One perhaps silly question here, but have you upgraded your TNT drivers to 3.53?? you haven't mentioned this. I installed 3.53 and have no probs with anything
-
I'm using 3.53 again, but I did have probs the first time. I did a fresh install of 2k and the drivers and now all is good.

Yet to be posted to NTBeta, Microsoft is not expected to deem the new beta build of Windows 2000 Release Candidate 3 (RC3). Contrary to what was mentioned earlier by ********.Com, Microsoft has only decided to post another build for beta testing before RC3. Internally a few more builds have already been released, newer than 2176, and are still not RC3 caliber. We are sorry for any confusion caused by the posting from earlier today

Take a pill, chill out it has nothing to do with my question so bug off and go waste someone else time
-
Ok what drivers do you have exactly?? you should be using 3.53. The only thing I can say is some games work some don't it's just fact. Some ppl are more lucky than others As fir quake, press tilde (~) and type cg_draw3dicons = 0 taht will fix that hangs etc etc
-
WTF does that have to do with the statment?? I blanked it out, out of respect for the guys at beta news
-
Ok I've just tested these drivers, and I'd have to say that the 3.53 drivers work better. Under DXDiag I no longer have AGP support with 3.56. BUT they are a lot better than the MS drivers included. These driver were originally off the ASUS web site, however the INF and readme still say that they are made my nVidia and support all nVidia chipsets. Maybe someone else might have better luck

Is there anyway to get 2k to forcefully load a hardware profile without it detecting hardware each boot? EG my modem will not work unless it's turned on at bootup, same for my printer.

What is WORKING PROPERLY?? 1. Can you hear sound?? If yes, it works. Remember the all important 4 letter word?? B E T A - it ain't gonna be perfect but if you can hear sound it's working good enough till Creative get off their ass and make drivers. I have the same card and it works, (all beit it dies after a few hours and sound pops a bit) direct sound and all, but then again, I did read all the post about direcx and installed the updates, however judging by the rest of your posts, I think you have failed to do so! all your problems will be resolved soon enought. Untill then LIVE WITH IT! Just a word of advice, try selecting the search option and have a look for relevant topics before you post!

I have the Epson Sytlus 400. All works fine, use a proper graphic program for printing CD covers, like paint shop, or even better, Photoshop. I personally use Photoshop simply because I can and I have no problems

If there are two new builds out after 2128, why don't MS post updates on the windows update page?? I mean, wouldn't that make a hell of alot of sense??
-
Well, I can get it to dial and connect now NOW my prob is it connects at like 2.4k yes that's right 2.4k!! anyone?
-
I have just installed 2167 hoping that it would resolve my problems dialing into my ISP. NO SUCH LUCK!! For those who don't know this is the problem: My ISP has two lines, one I can dial into with no problems, but it's engaged 99% of the time. The secondary line which is always available will not accept my connection ONLY under 2000. NT4 and 98 work fine. The error I get is "Server failed to assign IP address" then it hangs up. IN 98 there is an option for WINS that lets you select DHCP, however I can't see that option under 2000, for WINS. I tried a patch because this is apparently a bug in 2000 (so my ISP says) but it's only works for eariler builds. I have Obtain Ip address from server checked (I presume this is it, however it don't work in this case!) I have disabled LCP extensions and I have turned off IP header compression, but no luck still PLEASE HELP!!
-
Well, for anyone else that has had this problem I have solved it..... Under the network tab for you connection, click settings for the type of dial-up server adn uncheck "Negotiate Multi-link for single link connections" /me chuckles, piece of piss really!!
-
I just have it set as an alternative number. I have tried it just with secondary number on it's own connection, but still won't work
-
what is wrong with the drivers that 2k installs when you first install 2000?? I haven't had any probs with my intellimouse! It's is PS/2 though, are we talking USB?
-
not 100% sure, but read the online docs on MS or even the help file in 2k, I'm sure I've seen this problem raised
-
In regards to your dual boot situation, MS recommends that you install 98 prior to 2000 on a primary partition (C:\) and 2000 on it's own partition. It has worked for me. You could try installing 98 now, to a seperate partition, however when you are done, you're going to need to repair the MBR (Master Boot Record) NT has this option if you go through setup again after installing 9x, it will ask you prior to installing. Perhaps using fdisk /mbr before repairing the MRB might help. I had to do this when using NT4/98 because the 98 boot loader always tried to take over. IF your hard drive is already formatted as a single partition, defrag it as best you can, maybe you might have to run defrag 2 or 3 times, then use FIPS to split your current partition. You should be able to find it around, I know RedHat has it on their FTP under Dos Utils (ftp.redhat.com). If no luck, lemme know and I'll get it to ya. Good Luck, hope it helps

I doubt the card is defective man, I presume it's just lack of driver support for the time being, we are all suffering from some sort of driver support or lack of, if you aren't, LUCKY BA*$D!! As I said, it's probably just some sort of anti piracy feature built into it, as you were pirating, this seems like the most probrbly cause. Did disconnecting it from yo VCR give any better results??

Can anyone get Quake 3 Test to work?? I downlaoded when win32 setup, when I try to play, the screen goes white and that's it, machines locked. I tried to use the GL install but you need 95/98 to use it. Any ideas?? I have a DV 770 TnT2 32 vid card with the 3.52(or whatever) drivers which work fine for Jedi Knight etc
-
OK need a straight answer. I've decided not to kill 2000 completely /me bows for the chears. I have come across a copy of 2151, is it going to be much better than 2128?? EG will my sound blaster pci64 finally work properly, will my ISP give me an IP address?? Any other info is appreciated Thanks peeps
-
Ok I know I have pasted a question about this already, but it's still no good. My SB PCI64 works fine and sounds great MOST of the time in 2128. Then after no specific time the sound totally dissapears. Winamp will not play, it just freezes, games will not play, they hang when trying to load sound. I have tried turning Hardware Acceleration all the way off and every setting inbetween, with no success. My question is, Is the SB PCI 64 support improved in any of the later builds. /me crosses his fingers PLEASE say yes

Sounds like a bit of a driver problem to me, however, do you have anything plugged into the line out on ya card?? DVD has copy protection, so that it detects any recording devices that maybe along the cables somewhere, then lowers the quality of the movie so it is a ****ty recording in an event to stop piracy. That by the sounds of it is what the card cannot detect, so to save itself, kinda, it's just saying NO period just incase you do have any recording devices on it. Dunno if this helps, but might give you something to think about. If I am wrong in regards to this, someone is welcome to correct me.
