    Quake 3 strange vsync problem

Hi, I tested the swap_interval setting in Quake 3 Arena and noticed, that the framerate is 85 like my monitor refresh. OK so far so good, but then I noticed that in some viewing angles in some levels the framerate dropped to EXACT the half of 85, just 42! This must be a Quake 3 problem, with 100 Hz I sometimes got 50 fps. This sucks, why can the Q3 engine not make fps like 68 or 73 when it goes down. This can't be a problem even if it is in vsync with the monitor refresh. Anyone got a solution? And no, I don't want to play it without vsync, cause the tearing is noticable! Live!Ware 3.0 question

Does anyone got AC3 (SP/DIF) out to work with any software DVD decoders??? With Cinemaster 2000 the option is not selectable and WinDVD 2.0 outputs nothing! I hate Creative Labs for that! FoLLgoTT

    LiveWare! Driver update for win2k.

Creative sux!!! No SP/DIF out with these new drivers! I just want to listen to my THX trailers over my AC3 receiver! Now everytime I want to watch them I have to boot with Win**** 98! And NeoRage X (a Neo Geo emulator) still has stuttering sound (not with original win2k drivers)! Creative Labs has ****ty programmers! FoLLgoTT

    New 3dfx beta drivers: Question!

Where are my refresh rate of 85 Hz in games like Quake 3 and UT gone??? I have now 2 Monitors: Standard TV and my normal PC monitor. I can't deinstall the TV, cause it comes back after next rebooting. And all games have 60 Hz now! Refresh rate issues suck under Win2k. Has anyone an idea??? FoLLgoTT
  7. I heard that it is not supported by Win 2000 (Advanced) Server, but my PC doesn't support ACPI so it doesn't turn off after shut down. I can't enable APM, because the option is not there under power management properties. Is there a way to enable it by editing the registry? thanx, FoLLgoTT

Can APM be enabled in Advanced Server???

My Motherboard supports APM! A BIOS update doesn't help either. I think with Win 2000 Pro it had the APM option. FoLLgoTT
  9. I can't get IPX based games like Starcraft or Tibrian Sun to work on Win2k Advanced Server. On the same PC with Win2k Professionel it ran fine, but now with W2k AS I can't "see" a started game and when I start a game the others ( 1 Win98 and 1 Win2k Pro) can't connect. It's just with IPX, everything else works fine (Windows network, TCP/IP games...). I changed some parameters from IPX, no difference. Is something different with Advanced Server? FoLLgoTT

IPX based games under Advanced Server

It works if I disable Routing and RAS!

  15. I want to use ICS with Win2k Pro (2195), but not with IP 192.168.0.x ! When I have ICS enabled and I change my new static IP to my old IP that I want to use (10.1.1.1) and another PC (win98SE) wants an IP adress the event log says that I have to change the area of IP adresses, cause it wants assign 192.168.0.2. So my quaestion: how can I change the range of IP adresses to 10.1.1.x ? thanx, FoLLgoTT

    Internet Connection Sharing Question (DHCP)

Sorry, but you didn't understand my question. I know how DHCP works. I just wanted to know if there is a way that my NIC gets the IP 10.1.1.1 instead of 192.168.0.1 and the DHCP clients get 10.1.1.1-255 . I want to change the range of IP's. Win2k automatically assign 192.168.0.x, but this is what I want to change.

  18. I have an extern ADSL modem which is connected to a hub. Under Win98 I can connect to the internet using a special driver which let me choose a NDISWAN modem in RNA. This modem does not have an IP adress, so I don't know how to use it under Win2k, because the NT4 drivers don't work. If you know, please help. thanx, FoLLgoTT

How can I use my extern ADSL modem?

Yes, I have Winpoet, too. But it won't install under Win2k. How did you get it to run? FoLLgoTT
  20. FoLLgoTT

    Let's face it

My network card works, I have the ADSL modem connected to a hub, but under Win98 it uses a driver to connect over the RNA. This driver is called winpoet. I don't know how I can make a connection without this driver, this modem has no IP adress or something. If someone can help please reply. FoLLgoTT

    Let's face it

I have build 2195.1 (you know it is "evaluation final") and I have to say it is stable, audio grabbing is much better (32x to NTFS partition), applications load a bit faster than in Win98, but games... First I have to say that I own a Voodoo 3, you know that 3dfx's OpenGL driver sux, but WickedGL is fast as hell! So I have to wait until the WickedGL works under Win2k. This is OK, Win2k isn't even out yet. But strange, that Direct3D games like Midtown Madness run a bit slower than under Win98 (even with the Voodoo 3 drivers included)! My SBLive runs fine, even my TV card with NT4 drivers! But my extern ADSL modem isn't supported, so I have no Internet there. So I wait. Another thing that I noticed. Maybe it is just the 2195.1, but, my Winnt directory is getting bigger and bigger (over 600 MB now), I heard from people with over 800 MB. And in Win2k the harddisk is more active than in Win98 (Yes, I have 128 MB RAM)! All in all, it is a very good operation system for apps and maybe it becomes a good OS for newer games, but not for all, because I think many older games will not be translated to work under Win2k!
