I saw T3 and it was a good movie. It seems though that many movies are not "ground-breaking" anymore such as T2 was or the Matrix was. Out of all the movies I have seen lately here is a list of them in order of how i liked them: Matrix 2 - Loved it, saw it twice and that is not enough, love how they explain the computer world and back doors, and then the special effects to boot. X-Men 2 - Anything with "Wolverine", "professor X", or any of the mutants I grew up reading about as a Kid is with it. Great movie The Italian Job - great movie, nice crime/revenge flick. Lot of tech goodies in it, and some funny jokes too The Hulk - what can I say that would make this film sound good, the Effects were good in it, and the comic book effect was cool too. Other than that this movie sucked, no plot, too long, no sense of accomplishment for the characters (so no real character development), left me feeling like "Uhhh whats the point they are trying to make here?" Anyway Im really looking forward to some of the other movies coming out, The League of Extraordinary gentelmen looks awesome, as does Bad Boys 2 (from what Ive seen Brukhiemer has a tendancy to keep a lid on his productions until a week or 2 until they come out), then coming in to the fall you have The Matrix: Revolutions, The Lord of the Rings, Return of the King. Plus many others down the pipe will show up from obsecurity. Lastly, Im really, really looking forward to THE PUNISHER. I heard from someone there is so much voilence in this movie that they had to cut some out or else get a NC-17 rating. That is good though because that means they are keeping to who the punisher is, a Max Payne type of character who kicks a$$ and takes names!!

it happens once and a while a bad one will slip out of QA. Best thing to do is just return it (MS is good about RMAing mice and such) and grab a new one. I have a Logitech MX700 mouse, and this thing is great... but yeah thats kinda offtopic.

extracting password from XP pro dialup connection?
ThC 129 replied to HELLBRINGER's topic in Software
it does not work for DUN because DUN uses some kind of different window than most standard utils do. I have one of those password revealers, and it states that you can't recover DUN passwords -
hmm you should not have to lower your AGP setting unless you are having problems with your motherboard, and vidcard not liking each other, though if it works cheers Also Im using the Omega 3.4 based catalyst driver they are really nice seem a bit faster performance wise than the 3.4's do too Check em out www.omegacorner.com

What software do you use for Mp3/Wav playback?
ThC 129 replied to Lotus's topic in Everything New Technology
Winamp 2.9x because of visuals, plugins, skins (though WA3 free form skins rock). 5.1 Sound!!! Lets see WMP9 give you a center channel. Oh and BTW Winamp and WMP9 use the EXACT same directsound codec, so there is no way WA or WMP9 can sound different. Unless for some reason direct sound is polled diffferently from app to app. For you people with 6 speakers you can download the 5.1 Output plugin for Winamp, its kinda buggy but you do get your center chan!! There is also an A3d output plugin too, but i can only get 2 chans to work probably because most Mp3s are encoded in 2 chans. -
I see that Windows 2k SP4 is almost complete but I have not heard anything about RCs of Windows XP SP2. Hrmmm someone is going to have to get on Bill's arse about this

yeah provided you pay for your OS, then I would go XP Pro. XP home sucks hands down, its not even in the running. Server is configured for a server OS though i have not fooled with it too see how it is a viable Workstation. So with XP pro you will have more luck getting it to run and having better workstation options without having to change the OS all around.

ah cool thx man!!

Ive tried getdataback, it it is pretty good. I have not tried this PC Inspector, and I also have used FileScavenger. Out of GetDataBack and FileScavenger I liked FileScavenger better. I will have to try PC inspector if i ever have the need for it. Hopefully I dont but a nice fallback is good to have.

couldn't open partition to check signature
ThC 129 replied to sentme_mail's topic in Everything New Technology
hmm need a little more info: What OS is on the drive? Have you run any diagnostic programs on the drive: eg scan disk/chkdsk? Have you tried just a straight format on the drive? Try running a scandisk on the drive 1st to make sure there are no errors, and/or bad sectors is the 1st thing i would recommend. Other than that without a little bit more info i can't help ya. -
Domains without 'www' preceeding them don't work??
ThC 129 replied to mak-uk's topic in Everything New Technology
man APK is right. I recently started using Firebird and I love this browser. It is great, pop-up blocking, the ability to block unwanted banners. Free, community supported, many of the great features you can get in IE are all here. give it a try www.mozilla.org/firebird i believe is the URL I was using Opera until APK posted about Firebird, and now im not going back I love it. Tabbed browsing, Mouse Gestures, pop-up blocking. -
Everytime i use the runas command explorer crashes. I assume its from a hotfix conflict or something... im not sure it has happened every time i run something as administrator from my account though.

Did you grab the beta ATi drivers before they went down?
ThC 129 posted a topic in Everything New Technology
Seeing that this is the 1st time in the entire catalyst program that beta drivers have leaked, I was wondering if anyone besides me was brave enough to try them and how your experiences were?? -
you can also download the tweakUI powertoy for XP to set this as well.

Did you grab the beta ATi drivers before they went down?
ThC 129 replied to ThC 129's topic in Everything New Technology
actually this was the 1st time actual internal catlyst drivers were leaked by ATI, these are not OEM drivers like some that have popped up. I threw em on my system and they are running pretty good. It was said there wasnt going to be a big performance boost in these drivers like there was in the 3.4 drivers, mostly compatability and stability improvements. I threw em on and they are running fine, the one thing i noticed is that some of the display corruption problems seem to be resolved. I had some problems sometimes after i rebooted that I would get left over garbage in my video memory causing garbled displays, which was easily fixed by cutting the power to my system and turning it back on. The official 3.5 catalyst drivers will be released monday June23rd. -
Small, simple FTP server which supports Uploads' resume?
ThC 129 replied to ofelas's topic in Software
I use serv-u, it is by far one of the best apps i have used for FTP. I have used Bulletproof, until they decided to update it like once every 2 or 3 years, RaidenFTPd which is nice but its not the easiest to configure, and IIS which plain out sux. I have not tried the other one mentioned blackmoon or something, i will check it out. -
Ok, I set NAV to run once a week at x time. The primary account that I use is not the administrator account. Its a power user account with some custom modifications reguarding some permissions. Here is my problem: I have the admin account running and logged on or disconnected the task runs fine, doesnt matter who is logged on. If the admin account is logged off the scheduled task won't run. I have another app that i schedule to run under the admin account and the workstation just runs the app no problems or questions, that is with the account logged off, not in disconnect mode. I have been trying to get this to run but it will not. Is there some way to curcumvent this process or to have the account log on and log off at a certain time so that this will complete?

you might want to check powerquests supoort sight as their KB is pretty good at telling you how to fix the various errors that arise with their programs. Next time you get the message write down the error number (they usually ALWAYS have an error number) and look in the "Master Error List" it will tell you why you are getting the error as well as how to fix it.

the problem is the way the norton task scheduler creates the task. I dont want the main account i use running scheduled tasks because of conflicts in security settings. So i run them under the admin account. The way my user accounts are set up are the account im using now Account 1 = Power User Account 2 = Built in Admin NAV will not let a power user schedule a task within it, and will not even give users rights to access it. So thus the .job file is invisible to the power user account. THAT is why it would not run, because the account didnt see the file. So instead I created the same scheduled task using the Create New Task button from the Scheduled Tasks folder, and set all the properties the same. So if the admin account is not logged on by time the task is scheduled to run it will not run, because nobody but the admin sees that task. I wanted it to run in a passive mode, so that even if no accounts were logged on then the task would still run. NAV wouldnt let me so i made my own file and said the hell with symantecs task scheduler.
-
yeah i would try lowering every detail to low then try it, and if it doesnt work then it is probably due to invalid sys reqs.

I have enabled some custom policy settings and would like to save these settings where might i be able to find where they are saved to??
-
Ah cool, i was looking for those files. I guess I forgot to turn on look in hidden and system folders ;(

I didnt solve the problem so I circumvented it. For some reason the Norton Task Scheduler is retarded so I made my own task using the windows one. Tested it and the timer ran perfectly. It seems that NAV will only let admin's have access to the program, as per Designed for Windows XP logo standards. Anyway everything is running the way it should not, and I can go on using this account in a limited mode, and keep the admin account for what its supposed to be.
