The reason why the Audigy doesn't work in 24 bit mode with the MAD plugin is simple. The audigy only works at 24 bit on the EXTERNAL DACs, all calculations are still done at 16 bit internally. Only the DACs are at 24bits... pretty much a cop out with the way creative is crapping on about '24bit' resolution especially when the audigy doesn't even do 24 bit! To recap only the DACs on the audigy are 24bit NOT the audigy chip itselft. All calculations are performed at 16 bit, hence the mad plugin won't work... Get a Delta DIO or something if you want true 24bit precision

yeah, saying something is lame is definitely not constructive. I also hate OS worshipping freaks, you know the ones who say their OS is the be all and end all. I use Suse Linux 7.1 Pro and Win XP at home and I LIKE BOTH OF THEM. I also have BeOS 5 and QNX and OS/2 Warp. I have used many OS and they all have good and bad points, hell I even like Mac OS. What I am saying is that no OS is the best overall, it maybe the best for you but that doesn't mean anyone who says other wise is an idiot, unless they say something is lame etc. Wow what a rant!

G'day all I just have to say this after reading all the flame wars on this board. I have tried XP 2428 and yes I do like it. I agree with jdulmage that XP has a lot of nice improvements over 2K. It is in my experience faster than 2K in most areas. But just because somebody disagrees with us in the forums doesn't mean he should be beaten to a pulp by a bunch of facist faced bully boys If some one wants to be a jerk let them. Why should we act like jerks by telling them so like a jerk? Please ppl try not to get too upset because someone has a different opinion than you. I don't wanna sound like I am lecturing you all but I just have had enough of the "you suck.. no you suck" dialogue which is dominating the forums. Like I said there are some drongos and silly buggers out there doesn't mean we have to act like ones in reply to them. They don't need anyhelp they're perfectly good drongos by themselves.

Yeah, i know its been metioned millions of times, but is there a fix? Myself and all my mates have it we have all different hardware and different mice(logitech,ms, ms intelli explorer) and in diff keyboards (usb,ps2). It happens in Rogue Spear where the keys and mouse buttons stick heaps AVP GOLD(and AVP) only the mouse buttons stick Nox (without new patch, with new patch is fine) Mouse buttons I wouldn't need 98 if it weren't for this sticky crap. I tried optimising for background services, making the mouse ps2 instead of usb, and upping the mouse acceleration and speed. None work so does anyone have a fix or know if MS is making one, or if MS even gives a ****

Unfortunately even with the new patches and win2k updates i found the mouse still stuck. win2k is great for networking (business Unis etc) but when it comes to the crunch it is not the most suitable os for games. I know some immature wanker is gonna flame me for this, but its a fact. You may get all your games to work, thats good for you. All the tests i have done between a win98 and win2k have found win98 significantly faster with MOST games than win2k. Look at the other sites doing the tests they came to the same conclusion. I'll stick with win98 for games and win2k for work, after all it is a workstation os and a workstation being where you work not play games.

I have the exact same problem. You'll be walking around in UT fine then you'll start firing and sometimes it will keep firing until you press the mouse button again. I have 2183 and a voodoo3

I have Voodoo3 I have not installed LW3 as I read somewhere on the forums it can cause trouble with Q3a. UT and Q3A run great! But when I exit them my desktop is corrupted. The only way to fix it is to restart. I have tried the drivers at Win2kBox and Chameleons drivers both do the same thing. I swapped the ICD in both of them for the new one. (Note this didn't cause the problem). If I use 3dfx official NT drivers and the new ICD there is no problems, but of course, no d3d with those ideas. Any ideas anyone? BTW I search the forumns before I post questions. So no "your lazy search the forums" or smart arse responses please!

I have 2183 voodoo 3 an sblive. I have installed lw3 using directions on site works great. When i run Half life (i have eax ticked in audio options) when you go into the game it says No Directsound Driver Found But the sound works fine but I can't hear the EAX it sounds like it's running without it any way to fix it???

Ahh Rogue, Could you tell me exactly how you got LW3 to work under 2128? I have tried extracting all the lwlib* things but there is no setup in them. Could you please tell me which one to extract. I know you are probably sick of this problem. But I'd really appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks SHS; I copied those files like you said and it worked! but UT and q3a stuff up when you extit them the screen goes all weird - shrinks really small and is all corrupted. Any ideas?

Thanks for the help. I'll try those files. Sorr about lw3 thing, I only just finished searching the entire forumn. So there is no way to get EAX working in games then? Such as EAX in Half Life???

I have win2k RC2 Build 2128 and a voodoo3 2000 AGP and an sb live. I followed anthony toste liveware 3 instructions. But i get to the point of running LW3 setup and it uncompresses everything and goes to install and then nothing happens. I checked Task manager and nothing was running. I have followed his instructions to the letter. My voodoo3 will not work properly. I have tried anthony toste directions but I don't have the build 2114? files he refers to. I have tried the drivers from win2k box and chameleons win2k site but things go screwy. I can play glide opengl and direct3d with them. Bu\t when I quit a glide or opengl app the desktop shrinks to about 1/6 size and is all screwy I have to reset to get it back. This is very annoying. I ran Half Life in direct 3d but when playing it studders, the graphics move smooth then stop then move smooth then stop etc. When I go to the menus from within Half Life I get blank black screen and I have to use Task Manager to get out. I Tried the opengl ICD with it and it says my opengl driver doesn't support the right mode. I have not tried the minigl yet though. I'd like to get my voodoo3 working with glide opengl and direct3d properly and to install Liveware 3 for my live so i can have EAX. Any help would be appreciated. Remember I only have RC2 2128 so please don't refer to files I don't have unless you can give them to me thanks. I am about to go insane!!
