well im not going to give you a history lesson on the electoral college but as it was put briefly the main point is so a candidate has to campaign in all 50 states. Its also setup so if you do win the majority of big states (NY,Cali,Texas, whatnot) that you still can't win unless you actually win some of the smaller states too. Personally i don't give a rats ass who is the president because he doesnt really do much. The main factor in the country is still the economy which is run by greenspan not the POTUS. As long as the economy is fine and the government keeps their hands fairly clean off it then everything will be fine. Unless international Crisis or something hits. Either way you should care more about your congressmen and senators than the president. The biggest tragedy was Hillary Clinton winning the state of NY for senate. Please excuse me while i shoot myself in the head and then hang myself to make sure im dead.

you can change the IRQs if your system is set to standard PC not ACPI PC. If its set to ACPI then you can't, if its on Standard you can. HOWEVER, unless you know that that piece of hardware will work on the IRQ you want to put it on then do it otherwise leave it alone becuase you can FUBAR your whole system.

Im gonna have to agree with jdulmage, except on the flavor of whistler. I like and use professional because of IIS included in it. The FTP server for IIS is top notch and the best one ive used for a while now. Also if your going the SMP route then Pro is better. Only minus i have with whistler is that your going to need at least 128 megs (probably 192 or more) of RAM. Otherwise whistler is is going to be the best for everything. Its already starting to work it way up the king of OSes ladder and its only beta 1 right now.

i would check with the realmagic tech support or check their newsgroups. They are pretty good when it comes to supporting their products.

i listen to Rave music when im on my computer. Mostly trance because house sucks. My favorite DJ to listen to is probably seb fontaine or digweed.

get a cracked setupreg.hiv and resintall using that file.

i think this is caused by the refresh rate. Sadly you can't change the refresh rate on a TV

i have an idea next time you want to get your topic answered don't post it in every forum. I read it in apps, then it was in games, and now its in hardware. This is not the way to getting your question answered.

if you really want a CD-key im sure i can throw some letters and numbers together and call it a CD-key and make you go crazy trying to find out where to put it in. =P
-
you can try that but i don't know if it will work. From what ive heard only a complete reinstall of your OS will work.

sounds like a driver issue. I had a similar problem with the crappy nv7.17 drivers then put on 6.47 and it was fine. So try changing your vid card drivers and that might help.

he didnt say 6.31 he said 6.34 WHQL certified. Get em at http://zoiah.m3dzone.com

very nice review. Well written and easy to read without a lot of 'techno babble' that you find in a lot of reviews.

anyone having trouble getting movies to play using DVD station in whistler beta 1 using the RMHP? I keep on getting an MCI error or a message saying that the driver is in use. Odd thing is that it works fine in 2257 ;( [This message has been edited by ThC 129 (edited 11 November 2000).]

Has Win2k pro as fast as Win98 now for games? can anyone sup
ThC 129 replied to pr-man's topic in Games
no Win2k isnt as fast as win98 for games I dont think. It might be faster now that DX 8 is out but then that depends on DX 8 optimised drivers. Either way no matter what people say Win2k isnt designed for games. Yes it can play them but it doesnt mean it will be as fast as an OS designed to run them like Whistler is (don't even bother using a 9x line product because they are being phased out anyway). Anyway if you can get a copy of whistler use that otherwise use 2k. -
i know a guy with 2 boxes one has a GF2 ultra the other has a V5, he likes the GF2 ultra more because of its openGL performance and better frame rates. I personally like the FSAA on my Geforce 2 MX and i havent seen image quality this good at all. So people that say FSAA doesnt make a diff are dead ass wrong.

7.17 +dx8 +whistler = good. Great performance no lockups
-
yes its a fact that FAT32 is slower than NTFS5. So convert the drive to NTFS and it should be faster

check the links in apps on the official versions. DosFreak put up links to about every version in every language

i would say sygate or something like winroute.

boot.ini is the file that controls the booting. Its a hidden file on your root directory on your root drive. (C:\) You might have to uncheck hide protected system files in windows 2000 to get it to show up.
