Hum guyz, I think that Sebu an glenfre are true. It's the same to me : so far no one explain what's the prob with my video card. It's an ASUSv3800 (TNT2). Everybody is speaking about TNT2 but noone never mention v3800 so all the explaination aren't for me. Can some one EXACTLY tell me what I have to do on the EXACT following system : Asusv3800 (not a tnt2 generic card : MY card) Win2k 2195.3 (not a generic version : MY version) unbrained user (not a generic user : ME) Hey newbies : try to interpolate answers, then test the solution, if it still does not work, read further, and the finally, ask the board. btw, where can i find Win2k final release ??? I've got a IIYAMA VisionMaster Pro 510 It's a 22" display and one of the best I've ever worked on. The only "trouble" is that only the G400's RamDAC is fast enough (360MHz) to take advantage of the full power of this display. With a TNT2 non-ultra, I display 1600x1200 at 98 Hz on a REAL flat display and the screen can go faster. I spend hours on my screen and my body gets tired before my eyes. And this marvelous screen is at only 1000 $ in France !!!!!!!!!!! Awx -
thk U for Ur answer but : • Is there any support for TV-Out in Windows2000 ? • Is there some kind of Windwos200 generic driver for TV-Out ? • Does anyone have support TV-Out under Windows2000 ? • Will there be any TV Out drivers anytime soon ? • Is there anyway to get TV-Out with waiting 10yrs for the drivers ? Awx PS : btw, it's funny, U had post 260 posts before both the 2 posts ..

Ok guyz, I've got right now an ASUS V3800 TNT2 (non ultra) and I find it a little slow under Win2k (frame rate under UT lower than under Win98). I wanna buy a G400Max or a GeForceDDR (or TNT2Ultra). I know (cos I own one) that NVidia drivers aren't so great right now. Is it the same with G400 or are G400 drivers nearly "final" ??? Awx PS : missa french, missa speak bad english PPS : I'm currently under 3.66 and 2195 iso

The trouble comes from your ASPI drivers. The one from Win2k R crap. Go and get the lastest one on www.adaptec.com (the one I'm using is 4.60 and works perfectly). Awx

Core released a version of Win2k, 2 days ago (12/15/99). This release was called "Win2k FINAL FULL RETAIL". The .nfo said : Û² Just for the guys who care - didn't mention it in server version: ²Û Û² All builds u got till now include a Time-bomb - your win2000 will ²Û Û² expire in 120/444 days - the 2195 build you saw yesterday in a ²Û Û² lot of warez channels will expire coz it's an evalutation copy! ²Û Û² This one is full retail & Upgrade. ²Û So is this true and are other version time bombed ? When I was under Win98, I was using shared folder. Those folder were on Unix computer and shared with SMB. Win98 is crypting pwd so I had to add a DWORD in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\VNETSUP named EnablePlainTextPassword with 1 as data to uncrypt them before sending them. BUT in Win2k HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\VNETSUP doesn't exist anymore and I still can't connect. Have anyone a solution ?

As Cham said, Ive got a 2195.1 version (as Seldzar said to chechk (dosnet.inf)) and I've never seen any splash screen warning me of this so called "time bomb". Can we check or crack the time bomb just by changing the date or is Win2k more clever ????? Awx PS : me french, me speak bad english [This message has been edited by Awaxx (edited 19 December 1999).]

Anyway, your scanner is a 300 dpi optic scanner, with 600 dpi hardware interpolation. So why do you want to scan up to 9600 dpi ? Just do as much as the scanner can physically do : higher is the same with some blur. Scan at 400 dpi, open the pic with Photoshop or other image editing software, and then upscale your pic. It's a fake 9600 dpi so why should HP work to make a fake thing avaible cos Win2k users should be professionnal and professionnal work with optical resolution an not interpolated resolution. So your scanner still works at 100% under Win2k. Awx PS : me french, me speak bad english

So my version is supposed to be 2195.3 but where can I check it (in MyComputer->Properties : 5.00.2195) ? Awx - forever ????

Just for fun, I've installed 3.65 drivers : worked perfectly under 2183 and 2195 (2195 TNT drivers do not work). So I keep the 3.65 one. Drivers worked with Q3A and UT in full screen and windowed mode. Awax PS : clean install of rc2 upgraded to rc2 then to rc3 2183 then finaly to 2195 PPS : drivers updated to 3.65 before upgrading to 2195, but after upgrading, games didn't work, so upgraded drivers directly from display proprerties and it was perfect.

I currently have an "old" PII400->448 running on ASUS P2B with 256 RAM. Does multiprocessing work and does it worth the cost of a new mainboard and a second PII400 or 2 brand new PIII or Athlon ? I need power cos I'm working on 13000x8000 pix images with Photoshop, and waiting 20 minutes for a gaussian blur is too much. Awx (maybe buying a 10k HD or a RAID should be the solution, but I already have 44 Go in 5 HD, no more room in my tower (a big one) and it's nearly the same price)

Thk U everybody for Ur answers. I finally made up my mind : I'll save money. First because I don't have anymore right now (just bought IIYAMA Vision Master Pro 510 22 inch screen, hummmmmmm). Later, I'll buy 32 SGI i540 quad-PIII-700 Xeon to put them in a HUGE cluster under Win2k Adv Server. So finally, I'll have the power I need (?). But, what about buying a Cray ? If you don't wanna have trouble while experiencing new OS, have more than one HD or partiton (I have 5 HD). If at any time U have a trouble, U can boot on a another one. Nero 4.0.5.0, 4.0.5.6, 4.0.7.0 worked fine on RC2 and RC3 (after a few troubles U can know about in previous thread : "Nero and f*****g ASPI drivers" in hardware forum). Awx - JBOD (just a bunch of disk)

OK, let's put every together : * limitation are mainly from my CPU and my memory : boosting both will increase my speed, like a PIII 500, and 128 Mo or even 256 Mo more. * multiproc mainboard aren't really good actualy or too expensive, must wait for i840 so old mainboard will go cheaper * solution from big constructors (Intergraph or SGI) are better (cos build for) but much more expensive * I shouldn't buy an AMD cos of emulated FPU * if I have more RAM, my system won't have to swap to disk and a 10k disk won't be useful (anyway, a HD will never be as fast as RAM). * I must be carefull when mixing Ultra and non Ultra SCSI devices or have a special card (like the one I actually own : Tekram DC390U2W) but I wanna know, does multiproccessing REALLY increase performance or buying a PIII-600 and/or more RAM will be better than a dual PII 400. Thk U for all Ur answers.

R U crazy guy ? I said I'm just a student not a professional user. So putting 4000 $ in single box with no screen is too much U know (I think I've already put 5000 $ in mine but have a 22" screen, 5 SCSI HD, a scanner and a big drawing tablet). I know that a SGI solution would be cleaner than mine but, buying components and building my solution is MUCH cheaper.

Nero is said to be working on Win2k but I've already crashed 5 CD and wondering about the word "working". I launch Nero, manage to create a new CD and then start burning it. After 4 or 5 %, Nero crashes and is killed. In the compatibility list, it is said that I should use Adpatec 4.6 drivers, but there's only 4.57 on www.adaptec.com . I've tried APSIchk from adaptec who is supposed to check my ASPI version, and it says my ASPI isn't proprely installed but I've tried installing 4.57 and after rebboting, nothing has changed : same probs and same versions. I'm using ASPI drivers found on Chameleon's win2k page ( win2kbox.8m.com ). My config is : PII 400->448 Mhz 256 Mo RAM RC2 build 2128 scsi CD burner * Teac c-r56s scsi controler * Tekram DC390U2W scsi drives * Quantum ATLAS III LVD 18.2 Go * IBM DCHS04U 4.5 Go * IBM DCHS09F 9.1 Go * Quantum VIKING II 4.5 Go Thk U for Ur help

What the f**k with ASPI drivers ?? I'm using drivers found in chameleon's win2k page ( win2kbox.8m.com ) but I still have probs : Nero crashes at every CD burning (5 CDs trashed). I went to Adaptec to find 4.6 drivers (as said in compatibility list) but only 4.57 is available. Where can I find 4.6 or is there an other solution ? My config is : PII 400->448 Mhz 256 Mo RAM RC2 build 2128 scsi CD burner * Teac c-r56s scsi controler * Tekram DC390U2W scsi drives * Quantum ATLAS III LVD 18.2 Go * IBM DCHS04U 4.5 Go * IBM DCHS09F 9.1 Go * Quantum VIKING II 4.5 Go Thk U for Ur help
