Dual boot with win98.Want 4 speakers use win98 untill crerative releases there drivers for Win2k sometime after Feb 17.

Liveware is for both SB live + Value. If you dont desperatly need 4 speakers i would stick with the default drivers win2k loads up and wait untill creative realeses there drivers. If you are running a SMP setup the liveware workarounds that are posted will not work.

Win 2k is already a great gaming platform.Nothing to wait and see for i am already using it just for that.Once the hardware is fully supported there wont be a reason in the world to use 9x.I cant even find a reason to boot into 98.i have been using win2k for almost a month now and using it for Everything i was using 98 for except i dont have to reboot every session because of lockups or crashes. And i had supported hardware in 98!! If you cant get games going in Win2k you should wait awhile .I have installed about 20 games so far and have had NO problems.Remember this is still a Beta folks and harware manufatuers have not givin it full support. If in the long run your stuck using 98se or 98se the sequel(millienium)i feel sorry for you because Win2k is such a great gaming OS.If you cant get it going right know i suggest waiting a few months untill there is proper support to help you out.Personally if you look through this message board enough you will probably find the help you need.

Can anyone comment on the speed of your games under Win2k
kmoed1 replied to Neville's topic in Games
If you get your openGL drivers working all the quake engine games(halflife, kingpin etc..)Run great.Unreal tournament also runs amazing. In fact every game that works runs a hell of alot better than 9X. When i ran unreal tournament under 9x i was using a resolution of 1024x768.The game ran OK but got some slowdown and jerky framrates now and then.Under win2k i am at 1280x960 and it runs smoooth!!!!.Other games i am running are age of kings,rayman2,heretic2,UltraHle. -
Once Win2k is fully realesed and Hardware vendors have driver support out i personally feel Win2k will be the best OS for newcomers as well as the core users.I have had NO problems what so ever running any game under win2k and considering that is using workarounds for drivers its pretty amazing. The win9X might seem easier but when you take into consideration all the crashes and hangups you get from it it ends up being more difficult and frustrating to use.Especially for newcomers. It will be a few months before will se full support for this but i would highly recommend it for new users once it is there. And as far as games go Win2k RULES!
