I had the same problem (didn't know about the simple fix though ) The easiest way I foudnd to fix this, AND be compatible with all my mates who were playing, was to create an account on mplayer and let it update RS itself. BUT, install the 2.05 patch first, as it slashes the update time dramaticaly. ------------------ **************************************** Intel PIII 450 ASUS P2B-F (BIOS 1012) 128 MB PC 100 SDRam Diamond Viper 770 32Mb TNT2 (Det. 5.13) Quantum Fireball 8.4Gb HDD Tekram DC-310 SCSI Adapter Panasonic CW-7502 SCSI CD-R Mitsubishi Diamond Data 32x IDE CD Rom Creative Sound Blaster PCI 64 (ES 1370) Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D USB Epson Stylus Color 400 Dynalink V1456VQE External 56k V.90 Daewoo 710b 17" Windows 2000 2195.1 **************************************** #NTCompatible on UNDERNET!!!

First of all, how 'networked' are your machines right now?? IP addresses within the same range? Subnet mask the same? what protocol is installed? If you have it running already, it's as simple as clicking the sharing tab on your internet connection (the host machine of course) and enabling Net Sharing. Then set the gateway on the client machine, to the IP adress of the host machine. Give the client a lil reboot and bob's your uncle. Oh yeah! don't forget to create a user on the 2k machine, or you won't get scraps! This is fairly well explained in the windows help file. So read it if you have any probs.

I'm in the same boat as grimm. Multimedia student, forking out $15,000 (ozzie bucks mind you) for a course who's software requirement is through the roof! Companies, like MS and Kinetix, for example, turn a blind eye to some forms of student piracy, as in the long term, those students turn into business customers. The only way that these students are going to get good enough to turn into potential long-term customers, is if they get their education. And THAT is where the bucks are. When I'm done shelling out my $15,000 and have a fulltime job earning me the bottom-of-the-barrel $80 an hour, I sure as sh*t will be buying every darn piece of software I need. Providing the price is right Just my piece. BTW, anyone wanna throw a copy of maya 2.5 unlimited my way ------------------ **************************************** Intel PIII 450 ASUS P2B-F (BIOS 1012) 128 MB PC 100 SDRam Diamond Viper 770 32Mb TNT2 (Det. 5.13) Quantum Fireball 8.4Gb HDD Tekram DC-310 SCSI Adapter Panasonic CW-7502 SCSI CD-R Mitsubishi Diamond Data 32x IDE CD Rom Creative Sound Blaster PCI 64 (ES 1370) Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D USB Epson Stylus Color 400 Dynalink V1456VQE External 56k V.90 Daewoo 710b 17" Windows 2000 2195.1 **************************************** #NTCompatible on UNDERNET!!!

I've had sooo many probs wiht EZ CD (although I haven't tried the latest patches) that I've given up and gone to Nero. Just as easy to use, and is fully 2000 compatible ------------------ **************************************** Intel PIII 450 ASUS P2B-F (BIOS 1012) 128 MB PC 100 SDRam Diamond Viper 770 32Mb TNT2 (Det. 5.13) Quantum Fireball 8.4Gb HDD Tekram DC-310 SCSI Adapter Panasonic CW-7502 SCSI CD-R Mitsubishi Diamond Data 32x IDE CD Rom Creative Sound Blaster PCI 64 (ES 1370) Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D USB Epson Stylus Color 400 Dynalink V1456VQE External 56k V.90 Daewoo 710b 17" Windows 2000 2195.1 **************************************** #NTCompatible on UNDERNET!!!

Not that I know of, BUT the original mplayer2.exe (or similar) is still around and working. I'd just remove the links and such for now, untill a reliable version comes along.

I've never been able to use EZ CD 4 deluxe under 2k for some reason. I can burn one CD sucessfuly, then that's it, ASPI error and coasters galore!! Tried 2 totally diff scsi cards, with no sucess. Turns out if I use Nero, or CDRWin I have no probs at all. Anyway.... I installed ezcd and the 4.02 patch hoping it would fix my probs, turns out I can't even open EZCD now without Dr Watson deciding he wants to play too!! ------------------ **************************************** Intel PIII 450 ASUS P2B-F (BIOS 1012.003 beta) 128 MB PC 100 SDRam Diamond Viper 770 32Mb TNT2 (Det. 3.81) Quantum Fireball 8.4Gb HDD Tekram DC-310 SCSI Adapter Panasonic CW-7502 SCSI CD-R Mitsubishi Diamond Data 32x IDE CD Rom Creative Sound Blaster PCI 64 (ES 1370) Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D USB Epson Stylus Color 400 Dynalink V1456VQE External 56k V.90 Daewoo 710b 17" Windows 2000 2195.1 **************************************** #NTCompatible on UNDERNET!!!

Well, I've found all the drivers that My CD-R is using, but I just can't find the INF file, I'll keep searching

Hmm sounds weird, I have the same burner, it shows as MATSUSH*TA CD-R CW-7502 SCSI CdRom Device. I have firmware 4.17, mebe you need an update there?? http://www.cdr-info.com/firmware/index.html Only prob I have, is that EZ CD Creator will not work, I have to use Nero. Good luck ------------------ **************************************** Intel PIII 450 ASUS P2B-F (BIOS 1012.003 beta) 128 MB PC 100 SDRam Diamond Viper 770 32Mb TNT2 (Det. 3.81) Quantum Fireball 8.4Gb HDD Tekram DC-310 SCSI Adapter Panasonic CW-7502 SCSI CD-R Mitsubishi Diamond Data 32x IDE CD Rom Creative Sound Blaster PCI 64 (ES 1370) Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D USB Epson Stylus Color 400 Dynalink V1456VQE External 56k V.90 Daewoo 710b 17" Windows 2000 2195.1 **************************************** #NTCompatible on UNDERNET!!!

Turn off TCP/IP Netbios helper under services. I had the same prob (NT4 and 2000), although it's still not quite as fast as 98 browsing the network, it's definately tollerable.

No idea, but the date in the readme is Dec 99!!

Have you tried reading the windows help files?? Often a great place to start! First of all, you have to get your head around user permissions. Right click my computer and select manage. then click local users and groups/users. You can either add the win98 users login and pass in here, or you can simple enable the guest account. Once you've saved that, go to the folder/drive whatever and select properties. There is a sharing tab there, you can't miss it! ------------------ **************************************** Intel PIII 450 ASUS P2B-F (BIOS 1012.003 beta) 128 MB PC 100 SDRam Diamond Viper 770 32Mb TNT2 (Det. 3.81) Quantum Fireball 8.4Gb HDD Tekram DC-310 SCSI Adapter Panasonic CW-7502 SCSI CD-R Mitsubishi Diamond Data 32x IDE CD Rom Creative Sound Blaster PCI 64 (ES 1370) Logitech Wingman Extreme Digital 3D USB Epson Stylus Color 400 Dynalink V1456VQE External 56k V.90 Daewoo 710b 17" Windows 2000 2195.1 **************************************** #NTCompatible on UNDERNET!!!

Fisrt of all, get rid of Sygate, you obviously have not done your reading. ICS is built into pro also. Second of all, go and read the Win2k help file and search for ICS. ICS is SOOOO easy in 2k it's not funny. Make sure you have static internal IP's for both computers and install a gateway on the client to your server. That's all there is to it!

I can't use EZ CD Creator at all! If I do, I get ASPI errors along with many many coasters. I thought the 4.02 patch might fix some 2k issues, but now, the program won't even start. Good old Dr watson decides he wants to play too! My sollution was to use Nero. I't as easy to use, and it works!! [This message has been edited by Ekstreme (edited 22 March 2000).]

I had heaps of probs with UT slowing down etc etc, but I found some tweaks to fix most of these probs. The biggest tweaks was to turn off the precaching before each level loads. I've mad some note, which you can get @ http://members.dingoblue.net.au/~ekstreme/UTTweaks.txt
