great idea. Though, i hope that Lucas Arts lets raven handle the support of the game this time, unlike they did with Jedi Outcast. In JO, the game was good until the 1.03 patch, then Lucas Arts attempted to balance the game out with the 1.04 patch which was mildly better. Then they dropped all support for it. If you look at Soldier of Fortune II by comparision, a game released by the same people (minus Lucas), the game is almost a year old now and they still support it with new maps, weapons, and tweaks. Or if you want the best case in point of support you have half-life, which is mainly dead besides Counter-Strike yet they continue to improve the gameplay for those players. So im not trying to rain on the parade but i get disenfranchised, when i hear about an excellent game only to see it age within the few months its released due to lack of support.

why??? Why do people insist on using server OSs for gaming. Its like me saying yeah you know this Sun SPARC station would make a great box for Q3a. Im not trying to bash on anyone but i mean, why spend ALL the time editing the OS to dumb it down from a server OS to a workstation OS, when you can just get the workstation OS. IMO, server OSs needed to stay that way. Though everyone is entitled to do what they want, so if you want to spend 15-20 minutes or more after install to enable and disable things go right ahead. I will just install my nForce and ATi drivers and get on with my gaming!!

yeah i have heard to stay away from IBM desktop drives. Their laptop drives are still very good though, so dont let their poor desktop drives persuade you from their laptop drives.

my BIOS on my A7n8x can do that. I dont know about windows programs though. I know Tweak now Power Pack or one of those utils you can set an auto shut-down, or there is probably a command to do it. So use that then use the auto on that most BIOS options have and you should be good.

Situation: I had a WD HD just like this one, it decided to crap out on me, so instead of waiting on the RMA I bought a 120gb Maxtor w/ 8mb Cache ATA/133. I already have another WD HD an 80gb ATA/100 7200 RPM (only 2mb cache), so I am stuck with an extra hard drive. Drive will be shipped VIA chineese food delivery boy on a bike, so it might take a while but hey at least you will get some noodles too!!

I have an A7N8X Deluxe. It comes with nVidia 10/100 and 3COM Gigabit LAN. I have seen no performance hits what so ever. You can disable one or both in the BIOS aswell.

I recently got a Radeon 9500 pro, so i am looking to get rid of this card. It is brand new, just got it in december. This card retails for around $200. I am selling it for around $100 even and i will pay the shipping. That is pretty much the same price i bought it for, after rebates and all. Card Specs: AGP: 4x RAM: 128mb Clock: 275 RAM: 300 Im not too sure on the clock and ram frequencies but i think they are pretty close to that. It is a good card and for that price you cant go wrong. Most GF 4 MX cards sell for that much. So your getting a card that is waaayy better than the MX for around the same price.

if you are willing to shell out the close to $400 if not more dollars for a video card i would go with the 9800. Though right now the best deal going is when they drop the price of the 9700 Pro's. Then use Soft 9x00 to mod the card to a 9800. After the price drop of the 9700pro it will be about $275-300 maybe a little less. So hell if your worried about price go with the 9700pro once the 98's come out. Also ATI has a suprise up their sleeve for us next month with the catalyst 3.3 coming out. They said that when making drivers for the 9800 they found a way to increase the performance of the cards. No speculation on to what degree but sounds like a good deal to me!!

Well this is the first time i have had this happen but it gets me mad none the less. I bought a Sony 48x24x48 CD-RW at best buy and was eligable for a $20 mail in rebate. The rebate is good for a drive purchased from 1/10/03 until 03/31/03. The rebate has to be mailed by 04/30/03. Well it is March 15th today and i get a reply card that says it was not postmarked in time. Last time i checked April 30th is still over 1 month away. So needless to say I am going to get to the bottom of this. I am going to get my $20 one way or another.

my next upgrade after i get a processor and a set of speakers is going to be a DVD-RW or is that DVD+RW whatever.. i have heard the "-" standard is better. Though why cant they just agree on one darn format >:| ;(

Im looking to get a new mobo processor and ram. Im not going to get a VIA chipset because THEY SUCK. I like intel but im not rich so i can't afford a p4 with hyperthreading and RD800 memory. Anyway which board is better the Asus A7N8X or Abit NF7 I have seen a lot of people using the Asus board, I have owned Asus and Abit boards and they both perform great for me. So what is the preference of people around here??

Im trying to figure out if i have a bottle neck with my bus system. I have a Radeon 9500 Pro, running @ AGP 4x, a Maxtor 7200RPM 120gb HD with 8mb cache and a T-bird running @ 1.33x10.5, all on a Abit Kt7a. The problem is that with the card running @ 290 core and 300 memory I am not getting good framerates. Like around 30 or more, this is in Tribes 2, In SoF2 I get around the same maybe 35-40 outdoors and around 50-100+ inside. Im trying to figure out where the bottleneck is, in the southside bus, the AGP bus or the northside bus. My system posts around 8390points in 3dmark 2001 SE. Is this normal or do i have a bottle neck someplace??

This rebate is through sony not Best Buy. I called em today and they appologized for their F-up.

ATI says the next version of their catalyst drivers 3.3 will have more performance gains in them. They said that they are commited to brining users Solid Stable Drivers that still perform well. Also the 9700 prices will be droping around $100 USD, so those cards are going to be FLYING off of shelves at that price. At the rate nVidia is losing vendors for their graphics cards, looks like they might have to start selling reference boards soon. That is what kept ATI alive.

many people do not know this but DO NOT put a WD and a Maxtor drive on the same channel. The WD drive has error correction in it and the maxtor drive does not. So eventually when you try to write to the drive you will get data corruption. I dont know if this is related to your problem but it is an FYI that a lot of people dont knwo about.

you can try using rivaTuner. That is what I use to change my 1024x768 @ 100Hz to 85Hz. You can set low level and driver level refresh rate overriding. www.guru3d.com is where you can get the program at. It should work.

do a search this topic has been covered numberous times. If ME is working correctly then just do a search for dual booting.

if you ran a mouse across a desksurface and then across a ratpadz you would see why the ratpadz is better.
