Anyone know of any disk defraggers that work in XP?? Diskeeper doesnt, Speed disk doesnt. Those are the only 2 ive heard of and seen that are relatively good.

i havent had any problems with nero 5.5 or EZ CD Creator. EZ CD 5 installed fine in beta 2 and 2465

I see a large difference in installing a piece of software on 2 computers and installing the same piece on 20 computers. If someone won't let you install a piece of software on a homenetwork (not more than 3 computers) and make you purchase 3 different versions so they can make more money is bullshit. It doesnt cost them profits by a few extra installs. It is the people who violate their site liscenses by installing 1 piece of software on a corporate network instead of buying the site liscense that anger me otherwise im not really that opposed to casual copying.

i would say the problem is no natvie dos mouse drivers. I cant think of anything else other than that.

cool if openGL performance is better in SP2 then it will be better in XP 2469 too. XP 2469 looks sweet too. YAY.
-
Sp2 is mostly bug fixes it will be in no way shape or form as good as XP will be in terms of 3dmarks when it is finished. I know some of the fixes include better application compatability support, the VIA chipset fix the AMD fix, fixed ATA-100 support. Im sure someone will post the list of fixes pretty soon.

when you select your system select Multiprocessor PC not Standard.
-
it says in the install you can format them FAT32. I dont have one to try it out on though LOL
-
sorry as far as i know there are no work arounds or anything since EA flat refuses to support any NT5+ OS looks like you have to stick with 95,98 or ME.

yes the P4 architecture is due to change. You won't start seeing DDR SDRAM boards for P4s until the end of the year or begining of next year. Plus AMD is a cheaper solution plus the overclockability makes a great return on your investment. With T-birds you get an avg of 200mHZ more out of them and even more if you do motherboard 'tweaks' like pushing the voltage higher than spec'd. Plus no RDRAM so with the money you save there you can get another 256 meg DIMM . So just say NO! to intel and RAMBUS.

I just saw on the front page ATI has made specific XP drivers not 2000 drivers, do you guys think other compaines will start following this trend or will they wait until the OS hits RCs if not RTM stage before making drivers??
-
i havent had this problem are you using the indexing service too or just regualr search?? I havent experienced this prob myself so iu cant tell ya what to do
-
because when i installed DK6 it overwrote the built in crippled version of diskeeper.

Are all MS XP products gonna be sold on a subscription basis
ThC 129 replied to zirik's topic in Hardware
subscription based products are sold and maintained on the web. All your software is mainintaed someplace else so you do most of your work on a program that isnt on your machine, this way bug fixes and SPs can be integrated more easily. Who told you that you have to pay to get SPs and things that is not how subscription based software works. Im not a proponent of that kind of software but it is easier for some compaines. -
Also what build of XP, i know beta 2 has a very flaky explorer. 2465 explorer seems more stable. You will probably need to format though.

shared irqs in w2k how can i seperate them?
ThC 129 replied to braxin's topic in Customization & Tweaking
Don't worry about it 2k shares IRQs and does all the IRQ handling by ACPI. If you don't want shared IRQs change from ACPI enabled PC to Standard PC this will fix it but you will lost all ACPI features. -
Any way to stop computername in username?
ThC 129 replied to Hawkman's topic in Customization & Tweaking
the only time ive seen it do that is if you reinstall 2k on top of a 2k install. To fix it other than regediting i don't know. -
it has to do with your vid card drivers update them to 12.00 WHQL and you will be fine.
-
try www.m3dzone.com they MIGHT really really MIGHT highly probable they could have it. Of course since w*rez isnt allowed on here i wouldnt be able to tell you where to get it (m3dzone.com)

try changing your video card drivers.

I try to access my computer at home from a computer here at work and when i try I get Quote: you do not have the proper encryption level for this session. both computers are running build 2465. Anyone know what to do i didnt run across this answer in the great 'Help Center' that winXP provides.
-
Dont have proper encryption level for remote connection??
ThC 129 replied to ThC 129's topic in Hardware
yeah it seems to be a known bug in 2465. It doesnt matter who is logged on the remote machine anyway since it prompts you for a UN/PW anyway. -
Sharing drives in 2462? And cant see any other pc's...
ThC 129 replied to Brian Frank's topic in Hardware
the best place to set all your computer functions is the Computer Management Console from admin tools. This lets you see what processes/services/perfromance/shares pretty much everything. So 9 times out of 10 if it has to do with computer policy its in there. -
its not just microsoft that comes up but other companies too. I find the feature to be helpful and annoying too, i havent come up with a final judgement on it yet.
