesn't show at all so I presume it's not working. Sorry i can't tell ya more.
-
Sure have, I might try what Jams suggests, IF I ever try 3.56 again!!. I formatted, installed 3.56, quake worked once. Formatted again installed 3.53 and all is good, not quite as smooth as what 3.56 was but at least it's stable now. Thanks guys

I know absolutely nuffin about em, but have you tried NT4 drivers, if any??
-
Go back through the forum and read the other posts. You queries have coem up PLENTY of times
-
Well, I've searched the forum right through and can't find it. I'd be interested to know how to do it. I have X-Setup, which is a registry tweaking program, it has the option to display/remove the build/version details, but it doesn't seem to work either.
-
Dude, go look at the site Yuppie pasted, all your RC3 requirements/queries will be resolved
-
OK, I was just playing around on nvidia FTP and found a windows 2000 folder for tnt drivers. In that I found 3.55 drivers. Any Ideas?? I'm using 3.53, everythign works. 3.56, AGP don't work, anyone know about 3.55??
