wow thats trippy do you have DX 8 installed with 7.17 are you running Direct3d or OpenGL in it and like they said try using other drivers than the 7.17 ones. -
http://www.reactorcritical.com/download.shtml#1000 there ya go a link to a ton of geforce drivers. I use 7.17 for my GeForce 2 MX and have no problems with them.

there are ways to do it using certain files that alter the setup process in some ways. you just have to look around for them.

LOL clutch. F all your systems mine is the best. Quadruple 386 60mHZ processors. 4 500kb non-edo SIMMS Windows bah DOS 3.0 here baby!! Not to mention my killer array of (dont drool) 2 (yes thats 2) 300mb HDs and last of all my 13" 30hz refresh 11.5" viewable monitor with max resolution of 512x480 oh my god i forgot my AWESOME vid card a cirrus logic 1mb 800x600 max (yeah i know i cant get the max res on my cool monitor but if i wait a couple years they might have some better ones out) So my system is better than all of yours hell i can even play Wolfenstien on mine. Oh and oXide why dont you shut the hell up I dont give a sh*t how much mommy and daddy pay for your system or how much your stolen parts cost or whatever the hell your system is because you can spend your money on a computer i will save my money for a trip to europe to go raving and see some of the worlds best DJs live or i will save my money and spend it on something that will last me more than 6 months. Either way bragging is for losers, people don't post system specks to see who has the best box they do it so people can see why one thing might work on someone's system or not.
-
yeah i canned creative's poo!ware drivers and went back to default drivers. How is the santa cruz in 2k?? And how does it compare to the live! ?
-
yeah i would say go for 2k. The main concern for you is probably USB support, and since the world of graphics design especially CAD changes very rapidly new programs and/or devices might not work in NT4 if they are USB but would work in 2k. Plus NT4 is older than 98 so it would be more of a regression instead of an upgrade. Plus 2k will handle the amount of ram you have better than NT4 would.

the way to make a SP2 CD is the same way as making a SP1 CD. No difference, as long as you patch the original I386 files with the ones from the SP then your fine.
-
please elaborate on what you will be using the system for. If your just gonna play Mp3s than its kinda overkill. If your gonna run a Quake 3 server off a T3 then its worth it. So what do you plan on doing with the box once you build it. What kind of usage apps, editing, business, or gaming??
-
your the second person to say that. I heard earlier today that it increased speed too. Could it be that MS is ashamed to adminit it f-ed up 8 so it tucked a backdoor fix into 8a?
-
im guessing sometime around the time of whistler beta 2. So look for it around the 17th of feb
-
it seems the link on the MS site is gone. ICQ me @ 4978552 or e-mail me @ psheehan@memphis.edu if you can provide me with a download

DDRS SDRAM and regualr SDRAM arent all too different

What is this error and Why am i all of a sudden getting it ?
ThC 129 replied to Sparkhard's topic in Software
yeah you will probably have to but try and recreate the error. It sounds like your IDE controllers and Win2k arent getting along too well. -
hmm well as far as i can tell its probably one of 3 problems. A motherboard/HD conflict problem which would cause winamp to f-up if its always trying to load files. A DMA problem with your drives or just a plain motherboard problem. I dont think it is software but im not sure, it doesnt seem like a driver problem either, so im guessing it has to be a conflict caused by your motherboard and hard drives. At least that is the only conclusion i can come up with.

**Begin rant please skip post if you dont want to read it**** for the people that dont understand why you need more ram for win2k it is because there are services that are constantly running so your memory's priority goes toward these. 9x doesnt have services and that is why it crashes so much. So with more ram there will be enough free resources to run the games and services sufficently without using swap file space. SO GET MORE RAM WHILE IT IS CHEAP. Other than that there isn't a general way to make your performance better other than drivers and patches. As for the D3D performance issue i run most of my games in OpenGL because of that reason. I don't like M$ api's like D3D. Good hardware is key too. If you have good name brand **** in Win2k that is well the best or within the top 3 products win2k is less likely to **** up. The people with good hardware don't post half as many problems than the ones with cheap **** . Anyway all i have to say is that the vetrans should try and be nicer to the newer people here rather than just flaming them on their 1st post on something, people need to learn and shouting at them and making fun of them doesnt encourage them to try and learn from a mistake. ***** END RANT**** Have a nice day

how many HDs do you have running on your system? You said a lot but didn't specify.
-
I could play the games i like tribes, half-life, homeworld, UT, and Q3 fine on earlier versions but now as the OS is progressing toward a different version of WIn2k not just a fixed one games are starting to not work as well. So i would say go with Win2k if you have over 192mb of RAM otherwise you can still try 2k or go the 9x route. Whistler is nice to fool around in but it is far from being a total primary OS now.
-
yes but he is talking about end-users here i think. I agree though after going back to 2k i miss my whistler boottimes but i can live with the time it takes to boot because i dont reboot at all. So there is a need and not a need for fast boottimes but people just like whining about things even if the boot time was like power on GUI fullyusable people would still ***** because people are never fully satisfied.
-
hmm yeah what version of Winamp you running 2.72? Ive never had any problems with winamp besides a few plugin probs but other than that i never had any probs in win2k or in whistler.
-
so does zoiahHQ http://zoiah.m3dzone.com
-
zoiah HQ is the best place for your det driver needs. http://zoiah.m3dzone.com he has like all of the builds of dets from 3.xx up to 7.xx
-
no that would only fuk your system more.
