also don't ask for links to full version software in this forum. Many people here are in or are associated with the 'scene' but we don't give out links due to moderator requests.

i have used EZ CD 4 nero and CDrwin and DirectCD and all have worked fine for me as long as i have the right ASPI layer on my box. As for EZ CD5 working in Whistler no it doesnt at least my copy won't it starts the install then just quits.

What is the best program for burning music cds for Win2k?
ThC 129 replied to pr-man's topic in Software
cool xcrash thanks for that comparison. Too bad they didnt test EZ CD 5 in there and too bad I cant even get it to install in whistler to try it Anyway looks like i will use music match to burn my Mp3s to CDs now in audio or decode them 1st. -
anyone having any problems with certain java apps?? I can't seem to get certain java script actions to run reguardless of having a Java runtime environment installed or not. The reason i ask is that i use a remote connection program and if there wasnt a work around then is there a way to rip the remote connection interface from XP and use it in 2k.

the ram one processor speed of winME and 9x is what he is talking about. Yeah most games arent written to support SMP but when you can set the processor afinity to real-time on one and regular on the other that has a difference. You need to lay off the crack, not as fast as 9x/ME yeah gotta love that hybrid DOS operating system let me tell you. Not to mention the killer stability you have in 9x/ME too. Yup even MS thinks that ME and 9x are the future that is why they based XP on the 2k kernal duh!!

yeah i had a similar problem with my card then i changed my gf 2 out to my TNT and it was fine. But still i thought it was an nvdia prob but i dont know what it is now. Specs: ASUS-P2B 1.0.1.2 BIOS PII 400 256m PC133 Kingston ValueRAM Leadtek WinFast GF 2 MX H+ DVD Decoder card SB Live! Value Generic NIC

well i have used whistler off and on since the 1st developer preview and i will take it off because of something in the beta will get me angry but i always return to it because its like 2k but much more user friendly.
-
the best is to find a copy of directCD someplace. DirectCD 5 is the best packet writing software ive seen for 2k but that isnt on the market yet...so your best bet is to look around for one.
-
yeah i use it with 2428 and it works fine. The only thing i have had a problem with is it saving the explorer shortcut arrow wrong. I cant get it to stay a light arrow or non-existant.

well SHS is the resident driver hacking expert. If his 3dFX advice doesnt help ya then your fuct.

yeah i could always use some installshield ones. i already have some installervise once.
-
yeah i just got a link from a friend of mine that will take care of em. here it is for those people that dont want the SMS or the gay banners with ICQ. http://pks.theshoppe.com/

as for the NIC settings Im sure they work though i havent tried em. Also a friend of mine who isnt very computer savvy like we are, tried both 2k and Whistler and he said Whistler was more user friendly and easier to configure than win2k is/was for him. Whistler is also very fast when you have over 128megs of RAM. I have used it with 256 and 128 and the extra 128 made a HUGE difference in whistler where in 2k it only made a moderate difference.

Im trying to confirm this but so far it seems when whistler tries to install GeForce 2 chipset cards during setup it will freeze the computer. It has done this with 2419 and now 2428. If you have had either of these builds install correctly with a Geforce 2 card please post here so this bug can be proven or disproven. My experience was that when it got to installing the devices and it went to configure the vid card it halted the setup. I changed to a TNT and the setup process proceeded without any problem.
-
hmm because when i was installing when it detected and tried installing the vid card it flickered then just died. After i put my TNT in it was fine. It could also be my poo poo old arse monitor too though
-
Not sure i will look into it
-
I have found the problem. The problem lies with the GeForce 2 chipset. I had the same problem until i switched out my GF 2 MX with my old Riva TNT and after i switched cards the setup completed fine. So please pass this bug onto the whistler team.

Im currently specing out my new system Im going to build in the coming months so i was wondering what HDs people like and recommend. Im looking to buy 2 drives so I can have a 2 drive RAID array. This/these drive(s) will be mostly used for buisness things such as audio editing multi-media spreadsheets, and some game playing. Pre-Reqs: at least combined storage of 80gigs preferably 100. 7200RPM or higher ATA100 support. Stable drive that will last

yeah MS tend to fill their OSes with extra crap i dont want like WMP7 and 8. I mean they should just install the CORE components needed to run then let you install what you want over it.

or search the frontpage news for the hybrid drivers that will allow overclocking.

What is the best program for burning music cds for Win2k?
ThC 129 replied to pr-man's topic in Software
directCD and nero are 2 different catagories of burning software. DirectCD is a packet Cd writer which will allow you to burn CDs in UDF format (which nero can also do if i remember correctly) which basically makes them 650-700mb floppy disks with cut and past options direct from windows explorer. So to compare DirectCD and nero is like comparing American Football to Hockey. -
thanks. Now i can run autoprotect with NAV2k1.
