i have my 1.33/266 @ 145 x 10 and under a decent load runs at 45-50c and idles at 35c. I can't use many of the soft menu settings without instabilities also. Im using the ZT 1.11+ BIOS available at www.viahardware.com its a very good board.

Ok, somewhat solved my Nero problem, but now its WNASPI32.DL

do you also have a regular ASPI layer installed too. Ive never seemed to have a problem with nero and i always have a seperate Adaptec ASPI layer though for cdrwin and programs without built in ASPI layers. -
for people that are trancEaddicts most of the napster clones suck. Ive tried WinMX, Napigator, and all that other jazz. The best combo ive found is IRC, AudioGalaxy, and websites that host live sets and other things. Normal everyday music is dime a dozen because everyone listens to it, but dance/electronic music is SOOO hard to get a hold of unless you know where to go. Napster of a year and 1/2 ago was the best, you could find anything on it. I consider myself an mp3 vetran too, ive been using Mp3 for 3-4 years now, and in all that time ive seen a lot come and go but the most dependable source for music is always IRC.

it has built in cd-burning functions very limited ones at that but it doesnt have support for burning UDF formatted disks that work with directCD.

http://www.viahardware.com/download/vagp405c.zip run in 2k compat mode when you install. This is the only driver you need in XP as it improves AGP performance.
-
i dont think there is a way to make it work in XP, looks like you will have to wait for a patch to come out for it.
-
i dont know where VIA got off saying the 4in1's are XP compatible when they aren't. Unless you run the installer in 2k compatability mode it won't even install anything but the DMA tool. The only thing that is even needed really is the AGP minport driver.

your not too good at tribes 2 you just need to stop playing on newbie pub servers and join a clan and play competatively. Tribes takes on a 100% different aspect when your playing in matches than when your dicking around on pubs.

Is There any sound card that works in win2k really well ?
ThC 129 replied to imtim83's topic in Hardware
i have no problems with DX 8 and my SantaCruz. When i was using 2k i had DX 8.1 on and didn't have any problems DirectSound 3d and EAX and A3d all worked fine still. -
Quote: Hi everyone i am on win2k pro right now and wondering if its worth going to Windows XP. So far what i heard and seen its ok. But not really that much worth it. Even thou my hardware is enough.... My old PIII500 with 256 ran XP very well not as nice as my new system does but it still ran well on the old system. As for using XP drivers on 2k, some you probably will such as display drivers and other items like that, but others won't be able to be used. As for product activation, well if you don't like it crack it. That is not illegal because you bought the CD so you can do what you want with it, kinda like game no-cd cracks. Plus you aren't limited in the amount of activations you get, yes you can only get 5 activations over the net, but if you do over 5 MAJOR upgrades in that time (major meaning processor and motherboard, and a HD) then you will have to call a 3rd party clearing house for activation. MS does not run the activation process directly, and the only info being sent is stuff like HD serial #s and other things. Much is still unclear on the whole activation thing but its not like you have to give your name SS# DOB 1st born child and things like that to MS. My best advice to you is to try the preview program or the 'unofficial' preview program (ya know that one w-word) and see if you like it and if not go back to 2k or 9x or win3.11 or linux or whatever else ya want. You never know about anything until you take that 1st step and try it.

seesh with all that work it would be easier to format and reinstall XP using NTFS. Oh and my boottimes are faster. Check your hardware settings it might be something like Creatve's Gay!ware slowing it down. My friend even said 2494 per boots faster and runs faster than 2495 pro.

yeah i got the file from stardock. I read someplace earlier that they werent going to be making a public beta for it but im sure as hell glad i don't have to look at that luna UI again bleck . Now i wonder if windowFX works with this too, if that does then i can get all my transparancies back.
-
works fine, besides having to get an app that uses directsound 1st to get it working right and some minor problems here and there but otherwise its working as well as can be expected using 2k drivers.
-
it is getting faster and faster with each build is pretty much all i can say. I mean there isnt anything "new" over 86 just more refinements to things.
-
its not going to lack features. Especially with a RC build. It should be safe to use it on both PCs at home.
-
the reset crack worked fine for me. I just put the 2481 winlogon.ex_ in the i386 dir along with setupreg.hiv and then used the reset crack and im running fine on 95

I have a problem when i click to share a file or folder the file the option to share it is greyed out. I don't know what caused it but now i can't fix it. Ive tried reinstalling F&PS but it didn't work. Anyone have any clues how to fix this?

there is a review of the board here http://www.soundcardcentral.com/reviews/motherboards/Abit_KT7E/page1.htm it seems to be the same as the rest of the KT7 series but just the chipset is the "E" chipset. I don't have any clue what the difference between the "a" and the "E" are, you might try viahardware to clear that one up.

SC and GTXP both work flawlessly in 2k. No issues whatsoever. Same driver base for both too. -

or worse yet going to the bathroom and getting lagged At least i still have my melee weapon.

its not up to MS to support 3rd party 3d APIs in windows. Its up to the driver manufactuer. In this case 3dFX but 3dFX is now dead so looks like you might be SOL.

if you have sp2 and the latest application compatability patch make a shortcut to the program you want to run, then under properties of that shortcut there should be a compatability tab. You can choose the emulation mode there.

holy sh*t. Yeah thats a really nice improvment.
