  1. well, i agree the beta does need alot of fixes with _SOME_ hardware, however after installing the final it seems alot better. Now to get to the point of Win2K and games. It's well known that Win2K runs alot of games (Unreal, Unreal Tournament, Q3, Ultima 9) and most newer games that actually do run in win2k BETTER than Win9x. This is for the most part due to a much better memory management. What alot of people forget is that Win2K out of the box is configured very broadly after installation. It's alot like installing RedHat Linux. You really need to get into all the services and tweak most of them. About 50% of the services can be turned off on a mostly gaming machine. This will make Win2K alot snappier (at first it feels like Win98, i.e. slug fest). Hope that clears it up... oh and don't forget the registry for doing the online gaming tweaks!

u9 uses safedisk which explains the icd. if i remember correctly u9.exe is the safedisk loader which decodes and loads u9.icd which is the u9 exe encrypted. the problem could be with safedisk and your cd... did u9 ever work for ya on win9x? people with a similar problem but with win9x or win2k usually download the no cd patch which basically replaces the safedisk encrypted exe with a normal one. before you grab this patch make sure u grab the latest patch from OSI (patch 2 as of now). also, last time i used this i had to reinstall the game when a new patch came out...
  3. Does anyone know what the latest drivers are for a Viper 770 (TNT2) that work with Win2K? I just finished installing Final and the latest drivers I got were 3.64 from betaos.com. Is this the latest? It seems to work fine with UT (haven't tried anything else).... Thanks. p.s. any idea when nVidia will release these as public (rather then beta)...?
