    nvidia drivers for 2465

Never ran across this in 2462 where I used the 10.4 nvidia drivers for my gf2 mx 400 with absolutely no problems at all. However, in 2465 it shows up as only having 16 megs of ram and in games like sacrifice which ran perfectly in 2462....its will barely run at all. So does anyone have or know which of the myriad of nvidia drivers out there is THE one to use with this build yet?

How many here have had problems with a Via chipset?

You couldn't pay me enough $$$ to deal with another via made MB. My BX chipsets here at the house have NEVER EVER given me a bit of trouble. But EVERY time I have tried a via board (just last month with a new box for the wife no less) they have caused me nothing but trouble.

    nvidia drivers for 2465

Yeah they all work great. I finally figured out what the deal was with all my video ram not being seen. When I reboot the box, my MB won't always see all the ram. One boot it will show up as a 16 meg card, the next a 32 or a 16 again and then a 64...I think my MB needs to be upgraded to something a touch newer...one with actual 4x agp and can still use this 512 megs of pc100 ram I have now and that's NOT a VIA chipset.

Why would you edit my msg like that and make it look, on the surface like I was complaining about a post when I wasn't at all...sheesh

    ooohhhh yeah 2469

What is up with that? I didn't ask anyone for anything specifically. I didn't ask for a link to any software. I did what's been done in here (to my understanding without any complaint) more times than I can count. Sheesh, what a waste of good energy hehehe

Do a clean install. It just seems to work better that way for all M$'s products.

I don't mean to piss everyone off..........

I can already see a drop in the flaming. I don't post a lot because I feel there are many in here who know way more than me about Win2k and XP and I have learned a great deal from 99% of the folks that post in here. All I ever learned from the now banned (thank you thank you thank you) person in question was how to be arrogant and rude. Just my 2 cents worth. peace

    Whistler Beta 2 + G400 + OpenGl = 60 Hz

a Gf2 mx 400 with 64 megs of ram that seemed to install just perfectly. All ram was being seen via the native driver XP installed. A few hours later I went to play Sacrifice and wanted to make sure of the driver that was installed and lo, what was showing 64 megs after 1st boot was now showing only 16!!! I messed with drivers for a few hours and then the new 12--whatevers came out and they seem to do the trick even though those drivers only show my vid card as having 32 megs instead of 64. With a beta OS all kinds of stuff can happen I guess hehehehe In any case, the OS) is rockin now and all games (thus far) seem to be jammin'

Figured I would do the honors....

makes sense to me the whole concept is both insulting and ridiculous to me anyway.

Figured I would do the honors....

Honestly, I don't see how they can enforce such a concept. If I buy their software (and when Whistler is finished I plan on buying it) then I should, by right be able to put it on as many computers in my home as I wish. I paid for it, didn't I? Besides, does this mean if you upgrade to a new Hard drive you are gonna have to go out and buy a new copy of Whistler??? If they are dumb and arrogant enough to do something like that for home users, I hope that whole deal is cracked into dust! Hey M$, read this and realize, you are NOT gonna tell us what we can and can't do with our puters once we give you our $$$$ for your product. Okay, my rant is ended hehehehe

As I understand it, there are already cracks out for this so I'm not gonna sweat it that much

    NTFS

Yep you can. You will just need to make some boot floppies unless you have a bootable CD of the OS.

    Curious

A few weeks ago I gave beta 1 a nice whirl and was, for the most part, VERY impressed. I was running a Celeron 333 overclocked to 500 at the time and my box had (still has in fact) 256 megs of ram. My big complaint at the time was the larger amount of ram the OS used over win2k. Between 90 and 98 megs of ram was in use after each reboot before ever starting a single program. After a couple of weeks I dumped it and reinstalled win2k and life went on, waiting (as I am now) for Beta 2. For Xmas I recieved a nice new Celeron 566 that I immeadiatly overclocked to a stable 850 mhz AND recieved a new Voodoo4500 AGP vid card. Out of pure curiosity I reinstalled Beta 1. I expected the OS to respond faster, which it has. But what puzzled me is that there is LESS ram being used after booting up with this particular configuration than their was with my slower CPU and PCI vid card. Now I see 84 to 86 megs of ram being used when I boot up...any ideas on whats different? Does use of APG slot for video vs PCI make that much difference???

    SBlive Liveware 3.0 and Whistler

Runs fine for me as well. During Liveware install I did get an error saying a certain file couldn't be found and did I want to continue installing without it. I clicked yes and haven't had a single problem yet.

    Whistler Beta 1 and svchost.exe

I was wondering the same thing. I am happy, however that my SB platinum software all works well. Running Whistler Beta 1 personal and really dig the cd-r burning capabilities of the OS. Also love the fonts, whole desktop is much easier on my ol eyeballs
