Live!Service is a hack someone made to make your Live!ware run as a service thus eliminating the HUGE boot time problem the live!ware for 2k has. after installing live!service my boot times decreased dramatically.

in order to turn it on you need to get tweakUI or set the switch in your registry. In tweakUI you can set it to auto-log you on.

its been said that M$ will release WMP 8 after they release XP beta 2, and WMP 8 is a LOT better than 7 but i still like and use winamp.

most people are better off getting the 2458 crack by night since it is really the best crack out for XP now. The only problem i encountered with the 2458 updated crack by night was that i had to use the recovery console to overwrite the winlogon.exe but other than that I am activation free so f*ck M$'s CD-key and activation bullsh*t.

hehe you said buy...yeah it seems the cracks for XP are getting more and more complicated, even M$'s beta testers are having a sh*t-fit over the activation crap. The thing is though that M$ will have all-in-wonder CD-keys that will deactivate product activation, like there is in OfficeXP so im not too worried about it.

Well so far i havent had any problems installing Live!Ware with the accompained Live!Service hack. EAX and DirectSound 3d seem to be working right, though since i have headphones i really can't tell since i don't have the rear speakers.

according to Wininformant it should be released either late today or early tomorrow. It slipped a few days because of a last minute bug found.

Ok you guys know how when you insert a mp3/audio CD that media player defualts to open it, I want to change this to winamp instead of WMP 8 anyone know what regkey does this?

its not the point of wheather or not winamp will recognize the files, it is that when the autoplay box comes out with what i want to do when i select the play media files i would rather have winamp instead of WMP 8 come up.

I havent heard any real specs on Nero 5.5 yet but nero keeps getting better with every version so i know im gonna get 5.5 when it comes out.

ive tried a lot of different things and i still can't get them working right. It seems to be that the driver doesnt recognize the OS right and doesnt load right so it either doesnt load or stays resident causing DVDstation not to work. Im getting PISSED though because its either put ME or 2k on to watch my DVDs in hardware mode or use PowerDVD to watch them in software.

well i have used EZCD 5 but not nero 5.5 yet but my experience with EZCD 5 is that its ok probably one of the best all around but there are some bugs in it and other things about 5 i don't like but there are other things i like in 5. To recommend a program i couldnt say which is better nero or EZCD i like nero more but others like EZCD more. So look for some 'demo' versions of both and try them and see.

yeah i know i didnt know the spelling off the top of my head. And i have never used it because from the time ive downloaded it to now i still havent used win2k long enough to reinstall window blinds and that program heck i havent even used w2k since i started using whistler.

i dont know but save yourself the headache and dont use EZCD 5 anyway its OK but not as good as nero. (yes ive been swayed to the nero side in the CD burning program war.) It (EZCD5)is very buggy and shouldnt have been released until further testing couldve been done on it.

there are a lot of reasons i switched to XP over 2k. One of those is the boottime, the other is terminal services, skinning is nice too, also the new improvments they have made in making it easier for people to up/downgrade drivers easier. System restore is a nice feature for amateurs who like to fool around to learn and end up f-ing their system. Also integrated CD-burning and more multimedia funtionality helped move me to XP. Ive used a lot of MS operating systems but I have never found a better OS than XP, to me the jump from 2k to XP was like the jump from DOS to 9x. When all the cards are down MS is making a good step in thee right direction in aiming an OS promoting the three things home users and business users alike want. Stability, Speed, and Multimedia funtionality which includes support for the newest USB devices and the latest hardware architecture. If you read some of the White papers on XP then you will see there is A LOT more to it than what is on the surface of the OS. This OS will be M$'s sink or swim OS.

I was just wondering if anyone has come accross of a copy of office XP yet and what they thought of it. I have office 10 but havent installed it yet.

Well this is an easy solution....buy a new NIC. Im sorry but ISA devices are slowly being phased out and drivers are getting thrown out with them. I mean a generic PCI NIC is like 10 bucks for a 10baseT card. This seems to be the only solution available. So go to the local computer store and splurge and buy a 10/100 linksys NIC.

this problem was already covered a while back. But at least its nice to know that symantec will get off its arse and make a PR about how to fix it.

i have a program called transparitiser that will allow transparansies in 2k. E-mail me and i will send it to ya.

i have had no problems with directCD 5 in 2k at all. The only problem is the UDF layer that directCD 5 uses is different than all other versions but for some reason doesnt auto-install like the old versions did. You just need to get the latest UDF reader from adaptec to make 2k read CDs formatted in DirectCD 5 when it is not installed. I had a similar problem in whistler since it doesnt like directCD 5 much.

i havent tried it yet i got 2446 and now im just gonna wait another week or 2 for beta 2 since i dont want to reformat my drives again.
