people are complaining because the live!ware 3 drivers sound like crap, and effect performance a lot. Not to mention the VIA chipset bug. If you go into 9x and play sounds using the CL drivers in that OS then go to 2k and use the drivers in that OS you will notice how bad the drivers are.

if your looking for a RTS game i recommend Emperor: Battle For Dune.

Ive noticed that the tweakUI autologin doesnt work anymore in 248x if you put a password on the account. For example without a PW i login to my desktop auto, but once i put in a PW it says the PW i put in is invalid. I know the PW is right in tweakui so i was just wondering if there was a way to get winxp to autolog you in if you have a password on your account.

this doesnt use the KT133a it uses the KT133e chipset. As for the differences between those 2 im not sure. It also doesnt seem to support as high of processors as the KT7A&Raid do.

SHS please ban this user. He is not following the forum rules. You already asked the question once and then we didnt have an answer then so because your so retarded you repost the same stupid question. If someone had a fix they would've posted it. This isnt a f.ucking conspiricy against you, NOBODY has a FIX so they can't help you.

in order to share files the same user must be logged on to windows ME and win2k. The UN you type in when ME starts should be the same as the 2k one.

i have an idea, how about you shut the hell up, and we will answer the problem if we have a solution.

i supposed the problem lies not with the drivers themselves or the OS itself, but the games. Many if not all games are designed to run on 9x because its easier to design a game for, because of the ability to not have to directly interface with the HAL itself, and how you can half-*** most of the things in 9x. 2k on the otherhand is very specific in what you can run on it and many people choose not to make games that work as well in 2k because of the 'not designed for gaming' line and because they are lackeys that don't want to. I mean why make something work well on an NT based OS when you can half-*** it and make it run even better on a 9x one.

people are saying RC1 slipped to the week of the 25th though i can't find any info to prove or disprove this.

im not 100% certain but i would say it will not. NTFS 5.1 has stayed pretty much the same throughout the XP betas.

ah ok. damn reset crack.

why are you using 3dmark 2000 anyway? 3dmark 2k1 is the Direct3d standard. Also win2k ISNT FOR GAMING, that is why benchmarks are lower on it.

try moving back to 256 megs of RAM ive heard this fixes the issue with some people too. All i know is that my fix works because everyone ive told to do it has had luck with it working.

yes program files and the windows directory always install to the same drive in windows. And no need to worry about 2k or ME worrying about what is in that directory because the registry controls the programs anyway. In fact (not recommended) i used to use the same program files directory when i was dual booting winxp personal and winxp pro to save space and i never had a problem as long as i installed the app in both OSes.

this happens with the new Cirrus logic chipset found on the Philips Acoustic Edge, Herc GTXP, and Santa Cruz. The only fix i have found besides blind luck is to start a directsound app up (i use tribes 2 so far i havent found anything besides games that work to get the sound working right) and exit the game. When you get back to the desktop your sound should work. This is the only workaround/fix until XP drivers come out.

its not a big deal because its an admin account and there is the default admin account if i need to do anything like remote desktop or something. Just kinda used to having the autologin with a PW happening. Not like i need security on this box anyway since its in my own home. 8)

well it works like that but that is the problem is that i want to have a password on this account. I guess we just have to wait for a tweakUI for XP or something.

no benchmarks are being done by sites until 2 things happen. 1st is the RTM of XP the 2nd is the release of certified XP drivers not Win2k drivers that work on XP. Its stupid to benchmark an OS that hasnt even hit RTM stages at this point because the benchmarks will be lower than 2k because your not working with a stable codebase and none of the benchmarking applications have been optimized for XP yet.

BOYCOTT CREATIVE. Get a realmagic hollywood+ same decoder card just without the crappy creative name on it. Im sure you can find an OEM version around for pretty cheap.

who cares why just tell him how to do it that is what he asked. This is how...go to the Device Manager then the top icon is computers, it will say Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) Compatible PC. Right click on this hit properties and go to update driver. Choose show drivers from a list and one of those will be Standard PC. Change to this driver reboot and you will no longer have ACPI enabled on your windows config. If your having problems i will post some screen shots later.

Linux partition not visible from Windows 2000 Explorer

yeah man, linux doesnt use FAT32. If you sit and think about it for a second it does seem odd ya know a Freeware product using an MS Filesystem. -
Ok this is for people that want to keep their current file systems intact. If you plan on doing an upgrade or just a repair install, this can be done with a full install too but i don't recommend it because it can leave some unwanted files and might cause problems. Anyway its pretty simple. You just start the install from windows instead of booting off the CD. This way the files needed to run setup are copied to a temp directory on your HD so when the 1st files load for setup they will read off your HD instead of your CD increasing the time it takes for the text portion of setup to start. NOTE: You can also start unattended installs this way using the following command line <cdrom>\i386\winnt32.exe /unattend:1 A:\Winnt.sif the :1 is the reboot time and the part after it is the location of the windows unattended script file. So another way it could be if i wanted it to reboot in 14 seconds and my answer file was on D: would be <cd-rom>\i386\winnt32.exe /unattend:14 d:\answerfile.txt this is a fairly easy tip but a lot of people do not know you can do this so just trying to save ya some of those seconds on windows installs. Unless you like pressing buttons and watching propoganda about winxp for 40 mins.
