NTFS is native to NT as its file system. NTFS is also more secure and will allow compression. NTFS is also more stable than FAT. Only drawback is that if you boot to DOS using a boot disk you can't read your drives.

I never cared for CDR-Win much. I use fireburner to burn bin/cue isos, and adaptec for mostly everything else. Its either your ASPI drivers or just a crappy keygen.

I have both though i havent bothered installing ME and probably never will. why? One acronym BSOD, I havent had any in w2k except for stupid creative crap drivers that don't want to uninstall. Yes its true ME will run more games than 2k, but that will start to be untrue once DX 8 and Windows 2k SP1 are released. Also as others have mentioned ME is the last 9x core, so why run out to buy it when you will have to go through the pains of upgrading a 9x OS to a NT based OS which includes fdisking, formatting, getting all new drivers, new BIOS updates, and what not when you can put on 2k and go through probably what will be a less stressfull upgrade process. In the ME defense, most novice system users wouldnt be comfortable with the many features of a NT based OS.

yeah WHQL certification is so much more of a relief. Now Im sure they came from creative , and not the evil bizzaro creative that trys releasing live!ware behind creatives back . WHQL cert is retarded, the drivers work reguardless WHQL cert or not look at nvidia's drivers they dont have it and they work fine.
-
actually they are not beta drivers just for some reason Nvidia just puts up certain versions on their site. Dont jump down people's throats either

from my clan's pvt msg board: OK, I suggest you keep this message for future refernces. First, make sure you have a system for use for routing, NAT (network address translation), and DHCP (Dynamic host Configuration Protocol) available. This system should have 2 nics installed. It can be used as a games server also if you want. Install Windows NT 4 or 2k as a stand alone server. Install WINS, DNS (if necessary). Do not install DHCP Server. Install SP6a (for nt4 if using it). Set up one nic as the "external network" nic. Set it up as normal w/ IP, DNS, Gateway etc as supplied from you IP. Set up the second nic for the internal network. Use 192.168.10.1/255.255.255.0 as the IP/Subnet. No gateway is needed here. Download WINROUTE PRO from www.winroute.com. Install Winroute. Set up the "external" to perform NAT on the traffic going through it but to exclude itself from NAT. Set up Winroutes DHCP server. Set the DNS to the ISP dns, Gateway to 192.168.10.1 ("internal" nic), Wins to 192.168.10.1, Remove lease time if not wanted. set scope to start at 192.168.10.100 to .200. On all client workstations, set for DHCP, use DHCP for Wins, not gateway, no DNS. Finally, read Winroutes directions before asking me for help. The ip address configuration is what I persnally prefer to use. For Nics, use do not use 2 of the same model, it leads to confusion. I use a DLink 10BaseT for the "external" and a DLink 10/100 for Internal. Also, if all the machine is doing is NAT/DHCP (thats all the machine at blue's did) and possible SMTP (Winroute has a SMTP service in it), a low end machine can be used. The machine used at Blue's LAN was a P60 (yes, 60mhz) w/ 48 megs of ram.

Liveware 3.0 for Windows2000: Where the hell is it?
ThC 129 replied to Mondain98's topic in Hardware
Yeah Im wating for the major game makers to start switching to linux...linux is a great server OS, but lacks a lot of the things that NT has such as driver support. Plus linux is free wuhoo!! Not to mention choice of GUIs. Linux is a great OS I just hope that support for it starts growing faster. -
Liveware 3.0 for Windows2000: Where the hell is it?

actually Win2K being a business product is a load of crap. Why? Because Windows Whistler is based on WinNT 5, and Windows ME is just a joke because they didnt want to release a A service pack 1 for windows 98 so they just made a new OS to make more money. If Windows NT platform wasnt going to be made for gaming they wouldn't base Windows Whistler off NT 5 they wouldn't scrap the whole 9x line if NT 5 wasnt going to be made for gaming. They wouldn't put in full Dx media support if multimedia devices such as DVD players, video capture cards, digital cameras, and other things if it was "just for businesses". Companies that put out NT5 products have a greater advantage when 1 year from now Windows Whistler hits the shelves. What are they gonna do then?? Say this is just a everything OS game, apps, business apps. multimedia things and not support it? Failure to support NT 5 will hurt companies in the long run. Now drivers, you say what company hasn't released drivers that aren't on time..I can name plenty Nvidia for one, RealMagic, MS, and plenty of others. Creative makes good products but they are always lax on drivers for NT systems. -
a lot of people's problems could be related to AGP drivers, BIOS revisions and the voltage on the board. If the card isnt getting the right voltage then that could be reason for the freezes. Plus Win2k is a lot more picky about the afformentioned items.

flash runs fine for me using a TNT 5.25 det drivers

Q19. Is there going to be a "Live!Ware 3.0 for Windows
ThC 129 replied to billimek's topic in Hardware
You havent heard they changed the release date to "when hell freezes over" -
LW for win2k does have EAX support creative lied and said it did when it does not.
-
thats a trade secret we cant tell ya , all the links ive had are dead. As for SP1 Ive heard it should be out this month DX 8 im not sure when the release for it is.
-
they said mid june. Though i dont know if they will renig on it or not.
-
I recommend a program called winroute, it will do everything you want it to, port mapping, NAT, other things. As for remotley anywhere Ive found setting it on higher ports 4500 for example work fine when your behind a firewall.
-
yeah those stupid f**kin accessablilty options piss me off to no end.
-
yeah i have no probs running HL on my Voodoo 2 in openGL, Ive tried D3D but its always to friggen dark and CS is dark enough as is, when i run it in D3D i almost always have to buy NVGs and turn up my monitor brightness. But I have had no probs running anything in win2k i must be lucky
-
You will see a more stable windows 2k once SP1 is out. I have the beta on my system and a lot of the freezes from games are gone now. Plus Im running DX 8 and its rock solid. Windows ME is the last of the 9x kernals so no matter what. Unless you can get software for free use 2k, otherwise use both since HD's are coming up in size and down in price.

No Win2k comes with DX7a since build 2194
