  1. I've been a loyal "reader" of NTCompatible.com since it's true NT days - back when we were really trying to get games to run under NT 4.0 workstation or NT 4.0 server. I usually check NTCompatible.com every weekday just to see what reviews might be new on the internet or for other hardware news. That said - my visits to NTCompatible.com are going to stop. Why? These #$%@#$%#@W Pop Up Ads that somebody at NTCompatible.com has fallen in love with - just in the past month it seems. I don't mind *rewarding* a web site that I visit almost religiously with a clicked link every once in a while (as I have done for NTCompatible.com in the past), but when someone decides that I HAVE to go to some advertising site, I will and am stopping my patronage to that site. You can go ahead and delete this user account for I will not visit NTCompatible.com or use it again.

Well. That's one way to kill this thread... Start discussing stuff like Linux v. Win2k. I liked this thread more when it just had inane comments....

Hey! jd! You got your senior member status back... (and all those posts!) Not that you were crying over it - and not that it means anything... Later!

What?!?!? No replies/posts in almost a full day. We're slowing down here! BTW, did anyone check out that site I mentioned for some funnies? ( http://www.cardhouse.com/drcliff/garage/tech/techsupport.htm ) Later!

concerning the www.cusl2.com and answering there... been there, done that (answering more than asking...), got tired of the SAME #@$^%@#%^ questions. I do love this cusl2 though. [edit] Ahem, for some comic relief, just visit this site: http://www.cardhouse.com/drcliff/garage/tech/techsupport.htm Later! [This message has been edited by ByronT (edited 28 October 2000).]

Of course, with the jumping in the posts, I can see why you got a little confused. You've only got two of the six PCI slots filled?!?!? You must have changed the beast since I last saw that long custom sig... I've got four used - ATI AIW 128, 3Com NIC, MX300, and Adaptec SCSI...

Shoot, if ya got banned for that, then there's a bunch more out there that should be banned tooo! [edit] "posting of things that I shouldn't have posted".... If that was why, then INFERNO should have been dumped around his 50th post, I mean all he posts are STOOOOPID questions about his CUSL2 beast, and questions about how to build a computer.... [and to INFERNO ] Welcome back, JD... Later. [This message has been edited by ByronT (edited 27 October 2000).]

Oh well, I was looking at ordering ten or so of them. (The distributor has 176 in stock!) BTW, your on-board ATA100 might max at 39MHz, but I had a Promise Ultra100 running on a bus speed of 41.5MHz - without any hd problems.... How many pages is this post up to? [edited] Did you see my post about the PCI extender card that will turn your PCI slots sideways? I've got the information on the cards somewhere around here (I'm in the process of building two rackmount servers with RedHat and the CUSL2.) Later! Intel ? or AMD

Isn't if funny how anyone who goes flame crazy and then is called *on the carpet* per se, they then recant and pronounce that it was all done for fun, and in sarcasm, and "I didn't mean it", and I did it "to liven up things a little." Well, here's what I think: Write what you think, when you think it, and if caught in a lie, or untenable position, or as a flamer, suck it up and admit what you've done, THEN SHUT THE CRAP UP. (I would have said something else, but I did not *think* it was appropriate.) ------------------ J. Byron Todd Computer Consultant byron@toddcomp.com Todd Computer Solutions

HEY INFERNO, you've got that ThermalTake Golden Orb right? Well, ThermalTake um, er, Microsofted (Microsofted = to steal an idea without it being called "theft", like algoring = to tell a lie without it being called a "lie" )the design from HP (what Agilent used to be...) And from all accounts, the Arcticooler is a better cooling HSF than the Golden Orb. (By a few degrees in all the reviews I've seen.) Have you checked out that site yet?
  12. ByronT

I don't mean to piss everyone off..........

INFERNO, a couple of companies build a PCI-extender type card that turns two PCI slots sideways (in a L shape.) AFAIK, they were made to allow generic motherboards to be used in 2U rackmount cases. Maybe you could find one of those instead. [And HEY, I've added three posts to this superly long post already!] DOH! I can't count... make that four! [This message has been edited by ByronT (edited 27 October 2000).]

I don't mean to piss everyone off..........

Oooooh, I just found out that you have to "burn-in" the ArctiCooler HSF - or it won't cool properly. The way that Agilent describes it being done is by putting a pencil in the fan area, booting the computer into the BIOS and then waiting until the CPU temp reaches approx 65 degrees C, and then removing the pencil... Cooooool.

Did jdul really go? Dang, and after I found this... INFERNO, I went to that site [VirtualHideout...] and it gave me some ideas about doing some case mods. My programmer and I are working on the ideas and will be setting up a website to handle sales. And as an additional note, I have finally been able to track down [from a distributor] the Agilent Arctic Cooler HSF (that the ThermalTake Golden Orb is based on). Check it out at http://www.arcticooler.com. Anyone who might be interested in one of these? [edit] Had to fix the URL link... [This message has been edited by ByronT (edited 27 October 2000).]

Amazing. I didn't even know that this thread was alive! So this is where INFERNO has gone since he stopped bugging us with his CUSL2 and case questions! Just another post to another useless thread! ------------------ J. Byron Todd Computer Consultant byron@toddcomp.com Todd Computer Solutions
