i had no problems installing the latest build of icq2000b off of download.com what kind of problems you having installer problems? program load probs?
-
yeah you can use Fdisk to delete the partion. Or take a magnet to the HD, any way will work as long as the HD is clean because once you install whistler you HAVE to format to put an older build of an OS on it. You can only go forward in any OS otherwise you have to format to put a backward build on.

see when you come on this board trying to say yeah I got beta 2 and you don't and people tell you the 1st time you dont and you come back and say you do then you get ragged on it not our fault. We are just people that have been around for a long time and have seen a long line of people coming along claiming things and then being wrong so we are just cynical for YOUR own good.

yeah im gonna have to agree jd on this one. If 2410 was beta 2 it wouldve said it also i find it hard to believe that nonags has b2 before whistler beta testers and MSDN
-
yeah it could be due to sound drivers or something because Q3 ran fine on my GF2 MX. Also get the 6.67 detonator drivers they are better than most other ones.
-
yeah running games at real time is BAD. Even games at high priority is BAD if you want to run a game run it above normal and thats about as high or else your system will quit on you. As for will they be faster than on 9x, well it depends on hardware and stuff generally a well tweaked NT 5 or NT 5.1 (whistler) box will run games faster than 9x will anyway and if it doesnt the difference is usually negligable for the stability and security you get from NT.

I dont think speed disk is the best i think diskeeper is a lot better than speed disk. Diskeeper 6 is a lot better than speed disk Speeddisk is ok for 9x machines but Diskeeper is the best for NT boxes.

last time i ran rogue spear it ran out of the box with no hacks. Since R6 and RS are on the same engine i dont know why you are trying to hack it to get it to work

The only problem i have seen so for with my LW3 is that surround mixer wont start sometimes so i have to reboot.
-
thats why you don't buy from creative. They only make good soundcards but their support is worse than anything. I usually just buy generic OEM hardware because it works better with the manufacturers drivers.

neo get a program call powerstrip. that will work to turn off agp4x

anyone have the problem with mouse movements being jerky in 2276, i tried playing CS and i move my mouse like a wee bit and it jerks 1/2 way across the screen.

what happens if you mix PC-133 & PC-100 on same system?
ThC 129 replied to whoisurdaddy's topic in Slack Space
the RAM should run at PC100 i think. I remember reading or hearing that RAM will only run as fast as the slowest chip -
yeah i havent made an audio CD in a long time so i dont know. CDrwin works fine so i will use that.
-
then it probably has to due with the overclocking. Have you tried underclocking the CPU and playing games?
-
if you want to get rid of the timelimit then just get a hacked setupreg.hiv file that will take the timelimit off. I don't know if Sp1 will install on a trial version.
-
well this sounds kinda stupid...but have you screwed all 4 screws into the HDs into the case. If they are all screwed in the they shouldnt vibrate??

FFS - wanting to dual boot, win2k is installed, how to insta
ThC 129 replied to DavidNewbould's topic in Software
use partion magic -
both the answerfile and SP1 CD topics are somewhere on this board. Just do a search for em.

titanic sucked dick. Who the **** would watch that goddamn ****, hell i would rather have my *** ****ed by a big black guy named bubba than watch that ****.
-
well the reason that hardware combonations are so bad in 2k is because driver support sucks. Most manufacturers still make their primary drivers 9x drivers and don't take the time to redo those drivers efficiently enough to make the hardware run right.
-
yeah you need a hex editor or a decompiler to accomplish that. So if your not good at that kind of thing i wouldnt recommend it.
-
no **** the GUI is gonna be slow. Becauase its BETA wtf, do you expect it to be its a beta OS man. There will be things that get f'ed up in it from now until it goes gold christ these aren't even RC's they are beta builds so its gonna take time to get the brand new gui working right.

if you have a bootable windows 98 CD and wish to go back to 98 then you just boot off the CD. The setup program will tell you that you can't use an NTFS partion and will format the drive if you tell it to.
-
i agree with the go back to 9x comment on a certain level, because people using NT boxes should know enough about the NT structure to be proficent in it, not master it but be proficient like at least knowing where stuff is. NT isn't a little kids platform like 9x/ME is so for the benefit of those users that aren't that familiar or good with windows then they shouldn't be using a NT OS. But to be as ignorant as to say the 9x comment is something different. All i ask is that people treat each other with respect and professionalism on these boards.
