Not a problem man. Im just trying to get as much tech support knowledge as possible before i get out into the working world and have to actually make money using said knowledge. -
this problem could be caused by a driver. Ive had it happen when i was using my old realmagic hollywood+ drivers.
-
nope it won't work because it thinks that the computer isnt ACPI compliant. And that things like standby and hibernate arent compatible so it won't shutdown automatcially.
-
well i know this isnt a solution but at least it will make things less painful when reinstalling. I recommend making an answer file for Win2k to get all the answers from (like computer name, ect) so it will run unattended and save you 15 mins there, also make a Win2k SP1 CD, so you don't have to install SP1 when you get windows back on. I know its not a solution but at least it will help speed up reformats.

post you system specs. And your computer and Joe Bob Jim's from down the street aren't the same usually not. So because it works on PC A doesnt mean it will work on PC B

ah ok. I think you need to load the promise ata-100 drivers if your going to install off of that drive when it asks for 3rd party RAID/SCSI controllers. Im not too sure but i think that could be the problem. -
yeahp if its not loading the openGL sub-system then its a openGL driver prob so just reload your drivers and see.
-
im not too sure i havent benchmarked D3d with any of the new drivers. Plus your running a DX 8 directX sub-system and no nvidia drivers are dx 8 compliant but the 7.xx series and so far there arent any stable drivers in that series.
-
yeah PQ lost & Found is good. I would also do a surface scan of the drive to see if there are any bad sectors.
-
actually steps 16 and 21 serve no purpose. Volume label can be anything you want hell my last whistler CD wasnt even labeled. As for in the boot option as long as its set to custom and the load sector is 4 then it will boot. The Microsoft Corporation crap isnt needed. Just informing you of some uneeded steps

ok so it installed fine and everything and now it won't boot into w2k? -
thats where you screwed up then. Load sector count is 4 load segments should be set to the default.

?? Twilight zone here. Doo doo doo doo doo. English please since most people here can only read and write in it, and well as you can notice the users' english is bad enough imagine them trying to figure out another language -
well i just go by what the fix list for SP2 had. I don't know since i don't have any drives that big and always format my drives NTFS

Will Windows 98 remain the best overall gaming OS or will ME

yeah the lease is to large companies that don't want to spend the money to get new software every year or 2 so they lease a liscense and MS keeps their software up to date right? I dunno that is how i would run it though if i owned M$ and have more money than GOD. -
read the post on making a bootable CD in the 'other' forum just leave the CD marker files on the CD. they are WEN51.B1 and WEN51IP.B1 other than that follow the instructions on there.
-
cool bits works fine as long as you have apply settings at startup checked.
-
just read now that its a bug with win2k that you can't change a drive to ntfs from fat32 if its bigger than 20 gigs. Fixed in SP2 though
-
delete the drives TOC and repartion it.
-
you need a program called aspichk from adaptec. I have NO clue where to find a win2k compatible aspi layer unless you e-mail me.
-
your using NT now your supposed to know how to do those kind of things.
-
well if i could find 3.8d i would try it but on goldenhawks english site there is only 3.8c and that works fine for me. Have you tried checking your ASPI layer?
