Well, I don't know what you mean by repartitioning a win2k partition from the win2k partition. If you own partition magic you can do about anything you want to your drive from win98 or the program's boot disks, as it will not run on win2k. If you just want to convert your drive to ntfs, you can type the (I saw it a few days ago on this board, search) command at the command prompt.

You should'nt be playing on the net, nets are for catching drunken bears and other animals, now what would these people do if you were playing on their net???
-
Yes I do have that problem. Mr diddly summed it up pretty well.
-
I have that problem too! it also happens to occur after standby, and it puts the last few icons in the taskbar, first.

Hi, Yeah i have seemed to fix it, but I had to settle using the 3 axis 2 button joystick driver and all seams well. But I had to fiddle with the IRQ settings in the bios to get it to work, for some reason DM says my video, usb, sound and network cards are all on the same IRQ, hmmm//

Do the 3d apps work above or below 1024x768? And before that, have you tried checking the Application compatibility list at this site??

Good find is right! Q3 is running noticably faster on my tnt. Who needs numbers? The SOF demo still won't work, at startup the system just hangs with an hourglass with 3.75 and blue screens with 3.69. I'm using .75 right now and the soldiers are'nt getting any fortune. Or will they?
-
Could'nt tell you why, just that I hav'nt seen it since the 3.55 drivers.

I must say he's passionate about his sound card, maybe to a pathological extreme, nah.

If by the red folders you mean the little light bulbs on the left, their still there, just a little fuzzy. I agree the buttons are a little hard to see at first, but I feel them to be superior. I second the like for this one.

I've been having a little big problem with the arrow keys sticking on build 2195 while playing zdoom 1.22a (Yes I still play doom) I'm not sure if this is to the topic but the keys are sticking and it's not nice. [This message has been edited by Jerry - (edited 13 January 2000).]

Defaulting to Win2k after hibernation is the way it's supposed to work.

I've been using Ntfs98 avaliable at systeminternals.com to hack away at Windows 2000 from 98 when it is nessecary. Only problem is it can't write to ntfs volumes. [This message has been edited by Jerry - (edited 12 January 2000).]

RC's = Release Candidates... In the command prompt, type winver. If there is no expiration date listed you have the final release code.
-
Did you have Acpi enabled in the bios when you installed? In the device mgr, under Computer, is the driver listed as (ACPI)PC? Remember, every driver installed on your computer needs to support standby/ hibernatior for them to work, things to think about.

Can anyone comment on the speed of your games under Win2k
Jerry - replied to Neville's topic in Games
3.55 drivers / TntI /PII500 & 2195, Framerates are good enough for me at least. It's my zombie like reflexes that make me suck at Q3 not my frame rate. And I'm stickin to that! -
Morto, Have you by any chance been sitting too close to the monitor?

Win2k irk that is. Things that have always annoyed me. Like in explorer it will list some files and directories in all caps, is there anyway to get rid of this?? And the System Windows not opening in the same place and/or size half the time? Anal retentive and proud! Any one else have any win2k irks and /or sollutions? Don't pretend you don't!

Okie Dokie. Have you tried going the manual settings route yet?? Here we go. . On the server pc Try: I/p : 192.168.0.1 Subnet 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.0.1 DNS: Put in your the Primary/secondary #'s your isp assigned to you (Important!) All this is configurable in the TCP/IP properties. Also disable any Wins and LMHOSTS lookup. And do the DNS thing! When I entered 192.168.0.1 for dns on this computer (Win2k btw) I got no Transfer but could ping. On the clients: I/P: beggining in order from 192.168.0.2 Subnet: 255.255.255.0 Gateway: 192.168.0.1 DNS: Same settings as server If this does'nt fix it try pinging some DNS names and your DNS server from each client. Right now I'm pretty sure the DNS is the problem, and if you don't know the server address you can ignore this [This message has been edited by Jerry - (edited 09 January 2000).]

I just checked the win2k printer drivers and found NEC superscript 860, that should work.
-
Have you tried the setting the 3dicons to "0" in the config like yuppiescum sugested?
-
Hunt around for it, not only is it more fun to, but it is'nt too hard to find.
-
Mouseware won't work, don't hose your system trying to make it work. Allrighty now that that's out of the way, try the native win2k "Logitech PS/2 port" driver, aside from scrolling being iffy it works fine for me.

Strange. I would'nt try loading the win2000 reg over windoze98. what you could try is copying the user.dat file
