ive noticed a weird "coincidence" with my dialup connection and windows 2000 that seems to happen after a couple days uptime. right now im at about 3 1/2 days, and my connection's IDENT no longer wants to work (like when connecting to irc, it never even shows getting or sending an ident reply). this happened the last time i rebooted after about 5 days. as soon as i rebooted ident worked perfectly fine again. also my connection just seems to get crappier overall the longer my computer is up without a reboot. is this a modem issue or a win2k thing or what? I'm using the right oem drivers for my USR model 0727 pci modem, but i dont know what else i could do .. suggestions?

yeah, had that for quite awhile. still, everything ive tried with eax = crappy sounding.

after several attempts at playing halflife with EAX on, ive given up. the volume of sounds is extremely quiet compared to regular wave sounds with eax on, and the reverb is horrible. sounds like im playing in a giant tile covered bathroom! a3d didnt appear to work at all either.. the only other game i have with eax is Serious Sam, and upon trying it i found it to be very quiet and just .. not 3d sounding. i dont know how to adjust this to try and fix it either.. also, these drivers (4081 betas) are just overall buggy. ive noticed sometimes while switching to EAX or A3D, and even changing from 4 speaker output to anything else and then back, that it completely stops outputting to the rear channel! this doesnt fix until i reboot which is pretty fricken annoying.. but anyway .. any suggestions on the bad eax is appreciated..

i have pretty much the same config, v770 ultra with 2 366's at 550. i've had problems with ALL the detonator builds 3.5x and up. Always randomly crashing, sometimes a program will start fine, the next time it dies. Only the default win2k rc3 driver is worth a crap for me, it never locks up. Sigh, to have stable drivers and D3D, tis a dream.

just found these over at www.betanews.com .. http://fileforum.efront.com/detail.php3?fid=file3853edc140a45 Yes, they like to hide additional new stuff under the fileforum section, i hate that. Anyways, just wanted to point that out, going to go try them now ...

well, i tried taking the clockspeed down to the defaults with the 3.64 drivers and still no go. Well, being pretty pissed at this point i underclocked the card to 100mhz core and memory and behold .. it ran 3dmark2000. And man it was beautiful. At least, until it crashed 5 minutes later. As well as everything else crashing yet again. *sigh* ... i guess my computer just hates me =/

I have a bp6, 2 celery 366's at 550, 256 meg of ram, VERY stable machine. I use a Diamond Viper770 ultra TNT2 OC'd to 170mhz core 220mhz memory. Now, using the default win2k driver with only openGL support enabled, every runs just fine, no problems whatsoever. However when I tried all the detonator builds from 3.52 to 3.64 they all had the same result: everything that uses openGL or D3D locks up immediately. I've tried all the drivers in Half-Life and Quake 3 in both openGL and D3D, and every time it starts to change resolution it locks the whole computer up. It also locks up when starting the tests in 3DMark2000 as well as the dxdiag D3D test. Anyone with a similar setup got a way to fix this? I'd kill for a decent D3D enabled driver (hint hint nvidia). Not sure what the problem is here .. maybe the fact that i bought a generic card from a generic company. Note to everyone, don't buy anything made by Diamond Multimedia.

Anyone tried this setup in rc3 yet? Im totally sick of creative labs and their crappy win2k support .. i need 4 speaker output support NOW. I have a BP6, 2 celerys at 550, and was wondering if this soundcard will work okay.

Is creative labs even trying to figure out how to get liveware3 (or any other version for that matter) to install correctly on SMP enabled PCs running Win2k? Or are they just going to set back and wait until win2k is released and THEN start working on it? I've tried asking them about it but never got a straight answer from them .. I'd really hate to wait until sometime past February to get 4-speaker output support in win2k. It's practically a crime to rob my new Klipsch Promedia's of this feature
