New nForce 2.14 WHQL Drivers released
ThC 129 replied to ThC 129's topic in Everything New Technology
had some probs switching over the IDE drivers other than that everything is good. The sound quality is great. -
Saw over on warp2search that the new Cat 3.4s are going to be going live sometime today. Keep and eye out folks. These new drivers are supposed to bring some stability and speed improvements to the line. The drivers are now live!! Go to the ATi site and grab em!!

well as stated there is big money to be made in the 3d gaming market for hardware vendors, for developers and for puslishing companies. So is it odd to see people trying to 'cut corners' nah not really kinda normal actually. Much like the Intel -vs- AMD in true gHZ rating and then how AMD has the gHZ+ rating. But yeah im looking more for stability and bug fixes, rather than a 15% gain which in like 60FPS isnt much anyway.

I get a message value creation failed " at line 432. Anyone know how to fix this?? **EDIT** It will still not work under the primary account i use to log on but it will work under the Administrator account??

yes and no. If its a local site with not much traffic then it can be deemed reliable. That is as long as you have no download tweaks or anything enabled. If its a highly trafficed site like C|Net or something then it can be scewed because of the amount of people accessing the site at the time.

I bought my A7n8x deluxe because it was the all in one solution. Onboard Dual LAN, onboard RAID (in the form of SATA), onboard audio, onboard Firewire. Well so far after having to deal with audio problems (related to drivers from nVidia), onboard firewire problems (related for some reason to creative drivers or nVidia firewire). I do not know if i will buy an nForce board again. So far in order to get my Nomad Jukebox 3 working up to par i have had to put in a 3rd party firewire card. In order to get my sound problems fixed i have had to put my old soundcard back in. So the 2 main things that were the selling point of this board have no fallen by the wayside. Nothing new has been heard of from nVidia in over a month on when new nForce drivers will be out that will fix these problems. Yet they announce the nForce 3 pro, when it seems the nForce2 isnt even ready for primetime yet. We see nVidia constantly release drivers for their video cards, what is keeping them from releasing drivers that will solve these problems beta or not. I just thought i would like to share these thoughts with people thinking about getting a nForce2 chipset.

I tried the ones from windows update last time and i got a BSOD when i tried to install em. I will try again later. Yay these ones installed fine. This plus lowering the "original Sound Output" level in the sound enviornment manager should stop my southbridge from getting too hot and causing the crackling. Other question: Anyplace i can get a better heatsink for my Southbridge than the one that is on there now. The one that comes with it is kinda small and not even that thick, thus the reason a lot of people are having the sound crackling issue.

ive been over there and tried all the solutions. Nothing has worked. Get the same stupid sound cracking/corruption problem no matter what. The 1394 issue is directly related to ONLY creative jukeboxes and nForce firewire. Kinda ghey really. The jukebox is a nice product too, its a shame i had to buy a seperate firewire card to get it to work right.

I think he is trying to set up a program for WindowsNT on Windows 98?? Anyway, depends on the program, if it was made for NT4 chances are if it does not install on 98 then it won't. Most new programs are made with Windows 9x/2000/XP in mind. So look for an updated version of the program or try and find one designed for 9x.

make sure your account does not have a password on it. If the admin account doesnt have a PW on it it should just log you on automatically. If that doesnt work download the Windows XP powertoys off of the Microsoft Windows XP site.

SERV-U 4.1 server can't connect, then says online, but cant
ThC 129 replied to HELLBRINGER's topic in Software
I have found serv-u to be one of the best FTP servers out there. I am always on the lookout for more advanced or better FTP servers though. Like RaidenFTPd is a good server but very hard to configure the way you want it. -
I paid almost $80 for my MS Intellimouse explorer when they 1st came out. I also own a MX 700 and its a great mouse to have. I just put it in the recharge base at night and in the morning its always fully charged.

games work regaurdless of file system, whereever or whoever told that games have to be run on FAT32 is full of it. Also if you are running XP Home then there is no way to encrypt files because it doesnt have the ability to do that.

yeah i tried to find something on this a while back all over the Roxio site but there isnt nothing to be found. So i just assumed Drag to Disc was that app. EZ CD 6 is nice, but I dont like the fact that it FORCES you to copy CDs on the fly. So I stick with Nero/InCD

What software do you use for Mp3/Wav playback?
ThC 129 replied to Lotus's topic in Everything New Technology
anyone that doesnt use Winamp 2.xx is retarded... well thats my opinion. Winamp 2.xx is the MOST HIGHLY support audio playback application on this planet. I mean you could always go with the WM9 series, and having used WMP 9 its not that bad but its still an MS product. I like Winamp 3 because of a few of the playlist features (multiple playlists, enqueue without moving the tracks around) and free form skinning. There are some really cool winamp3 skins out there. So i use 2.9 and Winamp3 -

I have 512 meg PC2100 DDR. What should I set my swapfile to?
ThC 129 replied to pr-man's topic in Software
if you have 2 hard drives/partitions then i recommend taking the swap file off the system partition entirely. As for pagefile, just run a log and see how much of the page file is being used when you play RTCW. This way you will get an idea of how much of the page file is used and you can set it accordingly. -
I was wondering who here has had a chance to play the recently opened PlanetSide beta. I got a chance to fool around with it yesterday and I can say it is AWESOME!!! I had my doubts about it, seeing that I didnt understand how something like a FPS would make it in the MMO world. This game can hold its own and will soon dethrone Counter-Strike as the most widely played game on the internet. As of right now there are over 3500 people playing the game, and that is at one time!! So anyone out there that is a fan of Tribes or games like that I urge you to get your butt out there and get the beta of this game because it is a KILLER!!!! This game is Dave Gorgenson's dream of what the original Tribes should be, MASSIVE and FUN with an emphasis on team work!! http://www.planetside.com and http://www.planetside.com/beta
