http://www.sblive.com/liveware/w2kfaq.html I quote.. Q10. When can I download Creative's Windows 2000 drivers for my Sound Blaster Live!? Creative will fully support Windows 2000 for the Sound Blaster Live! through a software package called Live!Ware for Windows 2000update. This software package will be released Mid-March, 2000

1) See the inf directory if exist OEMx.INF and OEMx.PNF files (reffered to Xtremecard ). Save these files in a safe place Nope - these dont exist in my inf directory. What now? 2) Uninstall (if installed the card) from device manage. Did that. 3) Copy DLLs files to the system32 directory Which dll's ? 4) Copy DRV file to the drivers directory Which drv file ? Am I supposed to be trying the 98 or NT Xtreme software ? Has anyone else got this card to capture video under Win 2K ? 5) Check if OEMx.inf & OEMx.pnf files exist in the inf directory 6) Reboot and when the system recognize again the card load the drivers from the "multimedia , Unkmown, AIMS" 7) If the problem continue try another PCI slot

I recently upgraded my pc to a Matrox 400, and gave my Viper 550 AGP to the missus. The 550 was working perfectly in my 2000 Pro pc. I formatted her drive, installed 2195 and it loaded with 16 colours. On querying the display adaptor config, it recognised the 550, but said the resources were being used by the PII Processor to AGP Controller. I have tried everything - uninstalling disabling the PII Processor, uninstalling and disabling the Viper 550 - in various orders. If I disable the Processor it will then recognise the 550 with no clashes, But it needs the PII Processor enabled in order to function. If I then try enable the Processor it says it cannot due to a lack of resources - in other words it insists on using the same address as the Viper 550. I have tried changing the CMOS to Plug and Play - no joy. I know this card will work on Win2000 so what could the problem be and is there any solution?

Thanks to all. Woke up this morning and tried the quickest solution first. Lo and behold one cmos setting did the trick - and perhaps moving the card to another slot would have as well. What puzzles me though - why do you need tell the cmos to allocate an irq for pci vga, ....when the graphics card is AGP ?
-
Thanks, I'll try that - the missus has a bare-bones pc so the only card apart from the AGP Viper 550 is a PCI network card.

24 hours? Try 24 days. Win2k is solid as a solid thing with a special reason to be solid.

Have updated wih the new .inf file. How do I get the trendy Mixer back again - this horrible grey one doesnt do it for me.

Brilliant fix!! You are the man. One more time... Creative this is yet another big one in the eye for you. Shame.

I don't get the argument that has been posted here. Because Creative doesn't supply drivers we must stop moaning or write our own? That is a ridiculous proposal. Agreed, perhaps on the Platinum box it says Win 98 or NT4 - but the attitude of Creative has been nothing short of contempt. Why has Matrox for instance gone to the trouble of releasing Beta drivers for their products which also were not released with Win2k-ready on the box. Customer service? Granted - the drivers are not yet perfect but at least one is grateful for an attempt to provide an interim solution. I wonder what Creatives angle is going to be when 2 months down the road they finally condescend to providing Win2k support and we discover their drivers are in fact not quite 100% bug-free, because that is their excuse for not having them ready. Creative needs to look at the history of arrogance in the IT game.....

Seems a bit Draconian? Surely giving a reply would be in order - now you've made me curious as well. -
My Viper 550 gives me a blue screen memory dump, so....sigh, I must be an idiot too.

Ack!! Screwed up the last post. I have read a zillion forums looking for an answer and this is the first which says it will not work on 2128. Anything above this version is RC3 isn't it? Creative...pull finger and give us some proper user-friendly drivers pretty please. [This message has been edited by dlever (edited 07 December 1999).]
