i recently got a T-bird 1.33ghz and an Abit KT7-a. The problem is that when i start my system it stays on for about 5 seconds then the power dies. Any clues as to what might be wrong?? Ive tried removing everything but RAM and vid card
-
solved it. Put the CPU power connecter on Fan 2 instead of Fan 1.

Anyone heard anything on SP2 for W2k?? I mean this was supposed to be out like a month ago or more. Though I did find a RC of SP2 on m3dzone.com if anyone is interested.

to get more uninstall options find the file sysoc.inf and remove the word HIDE from it (go to notepad press alt-h and type in find what:hide then replace it with no text.) and save it. As for not having to enter a password go to www.download.com and get either x-tek's x-setup or tweakUI. If you have any probs either post here or icq or e-mail me.

i would like to see an easier way to change shells in windows too much like gnome and X-Windows for Linux. And that replicator didnt sound too bad either. -
cost too much?? I got my hollywood+ 2 years ago for less than $100. Anyway i dont know of any other hardware decoding cards besides the hollywood+ i mean the DXR3 is pretty much a CL version of it. As for software the best software DVD player is PowerDVD.

i dont know it cant be that hard to make decent drivers for win2k, i mean there are plenty of other sound card compaines out there...wait there arent really anymore. Geez it cant be that hard to fix i mean the 9x drivers are pretty good. And also what ever happened to their driver updates when i 1st got my live they released 2 new live!ware versions in less than 6mos. Now its been almost 1 1/2 if not 2 years since the release of LW 3 and there has been no news about live!ware 4 or even any attempt to make inroads at the SMP issue.

man that sucks donald, i will try installing it on my system and see if those work for me or not. I might have to start playing some RS again though i dont think gamespy will run on XP but GS Arcade does.
-
donald try these fixes on R6 Application Name: Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Fixes/Apphelp applied: DLL - VirtualRegistry DLL - ForceCDStop DLL - IgnoreAltTab Attributes for RainbowSix.exe: Attributes for data\actor\50galdrum_bomb.mso: File Size 0x1ED File CheckSum 0xA49C0B84 Attributes for data\bitmap\Benelli_12Guage.RSB: File Size 0x874A Attributes for data\kit\bio_suit.eq: File Size 0xEE File CheckSum 0x2475498F i got these from the appcompat browser in whistler. It says what fixes were applied to get things running in XP/2k.

yeah i like roguespear more than i like CS. The qualty of players is better in RS than CS, most of the CS players ive played with are nothing but whiney kids. Roguespear players are generally cooler and dont whine and ***** when they get killed.

AHAH what is DOS, man its funny how many people in my MIS classes dont know the 1st thing about computers. They just wanted to get into the IS/IT bizz so they can make some money. I mean why get into a field you know nothing about and have little interest in (i mean if these people had interest in the field they would know how a computer works and how to a/dissemble one), its like me saying i want to be a neruosurgen and not caring or knowing nothing about the human body. Its people like that that cause more trouble when they are trying to fix things because they know JS about computers, they just have a piece of paper from McDonalds U on their wall.

odd it used to be up there i dont know what happened to it. But yeah try deleting your temp files and cookies. If that doesnt work then i guess you will have to just manually update.
-
as for IE 6 i dont know when it will be out i supposed in a month or 2 once XP hits RC's. As for MSConfig no windows 2000 doesnt have this option you have to do the registry/system files editing manually.

and if your that worried about data storage im sure you have a old HD you can throw on the non-raided IDE channel to but data on that you absolutely cant get another copy of, or burn it. And congrats on getting the last component in your new system, now your ready to start looking at bigger and better stuff in a month or 2. I still need the drives and monitor and then im finished, i might upgrade my vid card somewhere in there too.

i recently replaced my old gateway anykey keyboard ive had that keyboard for close to 10 years until my stupid friend spilled bong water on it ruining it, so i picked up a MS nat'l keyboard elite for 23 bucks. Still getting used ot the split design but it is better for typing.

oh god your using the ASUS drivers try the nvidia drivers those will provide the best performance. If you want utilities get nvmax from http://www.nvmax.com
-
do you have SP1 and the AMD/VIA patch installed? Have you tired turning off fast writes in the BIOS??
-
Hell with Windows for dummies this is Windows for Preschoolers LOL
-
yes it says on MS's windows update site how ot fix that error check there and see if you cant find the solution. I know it requires deleting some cookies and things.

well for UT i usually just use the ingame browser, Kingpin I dunno dont have it installed. And Q3 I use gamespy. As for why heat.net went under i dont know but i liked it a lot nothing beats simulated IPX connections over the net heat was nice very fast too. So other than gamespy or mplayer i dunno besides the internal browsers they have. Oh yeah you could also check out gamespy arcade that might help too.

duh its our job to confuse people here so they don't come back and post again. I mean that is why we have jdulmage and DOSFREAK around to antagonize people. One thing i like over FAT is NTFS's ability to compress files.
-
the reason for XP not being able to have all those install/uninstall features avail through add/remove programs is because they expect most people using pro or higher to run installation scripts which many of us do, so that way the stuff we want on or off is there (if you want to take more stuff out go to %systemroot%\inf and edit the sysoc.inf to not have the word HIDE in it). As for the Photoshop 6 thing ive heard that PS 6 is unstable in XP anyway so that is probably why. Even as M$ stated WinXP isnt going to be a whole new OS just a revamped version of 2k which it is. They don't expect many 2k pro users to go over to XP they expect many businesses running NT4 or 9x operating systems on their boxes to go over to XP. The only annoyance ive had with XP is the unstable explorer in it other than that i like the eXPerience ive had with it.

one thing i like about EZ CD 5 is that you can make it so that your mp3 CDs will autostart playing when you insert them into your drive.
