Well, I've decided to give this heap of S&@T OS the flick, at least for the time being. One problem after another. First my tnt2 not working, fixed, then scsi card, had to buy a new one, fixed, sound dissapears, can't be fixed, sick to death of constant dumpings from ISP and B*$#%#!T error messages about failing to assign IP address also from ISP. Darn NT 4 was a pleasant experience in comparison. I can only hope that MS can finally get their F*%&$@G act into gear and create something not held together with hotfixes and patches. Back to dual boot 98/NT 4 dual boot for me DISSAPOINTED & FRUSTRATED

Zardos what error messages do you get from you ISP?? I get "Failed to assign IP address"
-
Tried changin the modem, doesn't work, life sucks when you use beta software
-
Thanks SHS I'll give that a try with my modem, but I don't think it's going to stop the IP assigning problem, but I WILL try.
-
Thanks Dolce, it would be nice if they moved their asses into gear, but isn't there legal restrictions on issuing 2000 drivers for an unreleased product?? I could be wrong, but that's what Diamond emailed me saying (mebe they just can't be bothered)

Don't happen to know if there is a list of updates adn new drivers do you??

Hiya guys, don't get me wrong, 2k is pretty darn good, and I haven't lost sight that it is still beta OS. HOWEVER, I've been running 2128 for about 3 weeks now and am just fed up with problems. I mean, most of them I have been able to resolve, eg drivers for TNT2, bought a new adaptec scsi card, got all my games to work pretty much flawlessly. The main jerk, is my connectiing to my ISP. Wen using 98 I have no problems dialing in or holding a connection for 24 hrs +, at current a few hours if I'm lucky. The main error I get is when calling my ISP's secondary line, it says "Failed to assign IP address". I've been told that this is a 2000 bug and there is patch. However, the patch that I received was for a previous build, not 2128, and I cannot find anything in regards to it on MS webpage. Sb PCI64 sound card. Pretty standard stuff, however, after a little while the sound totally dissapears and the machine has to be rebooted. *shrug* This is my system PIII 450 128Mb PC-100 ram ASUS P2B-F MoBoard Diamond Viper 770 32 Daewoo 710B 17" Monitor Quantum Fireball CR 8.4Gb Adaptec AVA 2902 SCSI card (Had a Tekram DC-310, was replaced because it would not allow ASPI to function when burning CD's) Panasonic(Matsu****a) 8x4x CD-R Diamond Data 32x IDE CD-Rom Surecom EP-325 PCI Ethernet adapter (Detects as Realtek RTL8029(AS) works bweaudifuly) Dynalink 1456VQE-R External Modem There has to be a way around thess problems. It's a shame to have to kill it all because of a few small but signifcant bugs. Any help would be greatly appreciated and prevent another MS assisted suicide BTW do any of you guys hang out on IRC?? I'm always on Undernet nick Ekstreme

Have you tried QTracker?? http://qtracker.stomped.com/

Forgot to mention, if it seems a bit jerky, or lagged, pull down the console (~ tilde key) and type the following: Cg_draw3dIcons = 0 That should fix it.

Here's the URL, hope it helps http://seldzar.dhs.org/ under the files section. Althought these say they work under DXDiag, I had to reinstall/install them to make them work properly. Good luck

Well, I have a diamond Viper 770 and it works fine under 2000 now. I did a clean install and then installed 3.53 drivers. Didn't even touch direct X and all is good. Rogue spear needs the registry entry from 9x cause it seems to have troubles writing it's own. If you don't have it email me and I'll send it. I'm a little scared to install the DX7 update, as I finally got everythign working, I don't wanna stuff it up!

No one seems to be able to give me a straight answer on this, DO NT4 drivers work on 2000???
-
I have a SB PCI 64 (ES1370 chipset), which works fine, MOST of the time. The prob is, that after no specific time frame, the sound dissapears. Winamp will not play, can't watch VCD's nothing. Anyone got a similar prob, tips to fix perhaps??
-
Thanks for the tip man, but it only seems to delay the problem a little bit longer. Just have to live wiht it I guess

I have a Tekram DC-310 SCSI adapter, which runs my Panasonic 7502 CD-R When I try to burn a CD using 2128, I get: ASPI failure FLUSH Failure ASPI Failure then it says my SCSI card is not ASPI compatiable. Adaptec says that Easy CD creator 4 works fine on 2k. Tekram say that my card works fine on 2k, what's going wrong?? Please help, I can make a mobile with all the coasters I now have!!
-
Thanks to everyone who tried to help. I reinstalled 2k and all is good now wiht my new Adaptec card THANKS
-
If you could find that patch for me I'd be forever greatful, I can't find it anywhere Thanks
-
Hmm was kinda thinking of that, might be a good idea thanks. 2000 Doesn't seem to like reinstalling old driver or anything like that. Had the same prob wiht my soudn card. Oh well, thanks

Can someone PLEASE clear up all this ASPI confusion. I CANNOT burn anything using 2128. I have 2 totally different scsi cards One a tekram DC 310 and the other an Adaptec AVA 2902 and they perform with no difference!! I get ASPI errors everytime I try to burn a CD. The tell me that my scsi card is not aspi compat or I need to reinstall easy cd/aspi, which I have done ENDLESS times. I have downloaded the supposed 2000 aspi driver, which has one lone file, WNASPI32.DLL. NO DIFF. So now when I run aspi check it says that there are error, cause the files are not all the same version. I there a full ASPI update for 2000?? PLEASE HELP!!!!!
-
Can anyone please tell me what the latest ASPI version is?? I have 4.6 and wnaspi32.dll 1.03 which I got of some 2000 site. the prob is that none of these seem to work. I've bought a new adaptec scsi card today and it still doesn't work! DESPERATE

I've tried every aspi driver I can get my hands one, all with the same error message! I had heaps of probs with this SCSI card under NT 4 too, if I didn't physically remove it, install everything first, then install it, I would get blue screen of death. Time for a new card me thinks.
