I have a GF 2/MX and the 11.01 drivers and i ran the latest nvrefresh under win2k compatability mode and it works!!!! No more 60hZ refresh rate or tweaking INFs!!

no problem. Friends dont let friends play at 60hz =). Now donate money so i can get a new box and play T2 at a decent frame rate

to enable compatability mode, make a shortcut to the .exe you want to use (in this case nvrefresh.exe) and then go to properties it is listed in there under compatability modes. Or select the run in compatability modes icon on your desktop.

thats why i bought a turtle beach santa cruz. AKA the live killer.

yeah i use XP for everything now i used to just use 2k with a lot of tweaks but with Whistler i dont even need half the tweaks because it runs so well

I can tell you it is the live!ware because when i had my Live in loading would take forever. Now that I have a Santa Cruz i have cut my boottimes in 1/2. So either uninstall **** !ware or get a new Soundcard =)

if you want to make tweaked drivers make sure you use the newer INF and place the hacked drivers in a folder and upgrade. If that doesnt work you will need to turn off system file protection.

upgrading an OS is usally going to cause problems its better to clean install it.

there is a 3dFX patch on www.etplanet.com try that and see if that works.

Ive bought WD and maxtor drives, and I had a problem with a 8 gig maxtor crash on me i sent it back to maxtor and received a 10 GIG drive in return from them not more than 2 days after I called them for the RMA # and that drive has been running fine for 2 1/2 years now. I have never had a problem with my WD drives at all from my original 514mb to my 10 gig now. So i would recommend Maxtor or WD for drives.

I have a SantaCruz the only problems ive had with it are in WinXP and i suppose this is related to Direct X 8 (yes their drivers don't support DX 8 yet) but i found a work around for it that does what i need it to. Other than that small driver problem in XP i have found the card to be great otherwise. A3d support, EAX 1.0 and 2.0 support also. Not to mention the VersaJack which will allow another set of speakers which is 6 speakers compared to the 4 you are allowed on the Live! cards. Or you can turn the jack to a digital out port or an analog line-in.

yeah it would be nice to know if the CDs burned using internal CD burning are only readable in whistler or any OS

to answer the response about need 9x to update your BIOS you need to be in a PURE DOS prompt (like booting off the 98 SE CD and choosing to boot without cd rom support will work) and have the ROM and Flashing Program on there too.

dont know what to tell ya other than to load 2k on a partion to get the settings from the reg on there. BTW I have a GF 2 MX so yes it works on GeForce cards

check the startup sections of the registry to take it out of there HKCU and HKLM both have startup sections im not sure which one will have it in there but that is how to get MSConfig to not start everytime it is loaded

the H+ card won't run until Sigmadesigns come out with new drivers that support this OS otherwise it won't work.

its too late now i just formatted and lost my live!Service hack but doesnt matter anyway since i don't have a POS soundcard called Creative Soundblaster live!. But to help you guys out some i got the link off these boards or maybe i didn't but anyway its nothing more than using srvany.exe to make devldr32.exe run as a service.

felix, i would check pricewatch.com or one of those sites to see what vendors will ship to you. Vampyr, the Santa Cruz is everything the Live! isnt, so if the Live! has it then the SC probably has it too but better. Im pretty sure it can do both of those i know it has soundfonts too it. If you want to know more then go to VIAhardware.com and check their FAQ and/or msg boards.

i dont have this problem because i was smart and backed up my refresh rate entries that i fixed in 2k before i upgraded to XP. Now i get the max usable refresh rate at all colors than just deleting the other rates.

all of the beta's since Win2k RTM have been released as bootable ISO images. Then if they arent there is still the bootable SP1 CD guide you can follow minus the SP1 install parts. If you mean by 'other' cracks then go to www.etplanet.com or #msbeta on efnet.

acutally the turtle beach santacruz works FLAWLESSLY in W2k and beyond unlike other sound cards (hack cough live! series)

check www.etplanet.net for WinXP cracks that will disable activation for ya.

yes that is the purpose of the product activation it is meant to prevent casual copying of the CD and installs.

umm if the game ran fine without compatiability modes then why turn them on??
