HOPEFULLY (this is probably asking too much) CL will fix this issue when LW4 is released sometime in the next 20 years...but probably not knowing CL

Ive read the unattended.doc and used the setupmgr from the resource kit, but they really dont give me all the answers to the questions that are asked. Is there any place to find a more complete documentation on this subject?

cool now i can feel comfortable getting an athlon/duron system when it comes time to upgrade the lockup issue was keeping me from upgrading.

try getting the VIA patch for win2k (on the front page someplace) thats the only solution i can give ya im sure some of these people here know more about VIA chipsets than i do.

man your not a computer pro unless you can format and get your system back up in less than 2 hours (sorry i have a slow HD). I can backup, format partition and install an OS and get most of my major programs on in 2 hours.

im a big RTS fan, once you guys get it throw up a review of it because i was going to get Tiberium Sun but the reviews werent so hot. I liked the original RA so if this one is any good i might consider getting it.

well 1st check startmenu\startup and remove those programs and see, then check the registry the keys are CurrentUser\Microsoft\Windows\Run and \RunOnce i think the same key is in localmachine too so check em both.

yes the classic look was still in there, im not sure how the skinning will be handled but if all there is is the retarded themes in it now i will just s.hitcan em. I run whatever i can find leaked, out of the 3 builds ive use 2 have been pro 1 has been personal. Once it hits beta you will see more versions being available for download to people that know where to find em.

because i dont need to block a whole port, i just need to filter an address but leave the port alone.

i use only whistler now. I have 2 installs on both my HDs because 2276 has some problems with my mouse. I like whistler because its faster than windows 2000 and just as stable too. Ive had no hardware problems to speak of and the only thing that doesnt work is a/v autoprotection but i dont download stuff that would be infected anyway. There is a built in firewall included in whistler and updates are automatic also making it better in that sense. Whistler is also being written to run games better so if you play games i would use it.

i know about 5 or 6 people that all say it doesnt work. Ive contacted mplayer support and they said it won't ever work well in NT.

if the drives are FAT32 just use your win98 CD to boot into DOS and delete it from there.

what i mean by 'compatability mode' is in Whistler 2276+ there is a option to run a program in compatability mode. Much like apcompat does except its integrated to run in 'Windows NT4' or 'Windows 95' mode and can be designated which to run in a shortcut for the program. Latest build of Whistler is 2287 or thats the latest ive seen screen shots of. -
mplayer sucks. It will never work right with NT systemss i hate it. You CAN type you just have to hold down the scroll bar to see your text like your scrolling through text because for some gay reason autoscroll doesnt work. Then to top it off the text will eventually just disappear and you have to restart the software.

cdrwin exclusively. Check out some of the FAQs floating around. Ive never had a problem using the cabs ive gotten. i burn onto cdrw all the time no problem using the method described in the FAQ using CDRWIN.

latest leaked it 2276 latest known version is 2287+ (build # changes everyday) I run 2257 personal and 2276 Professional on my HDs until beta 1 is out.

try using the boottable for w2k CDs off one of those sites that tells you how to make a bootable win2k CD. Otherwise if anyone knows how to extract the bootsector off a win98 CD i will do that and send you a copy.
-
are you trying to install whistler from within windows?? Ive talked to people with problems trying to do that. Best way is to make a bootable CD using one of the many FAQs on doing it (search for bootable 2k cd or some**** on here and you will find a guide), and install from a CD boot. I do that with all my whistler installs and they work fine.

buy a errmmm a Pentium 1. Yeah thats it. IMO Intel will forever be playing catch-up even once the p4 gets released because nobody in their right mind is going to pay for RDRAM because its expensive and sucks. So go AMD because they are cheap, and can be overclocked like a sunnuva*****.

well explain how DX performance kicks win2k's ass in whistler but yet they are using the same version, well Whistler uses DX 8 beta but from performance on 2k with DX 8 it doesnt even compare at times. It could just be the way DX is tweaked in 2k compared to whistler. 9x doesnt come close to whistlers benchmarks in Direct X.

use driveimage 4 its better than ghost.

whistler has a compatibility option to run in NT mode or 9x mode. So that is a plus. Also as someone said by time whistler ships there will be more NT written software. There were a lot of vendors that refused to support NT because its harder to write NT code, but they said because 2k isnt a "consumer" OS. Now we see more and more consumers going to W2k, and with the release of whistler soon you will have a consumer NT. So vendors not supporting the NT platform will soon find themselves adjusting their roadmaps for products or will be asking you 'do you want fries with that' because they will be out of buisness -
should read the forum more. Its been known that WMP 7 f-s up your windows config for a long time.
