If you shutdown the computer to hibernate it restores it to the state it was in before shutdown so therefore it will go back into Win2K and not 98 the only way to aviod this is to shutdown normally

I have heard that a lot of the versions that were released by warez groups are **** too. It sounds like some crappy group tried making a name for themselves by scoring a release of Win2K but it might be corrupt.
-
Make sure you go on undernet because thats where our chan is =).

Hey Mr Thick dick. You obviously didnt do something right because guess what I HAVE SOUND AND YOU DONT AHHAHAHAAH. Maybe if you didnt insult people on this forum then they would help you. Since you feel it is your duty to say people are full of **** then maybe you should reconsider being a member of this forum. Dont try coming to the IRC chan either because we wont help you.

Yah byron I think they need to make the search link a little bit bigger maybe take up the whole top 1/2 of the screen and people will notice it.
-
Cool. Man good idea. Yes most of the people in the Windows2000 channels on Efnet are people that dont have much patenice for people that are having problems.

Would anyone know where I might be able to sample a copy of the non-shareware version of NAV2K for Win2K
-
I think you will have to find a version of softice that works specfically for win2k. Thats why there aren't many cracks that are made to work with NT...I wouldn't know anything about warez and cracking and all the stuff though of course [This message has been edited by ThC 129 (edited 10 January 2000).]

Well if you dont like certain directories in Caps. There is an uption under the folder options to not allow all caps for folder names. One of my irks is that my notepad wont start maxamized like I would like it. Anyone know how to save the setting so it will start maxamized

Well when I 1st installed the drivers, it took me about 3 or 4 maybe more times to get it working. Well after I got build 2195 and since I could do it the 1st try without messing it up I reformatted my system and reinstalled everything using the instructions from my head and now they are fine and dont cause my computer to get a blue screen of death whenever I reboot. PC Config Mobo:asus piib processor ii 400 ram:128 megs 1 single dimm hd's:10 gig maxtor (primary) & 10 gig WD OS:Windows 2K build 2195 with time crack [This message has been edited by ThC 129 (edited 09 January 2000).] [This message has been edited by ThC 129 (edited 09 January 2000).]

I have had roguespear run fine with the install and the 2.5 patch.
-
I have to agree with Ekstreme. Most of the problems are hardware related. "But the fact, that the latest games do not run makes me starting to believe, that maybe Microsoft doesn't want Win2000 to become a gaming OS." Latest games dont work, I have a voodoo 2 and a TNT. I can run Unreal Tournement fine. I can run Half-Life fine. I can run RogueSpear fine. I can run tribes fine. I will say this pretty much any game that gamespy supports (which is most the "latest" games) will run on Win2K.

Hmm everyone complains about speed decreases with live!ware. I havent had any change in the speed of my box. besides a little bit at startup. Im running 2195 and Live!ware 3 CD drivers
-
It seems that M$ is probably going to scrap the millenium project and just going to release a service pack for 98 instead. These are rumors but a lot of people have been saying it. Personally I think Millenium is just a waste of time anyway

To get a working openGL driver for win2k you need to use the openGL from the 3.53 NT drivers.
-
Well trooper make sure you have 3 things done. #1. Make sure in devicemaanger that it says standard PC and you have IRQ steering disabled. If it doesnt then select update driver hit the list know drivers button and then hit the button that says show all devices and then select standard PC and reboot. #2. Make sure that do not map through this device is checked under the SB Live! properties. #3. Make sure you are using the Nov '99 drivers or the drivers off the live!ware 3 CD As for EAX. I dont think EAX will work until the new version of Live!Ware comes out

Yah. I have had the same problems with 3.8 burning coasters damn good thing I always burn to CD-RWs 1st. If you want to burn Bin/Cue ISOs then get a program called fireburner. You can also use binchunker to convert the bin/cue ISO to regualr ISO format.
-
Im not sure I guess you could always try it and see. Trial and error is how I find most of my problems out.
-
I was never a big fan of using Direct CD. I can run the version off the EZ CD 4 disk fine also. In my opinion EZ CD creator 3 isnt a very good burning program becuase I had the joy of having it burn about 20 coasters. I recommend using Fireburner or CDRwin

Yes but enabling guest on a system isnt exactly the safest thing to do on a network. Other than what SHS said there isnt any other way to get it to do what you would like without setting logins and passwords

Yah paying for internet time does suck. Plus you guys dont even get the added advantage of cable or xDSL. As many people have said the only versions that work are the 16 bit versions, and with how high and mighty AOL is they probably wont come out with a version for win2k because its not a "consumer" os. Looks like you are SOL.
-
The problem lies not with Win2k but driectX 7 and win2k. It is direct input. The only way to fix this is get DX 7a (which is in 2194 and higher). I think if you reformat and install 2195 it will fix this problem. Im running build 2195 and havent had this problem yet. It did happen when I was playing UT, Tribes and a few other games in RC 3. So you need to get DirectX 7a and this will fix the problem.
-
I have no problem running tribes in glide with my Voodoo 2. Im using the NT 4 and DX 7 drivers for it. The problem is attributed to drivers, though Im not sure for what card. Try getting the latest drivers for each card. you can get them at win2kbox.8m.com

I have a friend with a DV 770. He tried the det drivers and said that his performance was actually worse than it was with the Diamond drivers. I have an OEM TNT (I dont buy retail because I dont need a colorful box that costs me another 40-50 dollars) and the det drivers I have tried all work fine for me. Im thinking that it is the Diamond cards that dont like the drivers. DMM was never high on my list of great companies either after getting a RIO and having it break a week later. Im still waiting for them to give me a RMA number.

Well the thing is that AOL wasnt desgined to be used in NT because AOL isnt for power users or people that know how to use a computer. AOL is for people that dont know much about the internet and need the friendliness of a simple interface. You know what the say simple things for simple users
