Thanks mr_yellow. I was under the impression that you needed iomegaware installed to use the drive. I guess this is nonsense, so I have removed it and everythign seems to be running fine. Thanks again for ya help.

Easy fix. Edit your shortcuts to point to JK.exe NOT jedi.exe
-
Mine work fine, I just use media player to run them
-
Hmm now that you mention it, I have notice a bit of extra paging. it's really tweaking me off now!!

Use the actual EXE file to load up, not the LucasArts start program. Although, you still won't be able to play the game under 2k.

Heya, a few things you can get them to try... Firstly, make sure they have the latest drivers from http://www.motorola.com/networking/products/sm56_pci_software_modem/drivers.html Secondly, under Network settings for the Dialup connection properties, click the settings button and make sure Enable LCP extensions & negotiate mutil-link for single link connections is OFF. Had a buddy with the same prob a few months back, and that's what we did to fix his. I have Ground Control installed and running fine (I'll get back to this in a min) but I have DX 8 installed. This could be why it's working. Like neurobash, I also have sound problems, but not just the stuttering at the pre-mission breifing. After about 4-5 min into the game, all I get is this really loud annoying buzzing noise. It's enough to drive you NUTS! 1008 patch didn't resolve this issue in any way at all. Gawd damn Creative!! Pitty really, GC is a kick ass game. ------------------ **************************************** Intel PIII 450 ASUS P2B-F (BIOS 1012) 128 MB PC 100 SDRam Diamond Viper 770 32Mb TNT2 (Det. 5.17) Quantum Fireball CR 8.4Gb IDE HDD Quantum Capella 2.2Gb SCSI HDD Tekram DC-310 SCSI Adapter Panasonic CW-7502 8x4 SCSI CD-R Mitsubishi Diamond Data 32x IDE CD Rom Creative Sound Blaster PCI 64 (ES 1370) Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D USB Joystick Epson Stylus Color 400 Printer Dynalink V1456VQE-R External 56k V.90 Modem Daewoo 710b 17" Monitor Windows 2000 2195.1 **************************************** #NTCompatible on UNDERNET!!!

Ekstreme replied to rlculver's topic in Software
Make sure under Display properties/Plus! you have 'show icons using all possible colors' checked. Then reboot -
You know the old saying... You get what you pay for! It certainly holds tru for ****ty WinModems. If your modem is brand new, take it back and get a decent modem. Software modems are crap crap crap crap crap. Anyhows, here's ya drivers http://www.motorola.com/networking/products/sm56_pci_software_modem/drivers.html ------------------ **************************************** Intel PIII 450 ASUS P2B-F (BIOS 1012) 128 MB PC 100 SDRam Diamond Viper 770 32Mb TNT2 (Det. 5.17) Quantum Fireball CR 8.4Gb IDE HDD Quantum Capella 2.2Gb SCSI HDD Tekram DC-310 SCSI Adapter Panasonic CW-7502 8x4 SCSI CD-R Mitsubishi Diamond Data 32x IDE CD Rom Creative Sound Blaster PCI 64 (ES 1370) Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D USB Joystick Epson Stylus Color 400 Printer Dynalink V1456VQE-R External 56k V.90 Modem Daewoo 710b 17" Monitor Windows 2000 2195.1 **************************************** #NTCompatible on UNDERNET!!!

I don't ahve 2k infront of me atm, but under networking options for your DUN connection, make sure you have the top and bottom options unchecked. See if that helps
-
Just enable your guest account for the Lan party, should fix everything
-
Under your Net Connection Sharing tabe, turn off dial when needed. That should fix your problem

Anyone know of a working fix to play this game?? I tried the proposed fix on the front page, but it just hung my system. sfc /scannow from commdand prompt should replace DX8 with the older version 7 files, hopefully. BUT it will also replace any other updated files!!
-
AREGH!H!! didn't matter what I did, couldn't get it working again without a format!!!

I've had the same prob wiht SOF, and I must say, I'm pretty pi*sed. Anyway, the only fix I've found is to not install 5.22 AT ALL. Here's instructions on how to get rid of them if you already have (thanks to 3dtweak) "Right clicking on My Computer, Properties, Hardware, Device Manager, Display Adapters > then remove the driver. Then go into your Windows2000 folder, Inf folder, and remove all files with "nv" at the beginning. Then go to the System32 folder and do the same. Once that's done, press Start, Run, type regedit, press Enter. Then go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, SOFTWARE, and delete the folder called NVIDIA Corporation. Then go to HKEY_CURRENT USER, SOFTWARE, and do the same thing. Close Registry Editor and reboot." I don't think it's going to be too long before we see another nVidia update.

Hit the Shift key repeatedly till the sticky keys config pops up. Click each settings button and uncheck use shortcuts for each individual item. That should at least stop you getting stupid warning messages during games and what not
-
Is there any way to turn off this bogus file protection at all?? I've lived this long without MS telling me what files I do and don't need, I sure as hell don't need it now.
-
DX8 worked fine for men, AFTER I did the sticky keys trick and installed all the files manually. only prob now is, that 5 days after I did this, windows goes and restores all the original files. Now all my sticky keys are back and I'm darn well pi**ed!! I can't believe it took 5 days for the file protection to kick in!! ------------------ **************************************** Intel PIII 450 ASUS P2B-F (BIOS 1012) 128 MB PC 100 SDRam Diamond Viper 770 32Mb TNT2 (Det. 5.17) Quantum Fireball CR 8.4Gb IDE HDD Quantum Capella 2.2Gb SCSI HDD Tekram DC-310 SCSI Adapter Panasonic CW-7502 8x4 SCSI CD-R Mitsubishi Diamond Data 32x IDE CD Rom Creative Sound Blaster PCI 64 (ES 1370) Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D USB Joystick Epson Stylus Color 400 Printer Dynalink V1456VQE-R External 56k V.90 Modem Daewoo 710b 17" Monitor Windows 2000 2195.1 **************************************** #NTCompatible on UNDERNET!!!

Get tweakUI and turn of most of the lil visual enhancements. These things become very taxing on system resources.
-
Just run live update BEFORE you reboot, as soon as the install is complete and you'll be fine
